MOOSE - Mission Object Oriented Scripting Framework
dooom replied to FlightControl's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Hmmm - i just noted a DCS folder embedded within the C:\Users\KirkAdmin\Documents\GitHub\MOOSE\Moose Development\Moose\Dcs directory.... is this the submodule we are looking for? I think we were all looking for it under the C:\Users\KirkAdmin\Documents\GitHub\MOOSE\Moose Development hierarchy as per the video. Looking at the lua files, they appear to be the ones we are looking for (i.e. DCSAirbase.lua etc.... albeit there seems to be some new ones like DCSZone.lua in there too) Should we be adding this into the build path for eclipse intellisense? -

FYI i also notice that the Documentation set in the >MOOSE>Moose Training directory is also not synced in my Git Pull.... not a big deal as I can get to them online but FYI nonetheless. -

i am getting the same as awjudge... i tried running both the bat and through the git shell and get nothing. it just drops to a new line and checking the local directory still shows no DCS folder. Here's what I get: Windows PowerShell Copyright © 2016 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:\Users\KirkAdmin\Documents\GitHub\MOOSE [master ≡]> git submodule update --init C:\Users\KirkAdmin\Documents\GitHub\MOOSE [master ≡]> -

yup - you are right on track - there is a youtube development tools setup video that FC did that walks through setting up eclipse/logedit/github etc... from what i see on git, there is a plan to get a new develpment environment setup video up real soon to help us new folks get up and running... some of the framework file structure is not the same as what was in the tutorial vid anymore so i think it stumbled a few of us up... i am really looking forward to it now that i have watched his demonstration videos. -
while i agree its not easy, im not sure i'd agree to any extent that enemies disappear... There is in fact a large prop and guns community flying multiple servers like acg/steel balls/burning skies etc and having a great time engaging and fighting at close range. I wouldnt go as far as to say others share your frustration. I think most of us who are flying WWII through the Vietnam birds are much more concerned with getting appropriate theaters. most of us have actually acclimated to what we have for visibility and are immensely enjoying the sim. But yes - its not perfect... but it is absolutely playable and enjoyable for many of us. You might want to look into servers that have the shift f10 mod installed to help you out. other than that, i'd say do what the rest of us have done and train your eyes to recognize and follow movement. I hate to see anyone discounting what is actually quite a large selection of exquisitely modelled modules -- you're missing out fella. give it time and your eyes will adjust.

MOOSE - Mission Object Oriented Scripting Framework

ctts is the Complete Troop Transport Script by geloxo ... it is a very popular script being used by many of the helicopter mission designers as it allows for the simulated transporation and pickup of troops by helo along with the associated F10 menu commands. It can also allow clients to drop beacons and build forward site units like SAM sites and outposts by transporting crates. Although i know MOOSE has some great board/unboard abilities within, I am unsure how to expand this transportation to mimic the wider funtionality of CTTS yet in terms of the beacons etc. another neat function of CTTS is that the dropped infantry will seek out the enemy i believe. I think this could be achieved with moose by transporting and then using the patrol zone capabiliities but im unsure yet.. i am super looking forward to the setup videos to get my eclipse setup finally all squared away (im stuck at that add DCS to the build part :) ) as soon as i get past that, i'll start playing with LDT and the test missions you provided. great stuff FC! -

FYI the link to the test missions at http://flightcontrol-master.github.io/MOOSE/ is throwing a 404 -
^^ THIS is actually a fantastic idea! It would allow clients to connect to servers that are traking logbook and also allow clients to choose servers that are more "loose" with their gameplay (i.e. training servers... dogfight servers etc)
-
Im actually in favor of making the MP logbook easier to draw upon and manipulate. For the very reasons historical pilots (and the very books I enjoy) necessitate.... It is precisely the storytelling that I want. to be able to look back into my logbook and remember some of the great co-op missions i flew with DoW wingmen and even developing some filters to allow me to run a "Fantasy life" in an online campaign. I'd argue online "Stats" (i prefer the term logbook as opposed to "stats") can offer both a positive and negative effect upon realistic flying... sure some will whore out and camp to jack their online stats - others... like myself ... will use them as an online fantasy life to see how long I can survive and succeed in my MP missions. I applaud the efforts of Burning Skies and really do wish that things were a bit easier to parse and access for all server admins. Likewise - clients should be able to track all of their online activity with ease and not just on servers like =BS=

probably no one better to learn from than David ... spend some time flying wing with him if you can Vag*

i am wondering if there will be ever any hope to be able to have either GCI slots or players call for an AI refueling tanker to launch? -
Cool idea with the 5 min air superiority spawn. Sounds like a a neat miz! Good luck with it.
-
I'm having a hard time understanding what you are trying to demonstrate... sorry for looking silly but thought I'd ask for clarification.
-
i wonder if the new skeletal animations are going to make it into the Normandy release? I'm looking forward to the ground having more "life" as I make low passes/staffing runs. I say Bring on the sneak peak videos! Show me a train going kaboom or some infantry fighting in some hedgerows!!

i2600k 4.5Ghz GTX 1070 32GB RAM only my cpu is legacy at this point - still see no reason to upgrade tho -
i see that infantry are not included in the unit types... is there a reason for that or can the unit type list be modified to include infantry?

there is a script / mod somewhere on the forums to allow you to add/change coalitions on missions in progress.... search around and you should find it. -
DOGS of WAR: FULL MISSION SET RELEASED!
dooom replied to dooom's topic in User Created Missions General
DoW will be back - we are just trying to figure out what we want to be moving forward. There are plenty of servers up now servicing WWII ... some we like the mission design and others not so much. It's the right niche that we are trying to identify now. I don't think we will ever be too terribly interested in airquake missions - rather, we would like to see historically *plausible* scenarios play out that compliment the different module's strengths... with Normandy on the horizon, I think we will have a sandbox to help us figure it out. That said, keep an eye out for our resurgence and tell us what you liked about DoW missions so no babies are thrown out with the proverbial bathwaters. Cheers, -
I'll talk to whiplash - check the docs user files to see if he put them there...
