  1. Gigabyte is prepping two version of the 3080 Ti (Aorus and Gaming OC). Both will have 20GB of GDDR6X.
  2. Thanks for updating. Suggestion: can the ED team do some grooming of the backlog to make all these little, "quality of life" bug fixes for the more "simple" problems a priority? Maybe make every second or third sprint cycle about these types of bugs - at least some of them? Continually plucking low hanging fruit leads to an empty tree. They aren't sexy bugs and revisiting old code sucks sometimes but it's got to be done and they really do lift the spirits of the userbase when fixed. I know in my case fixing ADF in the Yak really made my day/week/month. I may have a party when the Channel map gets above 0 degrees. :) Besides, fixing these types of bugs will get rid of lots of continual whining on the forum. Ha!
  3. Hype train's gonna hype.
  4. The 3060 Ti is going to be launched in the next few weeks. I'm waiting for a 3080 Ti. I basically want a 3080 with more VRAM (16GB like the leaked 3070 Ti). I am hoping that is what the configuration will be when released. I expect this card will appear after the AMD release. Can't let AMD have the one-up on VRAM. That said, my current 2070 Super "only" has 8GB in it and it has no problems in DCS. Watching the VRAM usage it percolates between 95-100% constantly on heavy maps like the Channel and Syria without issues (no stutters). The new cards have more bandwidth everywhere so maybe more VRAM is not needed. I'm still taking a waitnsee tact for future proofing though. AMD CPUs don't interest me. The 10700k I have now does everything I need and I see the prices are starting to come down already. I'm debating a new build for one of my Linux workstations - will probably wait for the next round of Intel desktop CPUs and upgrade the DCS rig and hand-me-down the 10700K to the Linux box.
  5. I don't know why, but this module makes me smile. :) I haven't used it much, in fact, mostly ignored it since I got it during the sale in the spring. Before DCS I didn't know this aircraft existed so I'm not sure why I bought it. It's kind of cute looking, kind of like a pudgy fancy goldfish or a fat bulldog/pug or something. Tonight I got Chuck's guide out again and tried doing some take offs and stuff. The cockpit with it's levers and spinny things is like some kind of advanced Rube Goldberg machine. It's well made and so different that it is intriguing. I've mostly mastered handling the rest of the warbirds but hell if I can get this thing off the ground in a reasonable manner. A challenge! Good stuff! Anyway, fun aircraft and good job to the dev that put this together.
  6. Yep, it needs to be moved into the lock position. Pulling back on the stick is meant to increase the force on the wheel to make the wheel have a higher friction against the runway surface and as a result control the tail. In the Bf109 there is no back stick, wheel lock mechanism. Think about this, with no up elevator to drive the tail down with prop wash as you dial in more power the tail will get lighter and lighter and lead to having almost no longitudinal control of the airplane. You get the idea, just fleshing it out for anyone else following along. We can go down the rabbit hole of analyzing the effect the caster angle of the tail wheel has on the handling dynamics (real, simulated match?) but short of having access to the src code between them it's a futile exercise. We are just users here.
  7. Wow! So dark in your cockpit. Out of curiosity what do you have your gamma set to? You need to pull back on the joystick to force the tail down until the rudder has enough airflow over it to be effective. It is important to lock the rear tail wheel for takeoffs (although once experienced it's not that big a deal). This is why the 109 is a little easier to get off the ground and land than the Spitfire (in DCS - can't speak to real aircraft). Holding the stick back to give more tail authority until air speed is high enough to let it lift will get you most of the way there I'd think. There's a lot going during take off in this beastie - you're close - you'll get it soon!
  8. I dunno... I haven't flown the 109 in a while but I remember it being pretty straightforward compared to the Spit. Certainly not a cockpit 'spaz-fest' trying to keep it down the runway centre line. Long shot: curve or limit on your aileron control maybe? Mission set up with a big runway level crosswind?
  9. Trim tab tuning (external, on ground bending of tabs) is not available in game for the P-51. Some of the aircraft do allow you to tune via the special tab IIRC (Bf-109, Yak, others, IIRC). For the aircraft that don't present this in the GUI you can modify .lua files but this is not recommended unless you know what you are doing. However, this should not be necessary! If the aircraft is not responding to trimming that makes me think that you have "noise" in your controls either from : having a bad device (joystick potentiometer worn), conflict with another device (e.g. same axis bound on joystick and a car steering wheel) or, the axis is not originally centered at game start up. The P-51 in DCS is probably the easiest warbird / taildragging aircraft in DCS to get trimmed at steady-state attitude, engine settings, and speed. HTH
  10. It'll probably run fine on a VM if you install the old OS to go with it. I have an old Windows 2000 VM I keep around for reading the factory service manuals for one of my hobby vehicles. It kind of works on Win10 but really works in properly in the Win2K VM. Ancient versions of flash and other adobe crapware... For free VM software, Virtualbox on Windows is adequate, libvirtd on Linux will run anything you throw at it but faster and smoother, etc. HTH

Yak-50 Variant? I'd buy the module a second time for that.

  13. THIS ^^^ NVIDIA is notorious for dropping stuff already in the pipeline after AMD shows their cards.
  14. Of course this is all irrelevant when all 30?0 cards disappear into mining rigs. Actually, maybe there is method to the madness of the power required to drive these things.
  15. Latest rumours are that AMD Big Navi, 6900Xt, whatever will be ~5% better than NVIDIA 3070 and that's all AMD has in the tank. So, there's that. In comparison 3080-3090 will be game changing. All BS till real benchmarks prove reality though. Regardless - can't go wrong with any of them.
  16. Depends. Adobe products leverage Intel QuickSync hence the question about tools.
  17. 3080 will have 10GB GDDR6X, 3090 will have 24GB GDDR6X. 3070 will have 10GB GDDR6 (not X), rumoured 3070 Ti/Super will have 16GB GDDR6 (not X). A screaming deal on a 2080Ti is a screaming deal regardless. I'd still advise to wait for real world bench marks on the new stuff before buying a 20?0 card though - unless a screaming deal is like $300 or less and/or you just can't stretch to $500.
  18. THIS ^^^ Using successfully in my missions. Single 1x1 pad and some air lifted "environment" on top of a plareau makes for a great, simple, unobtrusive gas-n-go site for helis and bush flying in the Yak.
  19. What video editing tool are you using? Video editing likes lots of cores. 5.7k video needs lots of cores. On this list I'd be considering 3800XT and 10700K unless you can afford more cores. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html Build the rest of the system time around that choice. You can spend the rest of your life waiting for the next best CPU. If you are spending hours and hours in front of the computer daily buy now and get immediate value.
  20. How fix? Disable/enable cargo don't work.
  21. There is potential if the API/libraries exist for AI ML usage - obviously AI ML doesn't leverage DX* but could take advantage of what RTX IO offers so it'll probably happen if it doesn't already.
  22. 3070 Ti (16GB GDDR6)
  23. Only if you are playing a title that supports NVIDIA direct connecting the GPU to the storage over PCIe4 for loading texture maps. Video at 4K and similar mainstream VR headset resolutions doesn't saturate PCIe3. Don't hold your breathe waiting for this feature in DCS. $0.02
  24. Is there a way to list all the Mods and Liveries used in a mission? Scripts maybe?
