Just got her installed and she's beautiful but man is she a handful. The controls are so sensitive and twitchy that it's by far the most difficult helo module to control. Better have a soft hand is all I have to say because cyclic and rudder input movements that would have you flying perfectly stable in the Huey or mi8 will have you upside down in the Gazelle. Anyone else noticing this?
-
Me too. Common sense would have thought that the DCS update would precede the module but apparently not! That's what I get for thinking logically! :megalol:

I can tell you that with the huey gunsights in 3d surround you have to close one eye. I would think it's a byproduct of stereoscopic display.
-
I noticed yesterday that my GPU on DCS with surround was only at about 60% utilized on mostly high settings. I'm positive in regular surround that it was pegged at 99% before these last updates. I'll have to try 3D surround which I know should be pegged at 99%. My fps has dropped a lot with these latest updates too but there are a lot of new features now that didn't exist then so... My old 2600k has been offline for a few months and hasn't gotten any of these updates. I am going to fire it up this week, copy over the old 1.5 and 2.0 directories to my new box and check gpu utilization. I'm starting to think that maybe these latest patches have decreased cpu and gpu utilization causing performance issues for people with higher end setups. Anyone else seeing this?

How are you guys getting this here in the states? The site is in Russian and I assume so is their software. Do they have an English site?
-
Mine do the same as yours. They do not go away either. There is about a 25% frame rate hit with them actually reflecting though.
-
Ahh thanks Flag. Had no idea the mirrors took that many fps though wow. From 47fps with them to 60 without. Maybe I will leave them off then!
-
Noticed today that the mirrors are white in 2.02 with no reflections. Mirrors are of course turned on in options. Is there a way to turn them back on so that they show reflections again?
-
If Gpu usage is not pegged at 99% and cpu at 40% then something is wrong. Either ED has some serious issues to work out with VR and their game engine or maybe you have vsync turned on.

Yes I looped the huey without trouble and knew right away that the flight model wasn't realistic. Still better than anything in FSX but needs LOTS of work nonetheless.

You guys need to check what state your card is in with NI or GPUz. My bet is that oculus home is throttling the card to P2. If so then hard set P2 with your normal clocks with NI until this bug is fixed.
-
You'd need to use Nvidia inspector to modify the P2 state and set it to 1400 or whatever your best o/c speed is. Nvidia is PLAGUED with these throttling issues lately for some reason. It seems like every day there's another app that causes the card to run in P2. I had to do it with my trackir a few months ago because they released a new version that throttled the video card to P2. In fact I was the first person to notify them of the bug so they could fix it. Nvidia inspector and GPUz will show you what state your card is in when running oculus home to see if throttling to P2 is your issue but I'd almost bet it is. Go to the thread below and follow the instructions for setting the P2 state to a higher clock to see if that fixes it. This would have to be done every time you reboot or until ED/Oculus fixes the problem. http://www.overclock.net/t/1267918/guide-nvidia-inspector-gtx670-680-disable-boost-fixed-clock-speed-undervolting

Describe exactly what problems you are having. You're not making much sense but doing a lot of emotional complaining without description. I looked for another post from you with detail about what's going on but didn't see anything. I have a 980ti and a 6700K so I'm interested in the performance as well.

I feel you. Me too. Ridiculous. Don't count on that date holding true either. From the embarrassing website performance on launch date to product shortages etc this company is not instilling confidence at all. I have absolutely ZERO confidence that they will meet the new shipping times. Me thinks they over promised too much product to too many people and drastically underestimated demand and their ability to meet it.

I think you meant to say "Any pull on the collective and you will have to add LEFT". Not right :)

What is 'goes into test' supposed to mean? Does that mean it's available for sale? Hasn't it already been tested?

I have to say I'm looking more forward to Adr1ft and the Apollo 11 experience than I am DCS. I had a buddy of mine who had the DK2 unbeknownst to me and sold it because he got nausea but he said that Apollo 11 thing was incredible. Adr1ft looks simply amazing.

I'm not that impressed with Gear VR. The rez is not that good and the SDE is bad but the ghosting is what is really noticeable. If CV1 is on par with this then the ONLY reason I would keep it is for DCS and FSX and they would both have to have total stereoscopic support and smooth fps. The only thing I've managed to run so far in stereoscopic on the Gear VR is Titans of Space. Everything else is just 2D on the screen.

Read today that people who are supposed to get a March delivery haven't even received their 1-3 week shipping email yet. Oculus is apparently being very tight lipped about their shipping issues and a lot of folks are not happy as you can imagine. At this point it's anyone's guess as to when you will receive your rift. There's some kind of delay that they aren't fessing up to seems to be the general consensus on the reddit forums. Not good...
-
Hmm I'd be concerned since you were one of the earliest and they didn't make their deadline to ship to you in March. I'm 30 and was wondering if they would make April for me. I'm not sweating it though since ED isn't even ready yet like we had thought.
-
I have Chickenhawk and Guts and Glory in my audible queue once I'm done with World War Z. Glad they are nicely done in Audible.

It's April1 in Australia...

These are not things that should be that difficult for them to do. The difficult parts like the models, controls, etc are already done so this is just modification to the flight dynamics and engine management. I honestly don't understand why they haven't done them and completed this module after this many years??

Coming into DCS with hundreds of hours in the dodo in FSX the Huey was a natural for me. The Mi-8 on the other hand is not stable for me and wants to just drop out of the sky when you exit ETL so you really have to be prepared for that. Russian rotors spin opposite to that of American Helos so all control inputs are also reversed. I find the Huey easy to fly and control compared to that thing. The key ingredient for these birds is the controls you use. A good stick and an actual collective mounted to your left along with a good set of pedals will make all the difference. I could not imagine flying these things with a throttle quadrant or dial acting as a collective. When you get good enough as the basics then you'll want to practice low and fast approaches to a stop at hover. Flying 10 feet above the ground and dumping the collective as you pull back on the cyclic to slow forward movement and nudging it with slight collective as you do that to keep your tail from slamming the ground and then anticipating rudder movement to keep from yawing as you come into a hover to set down quick is what you will need to master in order to get your troops on the ground quick and then get out of there.
