  1. Updating my previous post to demonstrate a few things. 1) George AI can in fact perform a LOAL-Hi hellfire shot so long as the pilot fires the hellfire, 2) TP ACQ Sources aren't required, 3) This is a method to get George to fire outside of his unfortunately limited 7900 engagement range (Fired from 8300m and hellfire lands just beyond the tank), and 4) George has poor accuracy with LOAL. 2. Redneck engineering is best engineering. I once helped a buddy carry a heavy freezer out of his basement. He provided a hand cart to help us chain it and lift it up the stairs. Turns out one of the tires had a hole and so the weight flattened it. We put air in the tire with his small air compressor but the hole was too big. It flattened again. But it held the air for about 30 seconds. So… we pumped the tire, lifted the freezer up a stair or two, then refilled the tire. Hillbilly but the job got done
  3. And have it so you can press command fire once to make George turn on the laser, and press it again or simply deslave to have George turn off laser. This way we can have George laze objects like buildings or bridges.
  4. The trajectory modes apply to LOAL. LOBL has a unique semi loft trajectory. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/297249-hellfire-loblloal-and-the-4-trajectories/
  5. Hellfire modes have minimum ranges and in DCS those appear to be LOBL 500, LOAL DIR 1500, LOAL LO 2000, LOAL HI 3000. ACQ source isn’t required to fire LOAL. See raptors post in thread about hellfire mode details: I’m not at home to test but to fire LOAL hi with George simply ensure you’re outside the 3000m min range, and set George to hi. Either command him to fire , or was hellfire yourself and fire. Wait a few seconds then have George select your desired target which he will then laze automatically
  6. I’m being pedantic but I believe LOBL has its own unique trajectory. DIR traj doesn’t affect it
  7. Well, I think a more direct option will become available later in development since they’re going to make George be able to store target points. You can take control of tads in the backseat by turning on nvs and then selecting tads but I dunno if you could command George to activate the laser. perhaps a good wishlist item would be to add the laser designator as a weapon option for George so you can command him to just fire the laser at a point
  8. I agree with arm505. Ground interaction always pops up because it’s never felt right to pilots or simmers here. One example is if i remember correctly the dcs p51 takes more manifold pressure to get rolling than the real life version and this has something to do with ground interaction. But as arm505 stated this is a flight sim not a racing sim. While ground interaction is part of the simulation it’s not the primary part. Until such time as we could get quality of life improvements, just be very careful when landing and taxiing.
  9. If you haven’t joined already, come over to casmotv’s low level hell discord and hang out in the Apache channel. Several Apache pilots in there willing to give tips if you’re willing to play online there’s a decent number of guys wanting random multicrew action etc. You could be my CPG and I’ll help walk you through stuff if you want. I’ve focused more on CPG than piloting since the Apache came out https://discord.gg/n2hzkEbn
  10. I’m not sure the ACQ source is the reason for george’s issues? ACQ is just a reference point. Feel free to correct if I’m wrong. But you fire hellfires in LOAL by default. LOBL is activated when you laze prior to launching, but otherwise the hellfire launches default in LOAL. You reference a direction and fire LOAL. You may set Hi as traj so the hellfire lofts up in flight before scanning for a laser. But it’s scanning down in a fov for a laser code. Picks it up and guides in. Whats this issue with George and LOAL supposedly? Guess I should figure that out first
  11. George lazes automatically when you tell him to pick a target from the ai list
  12. Trees are just partial concealment anyways. Use other terrain features like hills and buildings. Also use range. Could also probably find a way to stay low and sneak the laser onto target for a Hi shot. Or practice firing Hi LOAL blind and using tof to time your unmask - laser just right Also if in multiplayer server, save Sam target point and try relaying grid to a jet. Let them shoot it
  13. Yeah that’s what I was thinking but you said it better lol
  14. I also wish the Apache CPG had nvgs…. I think that’s coming though. I don’t understand why pilot got nvgs before CPG. In a recent multiplayer mission put on by casmo’s patreon group I was CPG in one of the apaches trying to clear the perimeter of enemy compound for a friendly air assault. Compound was in a town so finding patrols required teamwork with A10s overhead. They were up at like angels 5 or 10, spotted patrols, pointed to it with izlid. It’s not visual on flir but it’s visible in NVG. So normally as CPG I would have goggles and spot it then move tads into location. As it played out my pilot had nvgs, saw the izlid laser, and I slaved to his LOS. In this manner we had the patrol targeted before the patrol even came into our field of view from the angle we were at. The point is how easy exchanging info is in this way. As opposed to the a10 relaying a grid to us and us setting a tp. By that time the patrol could be gone Later we found a secondary target of enemy troops and vehicles that we had to store as TP and then relay coords to ground and up to A10s to target. If I had izlid a 5-7 minute exchange of info could have been near instant
  15. Making it equipable via ground comms weapons menu would be preferable as well. Or make the attachment set by default to on, requiring mission edit to turn it off. Regardless, if it’s implemented most servers would just have it activated for every Apache slot.
  16. Image auto track or tracker. But just get good with LMC. If you press LMC once without moving joystick it’ll “lock” in position
  17. Thought I’d ask even though I probably won’t get a great answer. I’m just really stoked for the target state estimator. 30mm is bae. This year? This quarter? Tomorrow?
  18. Saw how useful the A10 IZLID is in a recent multiplayer mission and apparently all apaches get this because it’s just mounted to the gun. Correction, according to raptor it was not standard fleet wide in given timeframe. Still would like to have it though https://forum.dcs.world/topic/291345-izlid-ir-zoom-laser-illuminator-designator-on-our-2005-2010-ah-64d-block-2-v91/?do=findComment&comment=4875304
  19. Casmo has talked about new pilots focusing too much on the symbology and not doing as well as when you just fly the aircraft, especially when hovering. This rings true for me in the sim. Doing helicopter stuff works better for maintaining a hover than watching symbology. Though having the VSI tape on the right has been very nice, the flight path marker is very helpful, and the various reticles like LOS and waypoint plate have all been great. So ya know it’s a mix. But since the helo really comes alive at night you’ll learn to appreciate every bit of assistance you can get flying in pitch black
  20. 20 minutes of video as a CPG pulling security in a semi-realistic Air Assault Mission with the Low Level Hell Patreon Group. Timestamps are included in YouTube description
  21. Have George laze a target, infantry or apc or whatever. Look at his target through the vid - tads screen and ID it yourself
  22. Well don’t quote me but I thought I saw a bug report about George ai targeting friendlies when he shouldn’t be. Besides that, whether you’re using George ai or you have a multicrew, you need good situational awareness
