  1. That's the way it is with these older planes. You have to learn to fly them smoothly. Flying around on full burner and trying to pull tight turns will not have good results.
  2. The lack of HUD info in the F-14B is part of the challenge of flying it. That's just the way it goes. It's not unusual for a plane of that era and as much as an F-14D would be nice. I just don't see that happening any time soon.
  3. Yes. More Tomcat updates plueaze.
  4. Just want to say, I finished the campaign and it was really good. Thanks.
  5. Because they spent huge money developing it (reportedly a million or more) and needed to get a return on their investment. Thus they chose the best performing version of the Tomcat (currently available) first, so that it would make a good impression on the module and therefore making people want to buy it on release day. And it worked very well. The reception was ravenous to say the least. I am looking forward to the A though.
  6. Just finished 4th mission. That was pretty hardcore Top Gun stuff going on there. After knocking down two MiG-29's at range, then encountering 23's. After killing one with a Sidewinder, I looked down to see my Wingman had one stuck to his tail, so I dove on him with guns and chased him around until he tried to go vertical and received a killing blow. Then it was back to the carrier. Foolish Wingman never mentioned he was bingo fuel and bailed out just after going feet wet. I made it back and landed with a 4 wire, in hazy visibility and with 2100 lbs of fuel left.
  7. Yup. Performance was pretty rough back in those days. But it's gotten alot better since then.
  8. Can confirm that this does occasionally happen to me as well. 16 GB RAM.
  9. Also make sure the flaps are all the way up. Sometimes it can be hard to see if it is fully retracted and that will block the wings from sweeping back past a certain point.
  10. As someone who sticks to SP flying.I find Jester to be tolerable. He's not perfect, but he usually does well enough. Though he has plenty of room for improvement and I'm confident Heatblur will keep refining him. Hopefully someday they finish the F-4.
  11. The AB sound is adequate as far as I'm concerned.
  12. Wise choice.:)
  13. Indeed, it is a work of art. :)
  14. I agree. It's not likely the Rafale is obtainable. It's too modern and I really do think the limit of modern jet modules have been reached anyways, aside from the rare exceptions of products from countries that don't care. Getting more modern modules to go against those isn't a feasible way of dealing with them, even though I get the sense some people may feel that way. I also agree that there should be alot more Cold War era stuff, particularly from the Vietnam time period. That stuff is obtainable, there's likely lots of information on them and can be modeled to a high degree of accuracy. I would kill to have that F-4 Phantom module, which should not have been shelved either.
  15. I would say go for it, if you can get it. It's probably more realistically obtainable than some of the other stuff people are proposing.
  16. It would be great to have a Super Hornet. But I doubt Boeing, or the American government would be willing to go along with that at this point in time.
  17. Yup. Would definitely shell out for a Phantom. It's got me intrigued big time and like the Tomcat its a jet that's capable, but not too modern either and being older, it is much more likely to have lots of declassified information, thus making it highly accurate. Come on. Lets go with the F-4 *snaps fingers*.:)
  18. To be fair, the Tomcat is a huge plane. So it shouldn't be totally surprising that it doesn't just blow up when hit by those missiles. They're enough to cripple, but not necessarily completely obliterate the airframe. Heatblur went to alot of trouble to make it right and I trust that it is as lifelike as they could possibly make it.
  19. Would be interested in a MiG-29 and I'm a North American. But it has to be full fidelity. I can't stand those ex Lomac modules with the non interactive cockpits.
  20. Merry Christmas and thanks for the awesome Tomcat. :) It's certainly been the highlight of my flight simming this year and has really gotten me interested in the Vietnam era as well. Hopefully other awesome aircraft of the time period such as an A-6, or F-4 will come down the road too and maybe even an F-14D (just for completion sake).
  21. While admittedly it would be cool to have that new HUD(if not an entire F-14D). I can't see how it would make a huge difference to anything either. The fishbowl works pretty well despite its age.
  22. Basically everything you said at the top post.
  23. You're welcome. Indeed, you know your pushing it too hard when the screen blanks out temporarily that's for sure.:).
  24. You have to learn how to fly smoothly. The plane does not like it if you pull abrupt movements, especially at high speeds. Once I got the feel of that I've almost never had a problem with ripping the wings off or broken INS again
  25. Iranians would also not be flying an F-14B. In any case. Jester is smart. He doesn't want to get sent to the lead mine, or be forced to eat fish eggs.
