  1. Why can't you just be grateful that we are getting a Viper in the first place? It seems to be very hard to please someone nowadays... sheesh....
  2. Another technique you can use is to put the target in the funnel, so that both wingtips of the target touch the funnel lines. Then pull the trigger and at the same time pull the target through the funnel. That way you can compensate for not having the precise wing span of your target
  3. That's the CCIP bombing reticle Gun pipper changes over time through various levels: EEGS Pippers: - Level 1 = The gun cross - Level 2 = Funnel and MGRS lines (no radar lock) - Level 3 = Radar lock on target. 1G (+) and 9G (-) pipper appear with BATR symbol (BATR is small circle) and T-symbol to calculate for manouvering target - Level 4 = Funnel now bends with targets plane of motion, MGRS lines are removed - Level 5 = BATR symbol grows larger and becomes "Death Dot", put it over target hold for 1/4 seconde to stabilize and pull the trigger Hope this explains it a bit more
  4. SMEs were wrong before. So, thats why books are relevant.
  5. No, sorry - GBU-10 (2000lb) is 28. in diameter at the airfoil group (tail section) - GBU-12 is 18 inches in diameter at the airfoil group (tail section) - Empty TER 9 is about 15 inches in diameter
  6. I think part of these "problems" is that there are dozens of books (T.O.'s as we call them) about the F16 and all of it's systems, repair manuals, weapon loading manuals, inspection manuals, just to name a few. Also each component you mount can to the aircraft has its own workshop manuals aswell (think of launchers, weapon pylons, missiles, etc. These are normally used in the shops which perform the maintenance) I'm pretty sure that ED doesn't have acces to all of these book, so you can never model something accurate as in RL
  7. Because in RL there are restrictions to certain loadouts or to what a specific rack is allowed / certified for carrying. DCS is not modeling this properly. Look at the recent to station 4-6 change to the HARM missile. They *should* change the 3x Maverick on 1 rack too, because in RL, firing the 3rd Maverick damages the horizontals. Yes, DCS is a simulator. But that doesn't mean they are right on every account and everything is modelled to RL. Also, not all clusterbombe have the same weight. Therefore some types can be carried as much to 3, while others are limited to 2
  8. We (NL) use centreline tanks when pilots are training for BFM combat.
  9. There is also a weight limit to what a TER rack is allowed to carry. 3x MK82 or 3x CBU 97 is a big difference in weight, therefore only 2x CBU's are loaded. MK20 is an exception, because of it's lighter weight
  10. Then they "fixed" something that wasn't broken
  11. And thats: Gaps between pylons and wing - Fixed In RL, the pylons and wing don't touch each other. The weapon pylons have bushings on top which create a smal gap between the wing and pylon
  12. Hello, i started to go through the training missions, but this mission is constantly freezing. It hangs when it says "World Preload 1/60" at bottom of the screen. I then need to kill the application and restart DCS dcs.log
  13. Thats not what i was saying... Those were specific demands which came later and is something different than the fact the F16 was designed to be a light weight fighter jet in the very begining The USAF and (later) EPAF countries later decided it needed to be multirole. You said you didn't feel like it to be true multirole in a thread where SDB's won't get added But we are getting a littlebit off topic
  14. I just tested it and for me it stows the TGP when i set it to standby in MFD
  15. The black radome was 1 of the first things that changed from block 1 to block 5. Pilots complained it was to easy to spot the VIper in A-A engagements.
  16. See Northstar's post. He explains it very well. The original design was a light weight fighter jet. It envolved to a multirole plane, by all the upgrades it received. The Danish F16's were not the first F16's build, they are Block 15's? First production model was the Block 1 with a black radome. Which meant they already received updates to a new standard. The F16 became "multirole" with the Block 15 upgrade in which they received a new radar and increased capacity for intake hardpoints So the Danish bought aircraft that had already have some AG capability. This was further enhanced with the Operational Capability Upgrade (OCU) and later the Mid Life Update (MLU), which brought them to the same standard as USAF Block 50/52's. The EPAF (European Participating Air Forces) F16's were in the first place intended to replace the F-104 Starfighter and the Danish F16's were also build by SABCA Belgium
  17. I've never been in the Eagle cockpit, but this just doesn't feel like a true (cramped) Viper cockpit
  18. First, the F16 was never intended to be a multirole fighter Second, being multirole has nothing to do with the ability to drop smart weapons
