  1. FC3 low fidelity set is a good example for starters to DCS as most of the key bindings are common as much as possible. If other mod releases could accept a similar standard protocol wherever possible it would certainly help. A lot of the keys for view changes are standard, but since everyone has different preferences when mapping key presses to hotas buttons it could get very difficult to standardise. I also prefer to use some different sets of key presses for some functions so i have to reset keybindings off the default anyway. tricky one.
  2. And you can do it but need 3rd party free software - vjoy and joystick gremlin. I roped in a spare midi controller with 8 rotary knobs and 8 sliders and 36 buttons to use for volume & brightness controls in F-18, Huey, SU-33, Bf-109 (I dont have the f-14)
  3. Yep I'm sure its a huge conspiracy. What should we do about it?
  4. @Vertigo72 Ive been a huge fan of Condor for many years, a real nice flight sim but well done, and I tried it in VR with a friends Oculus Rift this weekend for the first time - gobsmacked at the feel of immersion and height. Absolutely love it - this and DCS will fuel my purchase of a VR headset v soon. Condor users are less anal about the picture-perfect cockpits but flight dynamics are good and the fact there's so many great (mostly free) landscapes by loyal users is brilliant.
  5. Well said, Baco. Its a bit elitist attitude tbh Hawkeye, I spend hours practicing and still find it far harder than you do. So you're a more skilled flyer than a lot of us newbs. Now we have that out the way is it practical to have a selectable mode you can choose to help with autopilot guiding the plane to the probe when close enough, a bit like the quickstart cheat? Its at the discretion of the player then, to have the experience of tracking down the tanker, getting close enough then getting help with the refuel. I'd use it until I got good enough to do without it.
  6. I heard ED had no intention of doing any further work on the FC3 collection? Or is this incorrect info?
  7. what is that supposed to do? Certainly not nav path follow. Does ED have any incentive to finish off the bugs in these older modules? Its not going to generate revenue for them, and the fanboys just bleat "open beta, open beta, what do you expect?"
  8. Wondering the same, is it not yet implemented or Have I just not done the right key strokes to pop it up?
  9. yep - show all d/loads the select the 64 bit version
  10. not sure if there is any differnce in the programming s/ware, just the pro has a few more buttons and extra price tag
  11. mine s still working fine. reinstall the x52 programming s/ware?

    Saitek X52 Pro

its on logitech support / downloads site https://download01.logi.com/web/ftp/pub/techsupport/simulation/X52_HOTAS_x64_8_0_132_0.exe Documentation is poor, theres a few helpful youtube tutorials but they need a lot of searching.
  13. I have both the old Saitek SST program and the newer Logitech version, both work, I use the newer one personally. Software version 800.213.0, Driver version 8.0.116.0 https://download01.logi.com/web/ftp/pub/techsupport/simulation/X52_HOTAS_x64_8_0_132_0.exe
  14. Is that what DCS is for? To give as historically accurate as possible recreation of WW2 events? Or to give a creative sandbox, immersive and rich for single player and online multiplayer missions, to allow people to build their own sets of missions to challenge their flying and tactics?
  15. go download a couple of f-14 liveries from the dcs world users download area, then you will see the instructions about proper route for file structure. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/ F-14 i a complicated one with loads of separate dds files. If I were you I'd start with a more simple skin like the F-18
  16. I ended up doing a little edit in the lua to give me decent trim at cruise speed
  17. 4. Work your way through the various missions & training tasks built into DCS, you will soon become familiar with the area.
  18. I think the ED team did a great job on the textures for the Channel map, it looks great, a lot of detail but it does of course have quite a hit on framerate. I have to think about dropping back to 1920 res and less graphic detail to run it less jerky.

    su-33 BN help

Been doing my head in today, cant sort BN on the tail of this SU-33 - I'm using the (un)official roughmet patch to get a bit of metallic quality, the nose numbers work fine but i cant get rid of the rectangle patch for the fins and now the numbers have disappeared too. My lua file is getting tied up in knots. Any advice pls? Im assuming its to do with tex06 and bn31 + bn32?
  21. How about using the (un)official RoughMet mod? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303667/
  22. I was happy to take all the help I could get for learning carrier landings but now its disappeared from my display, did they change anything? Can I get it back?
  23. I want to dirty up the deck a bit, and have the texture file downloaded, if i save as a dds where should I put it?
  24. So each band would turn a different light on/off? Thats a good approach, but I wanted a rotary to be able to control the level of lighting for all the different lighting knobs in the Huey and the F-18, to make them adjustable for different flying conditions. Not sure I could I do that with bands, as I'm assigning axes in game for that, not key presses?
