  1. Thank you very much for the link and the associated pdf document !
  2. Hi guys ! Last Saturday, on the French side of ED's Discord, there was a discussion about the PFM included with the FC3 modules. While we all agreed that the PFM are a huge step up compared to the old AFM, questions were raised regarding the extent of the Russians PFMs fidelity against the more modern full fidelity Western modules developed by ED. On ED's own website, a section can be found about the PFM process : The explanation indicates that the PFM is based on computer models and then compared, backed up by the test data packs in ED's possession. Our question now ; does this mean that all the PFM modules are created equals regarding their flight models ? US aircrafts are often well documented with open NASA research, are there any similar data openly available for soviet/russian aircraft that ED can look into ? Note that I'm **not** looking for the data itself, I am curious about the process and the eventual differences between the Western and Russian modules. I know ED published some pdf documents in the past about some of their process, I couldn't find any about the PFM, if this pdf exists, I'd be glad to have a link to read about it. Thanks to anyone that could redirect me to an ED document explaining the use of PFM or statements from the team regarding the topic.
  3. Hello Ansirial, A few months ago I asked you if you could implement a way to record our flights as co-pilots / CPGs / RIO for the ever growing multicrew aircrafts in the game. Did you have a chance to look at it ?
  4. Fellow simmers, dear Eagle Dynamics members, This request has been on my mind for a long time now but I actually never took time to write/ask about it until today - sweet, sweet hollidays (or sad to spend a tiny fraction of them in writing this post - your choice). We all love and appreciate the study sim level background around which DCS World is built upon, this is certainly one of the main appeal of the game while we all wait for gaming core features being implemented - looking at you dynamic campaign. Instead of complaining for a lack of dynamic campaign each passing week, I spend *a lot* of time in the mission editor and read a ton of books about defense and geopolitics to write compelling scenarios, mini campaigns. Here's an example : To write these dystopians missions I use several sources as I said : history books, doctrine manuals, studies from thinktanks, universities research teams, intelligence agencies that declassified their documents. One of the most important step to transition between the research and the actual editing is the use of several books from Jane's such as the Land-Based Air Defence volumes to actually know what kind of hardware the protagonists had in their warehouses at the time (I'm mainly interested in Cold War era and 90's). Then I just have to go through my OOBs to get a sense of the organizational structure their formations used. Once I gather the required material I can launch DCS World and its mission editor. And this is where my problems begin. While I understand perfectly that we can't replicate in its entirety the equipment used by the countries depicted on the DCS theaters, I try to find the closest match possible to fill in the blanks, to this effect I rely on the Encyclopedia - yeah I finally get to it. The current implementation of the Encyclopedia does not serve the Study Sim Level on which DCS World relies. The different systems, armored vehicules, MBTs, aircrafts, boats are for most of them not fully described - some does not even have a description. Some equipment has a very thorough description of its conception, operational life and its characterics (autonomy, engagement ranges, altitude ranges, detection ranges, etc.). I wish the Encylcopedia would offer this kind of information for every single item listed in it. Using some of my sources, I see discrepancies in technical data, for which I don't care as they are minimal, but I'd love at least to know exactly how the different hardware performs in game. These informations would help tremendously when writing the INTEL documents to brief the different teams engaged in the scenario/mini-campaign. Of course, there's always a possibility to simply try every single asset and test it to get some sort of basic informations about them. But I think it's not enough and that the Encyclopedia should really live by its name and be the primary source of information for the players and the data geeks some of us are. Oh ! And to close this request/plea I have one last idea. If there is, someday, a comprehensive Encyclopedia in DCS World, why not add an "Export" button to create a kneeboard containing the specifications of the hardware displayed ? Just my two cents. Thank you for those of you who took the time to read this (long) post. Have a nice day.
  6. Hi @Ansirial ! I was wondering if you could add a pop up window in the calendar page when your mouse fly over a flight to read the first few words of the "Notes" case. I use sometimes the Notes to record a particular event and/or the name of the mission flown. Currently we have to click on each flight to open it on a new page and read the notes associated with it. It's a bit cumbersome when you try to find a specific flight among hundreds of entries. Also, did you have a look at the possibility to add an option to mark a flight as a multicrew experience to count how many hours have been spent in a shared aircraft ? The Apache is a few weeks/months away and I surely would appreciate to track this stat when the module is released. Thank you again for the work you've done on this project !
  7. Having a Monster Tech setup I'll stick with it as their ecosystem is already vast and highly customizable.
  8. In the very first post of this topic you'll find a map with blue markers on it. These markers are the airfields from the PLAAF and the ROCAF.
  9. That's an odd reply from ED if that's the case. We already have in DCS some theaters that are hot political topics ; the Georgian/South Ossetian/ Abkhazian conflicts and the latest paid DLC map, the Syrian theater that includes also the Cyprus issue. Should I even mention the upcoming South Atlantic map that is named South Atlantic instead of Malvinas or Falklands to avoid any controversy ? Time will tell, who knows ?
  10. What about the "Event Notes" space ? This is exactly what I use it for.
  11. Logbook is down at the moment, there is some database issue with the website. Hope everything is okay.
  12. It's been a while since you asked and you probably found out that these new pilot models have been released in the latest stable branch release.
  13. I experienced the same problem this week with the Mistral variant in multiplayer. Strangely enough, I tried the same mission in a single player session and the Gazelle worked perfectly.
  14. Hello @Ansirial ! Something strange happened to me yesterday. I had to use Combined Arms as a Tactical Commander during a multiplayer Liberation Campaign. Shocking, right ? Well, I was wondering if you could add "Combined Arms" as an aircraft in the dropdown menu ? Thanks !
  15. I doubt any official ED partner would use a mod to sell a campaign on ED's store. These assets, like others pickups/VBIED mods have to be integrated into the base game if a campaign maker wants to use them in its campaign. You can't expect ED selling a campaign that includes a mod that could be not up to date after a few months.
  16. With the introduction of the new lighting system in 2.7, flying by night is now way more tricky - as it should be. If there is no natural lighting source, aka the moon, your NVGs won't do a thing. Did you check the weather condition before hoping into the aircraft ? If there's no moon or if there is a thick layer of clouds hiding it, you will only be able to fly with the help of the Vivianne system - requires a bit of practice.
  17. Just a qui k note about this one. The mod creator shared on a french forum that he will not share his work with ED to be implemented in the game ; apparently he could not find an agreement with Eagle Dynamics.
  18. I'm surprised my gunner didn't complain about this last time we flew on the Minigun. I will ask him how he manages the minigun in VR.
  19. Sorry for replying this late, I did not have time to fly until today. You were right and your solution worked for us, just had to go back to spectator and rejoin the operator seat after a second request. Thank you ! --- Thanks for taking some time to reply to my question @RedHorse
  20. What problem do you have with the minigun version in VR ? I flew a mission in MC with someone handling the minigun and he did not report any issue ; it was a few weeks back though, perhaps something happened since the last update ?
  21. I'll give it a try later today, thank you for the tip !
  22. Hi everyone, I'm looking for a bit of help regarding the HSI located in the front seat operator cockpit. I flew yesterday as the operator in a multicrew setting while someone else was at the command of the aircraft. During our session I could not find a way to get the HSI to work despite following the starting procedures found in the Chuck's Guide and the official ED's Quick Start Manual. What's odd is that the ARK-15 radio-navigation worked just fine. I could take control of it, enter the radio frequencies and the needle would steer me to the right direction (despite the heading being wrong of course). Does someone else experience any problem with the HSI in the front seat while in multicrew ? Thanks !
  23. Thank you Ansirial ! Yesterday I thought of something while browsing the calendar. Do you think you could change the color of the special events displayed on the monthly calendar ? At the moment, the transfers, promotions, awards share the same color as the missions entries. Not a big deal really, just a little extra to differentiate the different events displayed on the calendar. Thank you again.
  24. Got an email almost two weeks ago after my credit card being charged. The first deliveries should start by the end of July according to the email.
