  1. Nice work, thanks.
  2. Absolutely true, and I wouldn't expect a JTAC to know the ins and outs of employing PGMs, (although I disagree with the example you give in that JTACs should know what guidance is being used as frag envelopes and lazing targets is part of their job) but if you are writing a book about it, it doesn't hurt to do a bit of research (I am am talking about Damien Lewis here, the guy who actually puts the pieces together). Not for the sake of a "flight sim geek" community, but for anyone with an interest in modern military ops including the thousands of military personnel the world over that read the book also. Andy McNab is an example of someone who does this really well in his books IMO. This is the biggest thing I took away from this book and Apache Dawn also. 9 lines and SOPs certainly get chucked out the window pretty quickly. It gives a very good feeling of how intense the battles were despite what was being reported "back home".
  3. Yeah wasnt much of a fan. Damien Lewis tends to hype the BS too much for my liking. "One man, 180 days, 203 kills" on the cover is the first eye rolling moment. The amount of poor info discredits it a bit as well.
  4. Thanks, there was one file for the CDU with that extension, but I cannot find any others. Perhaps if you could post the file names in here or your website then it would help other people as well. EDIT: found some others using a search for .bak if this helps others. Although my screen is still stretched along both my monitors and the game still locks up on loading. One cool feature would be a one click option to change the .luas back if that was possible.
  5. Hi I tried the free app but my game just kept hanging up/crashing on the loading page so I have uninstalled it. Can you please explain how I get my display configuration back to normal? I am not sure where these "backup" files are? Thanks
  6. I concur with EthereaN. That GPU will have a hard time with A-10C/BS2. Get LOMAC- and upgrade to FC2 if you like it. Especially if you haven't played many sims before. The DCS series is the deep end.
  7. What did you have set on your Nav Mode Select Panel?
  8. Typical flight eng by the looks, grumpy as hell. Although she needs to put on another 100kg and higher blood pressure to be truly authentic.
  9. This feature was in the original A-10C feature list, mut never made it at release, so I guess it is in the pipeline.
  10. Concur. The fact that the capability to fly in the same flight as your buddy has not been implemented earlier blows my mind.
  11. Well I am willing to make a paypal bet with anyone that it's an F-18c. That includes Wags.
  12. TMS aft long from memory. If I recall, headspace made that tutorial back in the beta days when everyone was still very new to it all. I would be surprised if he still does it that way because as you say mhe, it is much quicker and easier with markpoints.
  13. Hopefully headspace and the TARS team get a hold of combined arms and incorporate into their plans!
  14. I am with PeterP on this one, I reckon its the P51B also. It appears that TFC sold a P51B back in 2007, so it would tie in with what Jim said above. The fact Jim says "exact variant" would also suggest they do own a different variant, ie the T51D......
  15. Loving the combined arms news. This will completely change online play, can't wait. I hope ED consider the possibility of the commander being able to create units during the battle.
  16. It differs a little amongst air forces and squadrons. As stated reference to specific boxes is normally used during formation frequency changes, so that the formation knows what box to change: eg "Hawg flight: Uniform 251.3, go." pause for everyone to change "Hawg flight check uniform" "2" "3" "4". or "Eagle flight: push stud 3 comm1" (stud is a preset) Sometimes when contacting someone who is using multiple freqs the same as you, you may use reference to the radio you are using to avoid confusion. This is not normally needed as it should be obvious what freq you are talking on, but if there is the potential for someone to call back using the incorrect freq you can use things such as: eg. "2 from 1 on uniform, you forgot to remove your pitot cover" "2, roger" freqs will be designated names as well such as "interplane" for a flight common freq. This is commonly used also: eg. "2 from 1 on interplane, i need to RTB asap, Ive code browned this cockpit."
  17. jazjar why do you keep saying that? I dont get it?
  18. I remember this quote from a quite a while back out of interest:
  19. Of all forums, this is the one most worthy of distributing rep in. It seems to be disabled? Is this intentional?
  20. Played this mission last week and really enjoyed it. Appreciate the thought that has gone into it, it really is a fun mission. For some reason I cant give rep...
  21. In previous patches it didnt work for clients and it would only work if the group ID was 01. For the most part it works well in multiplayer in the current patch, although in a mission I flew the other night the JTAC got a little muddled.
  22. Great vid, really enjoyed it. That shot of the F-18 on short finals for a trap was fantastic.
  23. No unfortunately fuel is not integrated into the CDU I am afraid.
  24. You address the person you are contacting first then your own callsign. So it would be "Tower, Herig1 request start". In reality a start call often has a lot more to it than just requesting start, but for the sake of what you are trying to achieve here, this would be correct. Requesting start is something normally mandatory at busy airfields or airfields that have a para drop zone. In most parts of the world it is also mandatory for all IFR flights on a controlled airfield. You do not need to request start from ATC for the APU, so you have that running prior to your start call.
  25. Thanks Viper. Used excel, and these are the differences it picked up: • Updated single missions. • Georgian Yak-40 no longer uses Russian Skin. • HOTAS Fundamentals Training Mission now integrated in the training menu. • Added tree shadows. • Set helicopters to land and takeoff from ships. • Improved multiplayer stability. • Improved FARP model. • Improved object and terrain Z-fighting. • New Ticonderoga-class cruiser. • JTAC radio 9-line MGRS co-ordinates no longer omit leading Zeros. • Ka-27s no longer spawn inside each other when taking off from the Kuznetsov. • A-10C cockpit. Warning lights, Gear handle light and CMSC are now properly Self Illuminated. • DCS no longer Stutters and accesses Hard disk during disintegration of Player A-10C. • JTAC will no longer Sparkle unrelated terrain if it obstructs Line of sight to the target, will switch to Type 3 engagement. • Submarines shadows Corrected. • Initial LOD changes no longer cause models to disappear briefly, before the new LOD is displayed. • Train Tunnel entrances are correctly textured now. • JTAC "Request BDA" Tweaked. • The GBU-31 is no longer missing a model for its LOD. • Mission Editor no longer uses excessive amounts of memory when copy/pasting units. • EWR 1L13 ranges in Mission editor now match those in DCS.exe. • Side Front Windscreens tinted. • ATC radio menu entry "I'm lost" renamed to "Request Azimuth" • New E-3A Sentry. The following airbases have had their names changed: • UG24: Tbilisi - Soganlug -> Soganlug (runways changed from 14/32 to 13/31) • UGKO: Kutaisi - Kopitnari -> Kutaisi Improved Helicopter AI (HAI): • When analyzing a tactical situation, the HAI will take in account all threats, not only the target that the HAI is engaging. • Jinking anti-flak maneuvering has been added. When flying in the WEZ of AAA, tanks, and APCs, the HAI will fly at high speed and jink. Of course, HAI will not jink when aiming at a target. EDIT: ahhh too quick for me Nate!
