:( Man... I miss Lilkiki.. I was slowly talking him into bringing some Zombies into a DCS mod. I would have been fun as heck to have the world war Z scenario for fun.

I still want this. Mucho. Johnnyv2pto had a great idea here http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1842223&postcount=194 tying it too the combat objectives and I have been absolutely begging for paratroopers for quite some time. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94320&highlight=paratroopers Think about it - delivering supplies via drop or landing by trafficking between warehouse airfields or dropping paratroopers with hueys doing extraction etc. MMMMMM.... maybe even a DCS level sim dropping angel flare shows and supplies... -ntD8IDZoPE

No communication menu
dooom replied to Kaszub's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
are you using multiple monitors? check to see if dcs isnt rendering your comms menu in the top right where a monitor doesnt exist ... this is what happened to me. -
lol - thats great feedback actually - and easy to fix. To be honest, the 3rd person camera was only active in our missions from a simple, selfish, narcissistic reason. That is to say: we liked looking at ourselves in the mirror and taking screenies/vids. I doubt any of us would have any issue at all turning them off. That said - with the caucuses update we are expecting lots (if not all) of our 20 missions to break... are there any specific missions anyone really wants to see updated or should we just start completely fresh and focus new missions on the new maps?

its up sporadically at the moment. The 3 main admins are a bit punch drunk at the moment and are waiting for 2.0 to hit release. Hopefully traffic will pick up soon as we all find some more real world time to fly when the snow begins to fall.

Server Load (players) estimate with 1.5+?
dooom replied to Thisdale's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
hang tight on the server hardware - rumor has it official dedicated server exe might appear soon™ from DCS. -
this is really similar to an online event i was building for DoW some time ago.. Unfortunately, the complexity of multiple scripts kept it grounded. Hopefully i can revisit the idea with normandy or even with modern ac over Hormuz... here is the microsite i began making - hopefully it gives others some good ideas: NOTE - use the menu on top right of site to access targets/info etc... https://dogsofwarpowderkeg.wordpress.com/ THIS EVENT IS NO LONGER PLANNED - I AM ONLY SHARING FOR INTEREST SAKE... MAYBE SOMEONE WANTS TO FOLLOW THE IDEA FURTHER ...I CAN EVEN SHARE THE MISSION IF YOU WANT TO WORK ON IT.

Server Load (players) estimate with 1.5+?
dooom replied to Thisdale's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
i recall hearing 8 players per MB upload was a good rule of thumb - unfortuantely I cant find the thread anymore. so... at 8 players per mb then 120 players would feasibly require 120/8= 15 MB upload? (absolutely no science behind that math ... just a foggy recollection of something somebody said sometime ago) I used to have a 2MB upload connection and seemed to be pretty stable when testing DoW missions. also keep in mind the bandwidth requirements for any additional services like simple radio... i dont know what it needs per player but it would likely be a small draw too on the server pipe. -
Advice on the Flanker for BVR or engagements in general?
dooom replied to JazonXD's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
if you can see your bandit, the EO is usually the best route for lock. even in head on aspect without burn. I have never had a problem with it. The obvious benefit being that VSS can get a faster lock and leaves no warning. As an aside - check out the Notch video in my signature... its a solid demonstration on how you can close in on an f15 -
cool ! Congrats on dipping your feet into the ME! I'll look forward to giving this a shot.

htere is also a new mod installer on the block by one of our own community members here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=171956

Im kind of in the same camp as Ripcord. I made over 20 .miz over at [DoW] that we hosted on our server and just finally burnt out. The time and frustration to keep multiplayer missions running smoothly became too much of a factor so I stepped away for a much needed vacation from the ME. That editor and the subsequent behavior of AI really is the only place in DCS that i do not enjoy at the moment... truth be told, I have been enjoying my mission making hiatus immensely by re-kindling my love affair with old and new modules on other servers. (f5-E = awesome sauce) I'll return to mission making but for the time being I'm exhausted from the fiddling about. MOOSE looks fantastic but unfortunately still requires some significant investments to maintain release candidates and I wasn't surprised to see FC step away... it reminded me of the insane amount of work SNAFU/Stonehouse/Lukrop put into the Dynamic CAP/GCI scripts - so much potential but ultimately it was fractured and suffered a slippery slope of QA testing and fiddling. TL;DR I'm also looking forward to changes with the ME and AI behaviour.

Setting ground targets for enemy ground pounders
dooom replied to SierraFox's topic in Mission Editor
you need to read up on the advanced waypoint - it will open a new frame to allow you to select targets etc - read page 144/152 of DCS user manual. That should point you in right direction. -

i would also love this - i remember when i was reading the memoirs by Ed Macy and he recalled having to distinguish between unarmed civilians and enemy combatants whilst prosecuting targets in the ah-64. It would be very immersive to be able to build precision strike missions over urban areas with triggers to penalize collateral damage to civilians.
-
im having trouble imagining what if any immersive boost oculus could offer over a large 4k screen with head tracker here. It seems the loss of 3D would not be replaced by any other advantage. Just can't see it working for the $$$ - sorry. Just go and try out a galaxy VR at your local cell phone store.
-
if you are asking if you can trigger an artillary strike then yes... I am sorry but I'm having trouble understanding your question.. perhaps if you re-phrase it?
-
angola and central africa would be very cool - great idea
-
+1 Solty I'd only add that getting some serious comfort in with the gyro sight is also critical - practice practice and practice more to ensure your shots count. The gyro is underrated and can make a huge difference against the average 109 player

I'm not saying it *is* Peenamunde on the Baltic... I am just saying that the building in his avatar and the little ramp on the lower left remind me of similar structures found at Peenamunde. Maybe they are there to offer some Normandy V1-2 sites? Although I am pretty sure that the V2s being rifled from France were mostly on mobile units. Not sure that a 2 story stucture would be present. ... Its the best my feeble brain could muster.
-
it would be so awesome to see a simulated recon role be implemented. having the recon pop up as an inclusion into the briefing would be so cool. Dicing could really spice up the collection of intel.

*tinfoil hat ON* I think it is a Peenamunde-esque launch tower... bottom left corner of his avatar reminds me of a V1 launch ramp and the building has similarities to the sites at Peenamunde with erector rigging. *tinfoil hat OFF*
