  1. 800m - 2km is awfully close for a vikhr, that's guns range. When set to auto you should be within range from about 8.1km. Edit: Just tested minimum launch range in the latest open beta. In auto you will get the X in the HUD (invalid launch cue) at 800m.

  3. Very much appreciate your input S.E.Bulba, clearly you are a wealth of knowledge. Cheers
  4. All good we are all entitled to opinions  In response: A: Eventually, yep when all the hoops have been jumped through, i didn't say it wound never be possible. B: Seriously you can't compare F-16 to Apache, apples and oranges, way too many factors involved especially when no one is privy to ED's internal plan or how & when they choose to develop modules. C: Again apples and oranges, A-10C, F/A-18C, F-16C, mostly well documented in the public arena & sanctioned legally. Just because these aircraft can be simulated to a reasonably high degree of fidelity does NOT mean any aircraft previous in manufacturing date can be simulated.
  5. :megalol:  Personally i think the AH-64 was put on hold due to legal reasons. To model such a unique and advanced airframe (even the AH-64A) to such standards that constitutes an ED module ED would need full compliance/documentation from the manufacturer and access to the real thing which would be difficult i think. A lot of secrecy around the Apache and it's avionics architecture. She ain't no simple gunship.
  6. Good explanation with the rubber band Ranma13. I do understand what you are getting at and you are correct. Another way to see this in game is when sometimes you are in a auto hover, you think you have everything trimmed perfectly, but your heading/yaw AP channel is actually pushing 15% left rudder. (for example) You have a target locked on the shkval to the left side of the HUD, you activate Turn to TGT but the shark struggles to turn because the AP doesn't have enough authority to command the full amount of rudder needed. I've been flying the shark for a long time so i have no issues flying it or understanding this, i just question if the real deal has the issue i described earlier. " My only issue with the trim is when for example. You are in a hover , pitch down 20deg, tap trim & center stick, then the shark will dip the nose double that to 40deg."
  7. I understand. To clarify my previous post, i'm not saying it's an issue with central trimming mode. I know what it does. I'm just saying I don't recall this "jump" trimming issue in BS1. Possibly when BS2 was introduced there was some changes in the behavior. Might have to dig up the vanilla BS1 CD, install and compare the behavior. Edit: Well installing BS1 didn't work. lol Re-read your post Ranma13. Now i'm confused. My only issue with the trim is when for example. You are in a hover , pitch down 20deg, tap trim & center stick, then the shark will dip the nose double that to 40deg. Holding trim while performing the pitch forward to 20deg then releasing trim causes no issue.
  8. I don't recall there being this issue in the early days of the shark. I think the problem appeared when ED introduced the central trimmer mode. Hears a great video to watch for those who haven't seen it as you can hear the trim solenoid clicking.
  9. You do indeed still get an airspeed indication on the HUD with the shkval active, it just reverts to a bar (left side of HUD) showing 0 - 500km/h with 100km/h increments. The caret shows your airspeed.
  10. While i agree the wing flex could use a little tweaking you are wrong about your understanding of what is defined as a bug. A bug is an error in code or logic where a feature ceases to function as intended. If a feature doesn't match real life 100% doesn't mean it's a bug, refining the code to mimic real life is incredibly difficult so there is always going to be an acceptable margin of error.
  11. Left console push buttons such as auto turn to target don't light up at all. Instrument lighting dial is either full on or off. I will look into the module more when i get time but those two were the obvious for me apart from whats already mentioned.
  12. No, you can launch multiple vihkr's IRL, your just making stuff up. Btw the missile spirals because it's control surface is only on one axis, has nothing to do with this "cone" you keep mentioning.
  13. There is a lot to learn regarding trimming the KA-50, it will take some practice. Sometimes you will need to hold the trim button down (as mentioned ) and other times you will need to just click the trim. ( & centre stick afterwards) Both ways have there application. For take off, an easy way is to push about 1/4 stick forward, click trim, then when u pull collective she should be pretty level in your take off accent.
  14. Well exactly as i said if you put yourself in a weak situation it's tactically a bad decision, but hey, it's a simulator and half the fun is the challenge, just don't complain when you get shot down or blame it on lack of RWR.
  15. If you being engaged by a fighter you are either making bad tactical decisions or your pushing the KA-50 into a combat scenario that she wasn't designed for. RWR wont help you in either situation.

    Black Shark 3?

I'll answer that as simply as i can. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ "Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World) 2.5 is a free-to-play digital battlefield game. Our dream is to offer the most authentic and realistic simulation of military aircraft, tanks, ground vehicles and ships possible."

    Black Shark 3?

So you dont play online but your convinced the KA-50 is not used online. Makes sense :megalol:  Yes the KA-50 is used a LOT online, and when flown by a CAPABLE pilot it is a lethal platform.

    Black Shark 3?

WOW! Here you are asking for fantasy versions of the KA-50 with KA-52 systems and you have the gaul to call others who are respected members of the community out as unicorns?:doh:
  19. here we go again! lol Lets duct tape AIM-120 to the hip too!! I got a roll of wire i can donate! lol
  20. 90% of the time i fly without the heading hold but have pitch and roll engaged. It's still super agile without the annoyance of fighting the heading hold.

    Black Shark 3?

3WA, i can post the miz file if you would like to practice. Trick with locking air targets is reduce the tracking gates to the smallest size, this is just the habit i been in but from memory opening the tracking gates gave me lock up issues. Switching weapon mode to manual will also be an advantage especially if the targets hot/ high closure speed. :)

    Black Shark 3?

One things for sure it will be a sad day if ED implement a 3rd pylon on a KA-50. Might as well put AIM-120's on the F/A-18's wingtips just to please people.

    Black Shark 3?

Haven't flown KA-50 for years but set up a quick mission approaching 4x AH-1W's. You can easy get a lock at 7-8km, i waxed two of them while they were hot. The other two started going cold (turned away), i waxed the 3rd at a perpendicular angle, then the forth while in retreat at 4km. :music_whistling::music_whistling:

    Black Shark 3?

Of course not, that's why you replied ;) " Can't even lock up a slow heli against a clear sky." ...... :music_whistling:

    Black Shark 3?

Who says it has to fit into your imaginary modern battle field? Does the spitfire or A-10A fit into your modern battle field? If you cant be effective in the KA-50, go train, get more practice because i can guarantee you most people can be. Are you not happy you get your fantasy imaginary make believe 3rd pylon now? Maybe we can add hellfires and mavericks to the KA too? That would be pretty handy in the "modern battle field".
