  1. Wait, Rongor is disputing Floyd and they’re both trying to tell me what the community wants with a trim reset. Before this discussion continues I think it’s really important that you get a solid, clear explanation of what the “trim reset option group” wants so wags and team know what to do or not do for you. You want the same trim reset that’s available in the other helo modules I assume? The one that clears your trim and resets the digital stick to digital center? If so, I *personally* don’t understand where this is used in practice, in flight? If you could detail out why a trimmer reset is needed as opposed to just further trimming the aircraft, I’d appreciate it because I personally have difficulty these days understanding different view points. 1) If I’m landing i am repeatedly pressing trim to set a new trim position to help stabilize the aircraft. 2) If I’m flying level I’m retrimming (too much cause I’m OCD) to keep her level 3) if I’m accelerating I’m actually waiting until level flight to retrim 4) if I’m maneuvering a hard turn after being trimmed for a fast forward flight I might retrim quickly in the bank to get more deflection room for my physical stick, then be sure to retrim again in level flight like I would anyways 5) I’m always hands on stick, so if I make a trimming error I just hold the stick and physically correct the aircraft and make a proper trim 6) if I’m taking off I am doing a few trims to get everything stable. thank you
  2. Thank you. I know this much, but not the scenario that people want to use trim reset as opposed to regular trim.
  3. I never got an answer and I’m trying to understand, could someone explain to me so I can better understand your viewpoint here on trim reset: What’s the situation, the context of which you’re using a trim reset that instantly resets the virtual controls to “center”? I imagine ED will add it eventually but I’m just curious if I can talk someone through using their trim better or if I need yo be more open minded about different ways of using the controls
  4. I’m not trying to argue or debate, but please don’t lump me into the “everyone with a center stick” claim. I have a center return stick with springs in. I never use trim reset with the other helos in flight. I might have used it a bit with the hind when rudder pedals were getting stuck in game early on? But that’s about it. You don’t *need* trim reset simply because you have a center stick. Though it’s no skin off my back if ED adds some additional “quality of life” cheats for people to learn helos. I imagine after you get more practice in you’ll see what I mean. Heres a simple spiral down landing. No trim reset. I was re-trimming several times as ias and altitude changed. Virpil stick. Springs in. No extension. https://youtu.be/xNJd41pK_e4
  5. Be sure to bind the numbers and the decimal point “.” I suggest rebinding the pilot / cpg seats from 1 and 2 to Lshift 1 and 2.
  6. Another possible use for rockets is artillery. If you’re single ship or if you have to be close enough that unmasking is high risk to be hit by sams or AAA but you’re able to get a target point set on enemy position you can indirect fire rockets from behind cover.
  7. I dunno have you used the rockets yet? I was destroying trucks and bmps last night pretty easily
  8. Gun is pretty awesome. I was easily taking out trucks while flying fast and low at night using the PNVS. Make sure it’s on auto ranging. Really cool to go in, pants on fire, and just obliterate stuff. As for George no I haven’t gotten him to work well with the gun yet but I haven’t tried much. On the consent to fire roe he wasn’t shooting at targets in range. Need to try when he’s on the weapons free roe Lol oh and I flew through a zsu / Sam emplacement NOE and gunned several targets then flared like a madman and used civilian housing as cover
  9. On that note, are we able to tell George to store a target? I think this has been asked and answered but I don’t remember
  10. Sounds like what mine does, I’m assuming this is because altitude hold isn’t implemented yet. It’s not difficult to fly you just can’t fly it perfectly hands off. This also reminds me of something I think casmo talked about with new Apache pilots where they spend too much time staring at all of the flight information rather than just looking outside and flying the helo
  11. If you’re using FFB trim in special options it will register your return to center as opposite deflection. Make sure you’re on center return trim in special options. But generally yeah, what we have now means I can’t get a perfect trim. I still keep hand on the stick and make minute adjustments while flying.
  12. Well, I can try to make this video later after work. I don’t personally understand how it’ll help but if you think it will
  13. Amount of time in the air doing Apache work. Apache has a lot it wants to do but it apparently consumes a lot of fuel or simply doesn’t hold enough for what it wants to do. So my limited understanding is that you can load up heavy with 8 hellfires and two full rocket pods, or 16 hellfires, and go a short range and do a very specific job, or you can load less munitions up so maybe two of the lighter rocket pods, less 30mm, and only two hellfires per launcher so that you can fly further and loiter longer
  14. Title. Please add the weapons hold / free fire longUP command to top of AI wheel as a general quality of life addition. Thanks
  15. Oh that’s cool, didn’t even expect that tbh
  16. 1) Managing two MFDs (MPDs) for most of your workflow while flying. 2) Using helmet / eyepiece to assist in flying and targeting 3) Upfront display controlling radios 4) (eventually) radar This basically
  17. The Apache is just the rotory wing version of the f18 in a way. So if you can learn the f18 you can learn the Apache.
  18. You were just checking then suspension to make sure it worked.
  19. Trying +10 will make it more forgiving. Or you could go -10 to make the collective more precise in the low rpm range we're talking about. But in the end it's just about making very small adjustments and watching the VSI on the altitude tape on the right. Is it dropping fast? Add a tiny bit of collective, then lower collective a tad. It's about minute adjustments. Here, you can see as I'm about to land I let it get away from me for a second but recover quickly:
  20. In case anyone else was curious, it's working so far. There's only a few regular A-Z keys that are bound by default, and really only a couple that are useful like "I (india)" for "Show IHADSS" and "M" for "Mirrors" and "K" for "Show Kneeboard." Mirrors can be easily rebound to Rshift-M, Kneeboard has the on/off bind already set to Rshift-K, and I personally put show ihadss on my HOTAS because I use it a lot as CPG. Now that I was confident we can clear the A-Z keys and assign them to the Keyboard Unit, there was one other question - I went into a server and verified that I can bring up multiplayer chat and type into chat without entering info into the Keyboard Unit. I assumed it would work but wanted to be sure, and there's no conflict. Keyboard binds get disabled in favor of chat when the chat box is open. ED is smart. So if you want to nerd out like me it can be done with a $15 bluetooth keyboard, whatever mounting system you want to add it to your chair, and about 15 minutes of key binding. Don't forget to back up your Input folder. Edit for notes: 1) need to keybind for both pilot and CPG. It’s tedious but should only have to do it once. 2) highlight keyboard column and click save profile. Save one for pilot and one for CPG. If a patch deletes your keybinds this method works well at restoring them.
  21. Joy2Key worked for the triggers. I set them as Insert and Delete and put weapon and laser functions on those keys. Works like a charm so far. However, setting the left joystick as keys was a nightmare as it's too sensitive so I came up with a different mapping idea. But overall the Joy2Key program is working for me thanks.
  22. I don't get it. When do you even use it? It's worse to use it than just re-trimming and flying properly. Eh... I'm done here lol. I have no skin in this. I hope you get what you need.
  23. If you press a trim reset while you’re trimmed for 130 IAS the aircraft is going to nose up to the moon. So that means you’re going to have to retrim as you decelerate, and retrim more while managing collective to be at a controllable descent rate. Where does trim reset come into play here?
