Operation Talon's Reach (MP, Co-Op 4, A-10C)
Kaiza replied to Joyride's topic in User Created Missions General
Played this last night. Fantastic mission, well done. -
Indeed, here is the link for those that have not seen it. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3597545/SuperVasia_CVN_70_Carl_Vinson.html#Post3597545

OK, I had a spare 5 mins so I took a look at your track. I am not 100% sure what you are talking about, but if it is what happens for the few minutes after you engage targets at waypoint 7 then your problem is this: By default your SPI is your waypoint. So when you start a mission you can cycle through waypoints and your SPI will follow. However, after you designate a SPI with and SOI using TMS fwd long, your waypoint is no longer SPI, it is wherever you have designated or are a pointing your SOI. In your case your SPI is whatever your TGP is looking at. If your TGP moves, your SPI will move. You will notice this when you first run in to your targets at WP 7. You turn sharply and your TGP cannot keep up, so your SPI wanders for a second and then returns to its correct place. After waypoint 7 your TGP gets stuck in gimbal roll, so essentially your pod cant turn any more as it has run out of gimbal freedom. This is indicated by the GIMB ROLL on your TGP. This means your TGP can no longer point where you want it to, it will try its best but instead it will point somewhere random. Because your TGP is pointing somewhere random (like up in the air, the side of your fueslage, your wing etc) your SPI will also be flying around the place in random directions. This is where your SPI indicator is going. I noticed that you try changing waypoints, was that to try and remedy the situation? Remember your waypoint isn't SPI, you need to use TMS aft long to make the waypoint SPI again. Until then your SPI will follow your pod in any random direction. What you needed to do there was try boresighting your TGP, or turn in the direction of the gimbal roll arrow to try and unwind your pod. Once you have got rid of your gimbal issue, select TMS aft long to make your steerpoint your SPI, select steerpoint 7 and then slew TGP to it.

Lock On: FC3 - Unwilling to buy previous game
Kaiza replied to Slazi's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yes it is related to licensing, and yep it is a common feeling. The modules that Wags mentioned in his newsletter are an attempt to get away from this requirement, but you will always have to have lockon for FC3. -
Check out this thread if you haven't already. Nothing official or confirmed, but DetroitDiesel mentions talking to Wags in the thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80545&highlight=Wags Take from that what you will, but a wild guess would suggest that ED recognizes that DCS World is probably not ready for a full tank sim just yet.

Took me a while, no doubt you ran into this one too which is even older. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75765&highlight=Broadcast&page=2 Seems to pop up June every year :)

Yep, SADL tasking altitude is a bug. Check this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89833&highlight=Spi In the meantime I use a work around. Put a markpoint on top of the tasking traingle, make the markpoint SPI and then slew. Altitude data is then OK. Just to avoid confusion, assigning target via SADL (what you are doing) is not 'broadcasting SPI'. Broadcasting SPI is when you constantly share your SPI via datalink (TMS left long). Broadcasting SPI should work fine.

Do you have a separate account for the server? You don't need modules to host.

I really love the skins but do agree, IMO the Hueys look much darker in person. With that particular paint the light does have quite an effect on the color though, much like the hercs.

This thread may be of interest Scott http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99051

Yep, not only that, they are all powered off different busses so aside from a total electrics failure (in which case you have bigger problems) there should be no reason for all of them to fail at the same time. Just like in the A-10, if a single display fails you can display the data in composite or other modes on an alternate display.

I think he is just talking about the red kiwi in the roundel on your green skin. It should always face forwards (on both sides). Kiwis dont like flying backwards :) Looking great tho bud, although I think the grey could do with being a little darker.

Cos reinstalling windows, drivers, games, remapping keys, tracking down all my installation files, CDs and keys, losing all my home server settings, remembering all my passwords for a billion forums is not actually all that fun. But also because I have a couple of programs that I lost the keys for when xtra wiped my old email account, and I am afraid I will have trouble reinstalling them.

Great info, thanks Dave! Oh noooo, I suspected as much!

Looks fantastic, nice work.

G'day all, i am considering upgrading from an AMD phenom x4 940 to an i5 3570 (with an associated mboard upgrade). I have had some conflicting info from the computer shops I have got quotes from, and was looking for some input. -Will I need to format my os hard drive and reinstall windows? -Are their any issues with my windows license with the swap? -Are their any other considerations with such an upgrade? Thanks
-
Yep, as I/B has said, you can't shortcut straight to making a location on the TAD the SPI with TMS. You have to make a markpoint first.

Looks fantastic mate, really looking forward to it. I have to agree with the below comment though, the 2D wander light reminds me of the old falcon 2D pits and doesn't match the quality of the rest.

Or do you think you notice warthogs more now that you have played DCS :)
-
G'day all, First of all I would like to say that I love the plates that virtual jabog32 have made, and think it is great that they are included with the DCS install, however the taxiway names on the plates do not match the taxiway markings in the game. In fact they are completely different! This made for an confusing ground/tower training night last night! I see that these were last updated over a year ago, which is probably why they don't match. Any thought to update these plates to match the game? I don't know who the author is of the USAF looking ones included with yawc and iWarthog apps is, but they seem to be accurate.
