Eagle Forums & Translation To English...
rrohde replied to Wrecking Crew's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Check this and ensure it's set to English (US) - bottom left corner of the forum: -
This just means that the login has timed out and you'll need to re-authenticate.
-
I never managed it myself, but maybe others have/can? Dunno.
-
For that reason, and the lack of FC3 aircraft separate wallpapers and missions, I ended up purchasing all available FC3 modules individually, and uninstalling FC3.

I agree. I never understood why ED hasn't implemented the option for NTTR campaigns to emulate the equipment to keep score of simulated kills as they do during the real Red Flag (or other training scenarios) out there. So you kill/get killed but keep flying to actually learn something during those missions and campaigns. Getting shot down and having to start over isn't realistic for such NTTR scenarios to begin with, and doesn't really lend itself to learning tactics and maneuvers in the air, and thus can get frustrating rather quickly. For me, that's a missed opportunity and would really enhance the whole NTTR experience.

So why not trim accordingly right after take off, and/or use the ATT Hold channel as needed for stable flight? Also, what is your rotate and wheels-up speed respectively?
-
There has to be somewhat of a center to have the stick return to it when you let go of the grip, unless that's a non-issue. I believe that VKB HQ plans on designing a different cam variant, aimed at space games based on player feedback, but I am not quite sure if it would bring any benefit for us DCS players in that regard...

Some Mig-35 export variant (MiG-29M) would be swell. I mean, who wouldn't want something like that in DCS:
-
Practice, practice, practice. ;) Also, 250 seems a little slow, so you might watch your sink rate as to not slam her down onto the tarmac. And, you need to trim the nose down right after take off quite a bit. Another tidbit - use the ATT Hold channel a lot - it helps. What you describe is just how the PFM (professional flight model) works, based on the real 29. Maybe you enjoyed the previous far more simplistic SFM better?

... and the engine sound. Please replace the current engine sound with something better. Thanks. :)

Thanks for sharing. Those tales from the horses mouth are always enlightening, yet sadly far and few between. About punching out - I read some time ago that it also compresses your spine quite a bit, and from what I understood a active pilot could only punch out twice until they we no longer allowed to fly because of that very issue. Curious if there are concerns about potential hacking and malware attacks for these highly integrated planes that might not be able to fall back onto more analog means if somethings goes really wrong. (This also is a potential issue for surveillance equipment that's going to eventually replace radar like ADS-A/B, as during tests "hackers" could inject false targets into those displays, etc).

You might want to try the Ka-50 Quick Start mission "Air Support" (or similar to that) on the Normandy map for a reality check. That's always my go to scenario for a whack in the head for my VR setup. ;)

Really happy with ED's direction on self-publishing, so don't change a thing there. On the other hand, a collaboration on engine tech between ED and Laminar Research could be a potential, hypothetical match made in (flight sim) heaven.

Good stuff! Thank you!

Смоделирована ли турбулентность DCS на основе весовой категории самолета, как в реальной жизни?

Coming from the Rift, it's the same for me.

I wish that wake turbulence is a DCS feature that is part of the whole EDGE engine/weather simulation globally and not part of a set of select planes. Would be nice if this effect would be generated by all aircraft (based on weight class and engine type), and all aircraft are affected by it respectively and realistically. Also, I hope that wake turbulence is also modeled so that it affects RWY landings, and thus correct aircraft separation becomes a requirement. EDIT: Post from Yo-Yo seems to confirm that it is a global effect. Nice! https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3783495&postcount=17295 In fact, the eddies are the effect of the WORLD ATMOSPHERE. As well as network and multiplayer. Same as wind, turbulence and more. Therefore, this is an EXCLUSIVELY project and the prerogative of ED. It will have the same effect on all aircraft made using the PFM technology, since this is a general velocity field. You can even get yourself on a bend in your own companion. And in the F-14, most likely, they simply take the relative coordinates of the nearest aircraft and at a certain position begin to shake their own. Of course the question remains - do we have different wake turbulence effects based on the weight class of the aircraft? In real life, for example a "super heavy" aicraft requires a 6-8nm separation from other aircraft following it for landing due to the impact of its wake... is that considered in DCS as well? EDIT2: Yo-Yo just confirmed that weight categories are considered, as well as "And even more ... on everything that determines the intensity of the vortices. As well as their subsequent behavior." That's great news!

VR is amazing and I'm surprisingly large/tall in VR
rrohde replied to Razi's topic in Virtual Reality
 I wish... but to be honest, I think only the A-10C would need a different setting, but I am sure that ED is already working on upgrading the geometry of its cockpit, as it's really quite off in VR, imho. -

IPD in DCS should really be called World Scale, as it has nothing to do with your HMD's IPD. You should really use the "IPD" in DCS to match your real world hand size to that of your virtual DCS pilot to be in the ballpark for a realistic scale. In my case, using the Samsung Odyseey+, I set the DCS "IPD" value to 48 (and again, that has nothing to do with the real IPD that you dial into your HMD). For me, 48 gives me a reasonably sized cockpit across all of DCS. -
Performance issues not considered bugs by ED?
rrohde replied to bandit648's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I believe ED also have their own, internal test team that provides these kind of reports outside of the public forum areas. There's likely a lot more work being done towards that end than we might realize. -
Better, yes, but to me it seems as if the loop is still a little too short and thus sounds a tad too repetitive in my opinion.
-
Besides that texture glitch, the new, more fluid animation of the pilot's head following my VR head movements is brilliant. Is that actually something new or am I seeing things? :)

"feeling I get" is of course a valid frame of reference </s> I remember the Formula One simulation game I was playing felt wayyy overpowered, I mean the cars were going just so fast, even in 2nd gear. When I drove my own car in RL thereafter, I felt that it was totally underpowered - should I open a forum thread about it or contact the manufacturer? After all I feel that it is just not right. ;) Of course, you mustn't forget that DCS has a little more advanced approach to flight modeling, that stands apart from other sims. Are you going to the other sims forums then and compare them to DCS as well?
