  1. ... there is about a 200-300$ price difference between the 1080 and 1070 in canada... I'm ok to spend the money but will happily save$$$ if the benefit is minimal. thanks for the honesty
  2. map your zoom... seat belts hold you back
  3. oh so apropos.....
  4. water cooling just stopped at Fukushima Daichi Nuclear Power Plant Reactor #3.... Not good news. :(
  5. dang - water is rushing out to sea... tsunami warning ... I'm watching live here: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/live/
  6. SWITCHED CONDITION ->HELO IN ZONE ->ILLUMINATION ROUND (ALT 250)
  7. hmmm - looking at that model it makes me hopeful that we will indeed see Afghanistan offered to the public... Isn't that garb a pretty specific/regional attire typically seen in Pakistan/Eastern Afghanistan? edit: yeah - its called a "Pakol" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pakol
  8. Second listen and I gotta say - VERY well done!!
  9. As a fellow musician , cheers to you for putting your original out there!
  10. as mentioned above.. the runway numbers will always correlate with your heading upon landing... i.e. RWY 18 means you will be heading 180 south on approach. The numbers on each end will therefore be reciprocal of each other... i.e. if you have RWY 27 then the other end of the runway must be RWY 09 .. The easiest way to ensure you are landing on the right RWY is to use your HSI properly and dial in the course so that you can line up. Hope that helps.
  11. I think a range would be a great addition to the new Caucuses release as this map will presumably remain the free one distributed with DCSW. I used to love the quick training jaunts to KOTAR in BMS and I'd love to see a functional range tucked away in the south corners of our map... maybe somewhere in the SE not far from Tblisi near the armenian border areas. I'd like to see something marked with numbered images like the following video - it could rally help us train with Combined arms as well as coordinated target prosecution. Tucking it away in the south corners of the map would not conflict with planned mission making either.
  12. flew the su33 today with another fella in multiplayer.. after a few chat inputs/ radio calls i noted my cursor was no longer visible thus making f10 or menue selections quite difficult. the cursor remained invisible even after i crashed which made it hard to exit the client. I also noted the cursor remained invisible at the MP server list and main DCS GUI. restarting fixed the problem. I cannot reproduce yet but my flight partner in the su33 on the server also ran into the issue as well so it is not isolated to my gameplay.
  13. ... as mentioned in today's weekend update? It sounds like we will soon have the ability to "markup" the F10 map and have our notes visible to the coalition. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'd like to have a bit more info if possible as the impact for multiplayer could be both positive and negative. On the positive side - I think updating intel and sharing info is great... on the downside, I worry that this will decrease the motivation to get on comms, use SADL, DataLink or even learn bullseye calls. I wonder if the mission maker will ahve the power to turn this on/off or if we can limit the notes visibility to the client only? i.e. I like the idea of marking notes - its kind of reminiscent of using the good old grease pencil... not sure I'm on board with everyone seeing my notes though.
  14. Hey all - what is the kneeboard call for Monitor.lua? I have everything being exported to a second monitor just fine except the kneeboard... i tried the following but it doesnt work: Kneeboard = { x = 2370; -- 2370 y = screen.height -900; -- 900 width = 700; -- 700 height = 900; -- 900 }
  15. i dont know but I always tell people to hop into whatever you have fun with. Don't make this work and just enjoy it mate. Believe it or not, one of the greatest things i love about DCS is forgetting how to do something in a module because it means i can return to it later and get that thrill of "getting something to work" all over again. I am constantly hopping between modules and having a blast doing it. Shagrat is right - its about your personal preference... i guess i am just saying make sure you listen to what your brain is telling you - if you are not enjoying a module then go do something else... I also have all the modules and am quite happy with the realization I will be learning/relearning the systems for quite some time. I'm certainly not bored. :)
  16. ah man ... that is a super drag. :(
  17. good luck with it gav... its nice to see some wwii birds find some airtime over Nevada. Cheers,
  18. i might suggest you adopt some sort of version naming convention i.e. v 1.X.X just so folks know which one they are using. also - i downloaded the dropbox version and noted that i couldnt see the f5e of mig 21... is the version on db up to date? i will say i enjoyed the miz i flew... took a su27 on ground attack from kras to gelendzhik to hit a few ground target... just the right amount... i killed 2 l39 handily on my way and almost killed the ground targets in my first sweep. I enjoyed it. good concept - keep working on it mate.
  19. I can only imagine such port transits must really be very significant photo ops for the military - regardless of the nation/alliance. My guess is that even those are the shiniest planes int he hangar with a fresh coat of red paint on the ladders. It is really a striking sight indeed.
  20. bellissimo
  21. yes the IADS script is likely your best route... You did get me thinking though... we have a BOMB IN ZONE trigger which allows flag based ME logic to be based off the presence of these munitions.... maybe the trigger should be expanded in the ME to be MUNITIONS IN ZONE and include the missiles as well?
  22. i love how minimalist VR will allow us to become. ^^ that is awesome
  23. closest i could find: PUMP: A briefed maneuver to minimize closure on the threat or geographical boundary with the intent to re-engage. Used to initiate a Grinder tactic. GRINDER: An excellent strategy to implement this basic tactic is called a "grinder" - both elements split up, separated by some miles and then engage/defend in alternating bounds. A good formation to accomplish this is a box, in which element 1 is spread, followed by a 5 mile gap and then element 2 in spread behind them.
  24. as above - can I have a buddy in ka50 lase for a GBU?
