@ Phantom_Mark It works OK for the AFM aircraft but for the others it can be a real pain, however I've just been trying it again and it seems pretty good :) .. I'll try adjusting the trimgain and shakegain in the contactor.cfg to see if I can improve things further but right now it's working better than ever. Although I've always assumed that you trim the aircraft so you can center the stick. I mean how does trim actually work? .. Isn't it trim specific control surfaces on the wings? If the stick moves while trimming then that suggests that the main control surfaces are moving which could lead to you not having any stick/yoke movement left to pull up or push forward..wouldn't it? However I do prefer the way it works in every other flightsim and when you have FFB disabled..ie trimming to center the joystistick etc. But I'm gonna test this out more and see how it goes over the next few days. It's a lot more than just a rumble when your jet is hit. It basically gives you the seat of the pants feel for the aircraft you're flying. There are two types of forces that are being adjusted, one is the centering force for things like trim and speed. This means your stick will lean in the direction it's being trimmed or needs to be trimmed.. Then there's the rumble/stick shaker that lets you know you're using the cannon on the AFM aircraft :smilewink: and tells you the precise moment the aircraft is going to depart your control and when it does stall the stick shakes just like it does in most modern aircraft. I have to say that the most amazing Force Feedback experience you can have is with IL2. I'm not kidding it's the most complete flying experience you can have and with out a doubt the best use of FFB there is. From the way the stick wobbles when the gear is lowered to the way you ride the edge of the stall it is the best there is .. even if you don't like WWII combat you will get to love it with a FFB stick for sure.

I just uploaded it: it's called RTC and it's funny you mention racing sims becasue it was made for the M$SW racing wheel. I got the tip from M$ Flightsimulator crowd when searching for the issue with my FF2 where it was stuck on the hardest centering tension when flying Lockon. Use either 1.3 or 1.4 either one will work and neither installs on your PC. Just run RTC and then launch Lockon and while in game or map view press F10 then F6 to lighten the tension or F7 to increase it. The only issue is that I havent been able to figure out how to remap the RTC keys so I had to remap the keys from F10 to F5 in lockon but once you do that once its no big deal. Although I don't know how it will work with FFB enabled in LO but its worth a try. RTC EDIT: I just tried it and with "FFB = true" RTC will pretty much override that command and you'll loose the feedback and only be able to control the centering forces like me. But if you have too many issues with FFB enabled then try RTC out and see. I have to say though that after just trying FFB again in LO it seemed to work better than I remember... could be the updated VIA drivers I installed since the last time I tried it, still the damn problem of the stick having to be forced forwards or backwards after trimming ... Later on I'll see if I can deal with that. If not then no big deal centering forces feel better than springs any day.

I'm glad I'm not the only one still carrying the Force Feedback 2 torch :D. I've had mine since 2000 when they first came out and its seen me through IL2, Fs2000 to Fs9, Flanker and Lockon FC. I got lucky about two years ago when in a PC store they had a brand new one up for sale at a third of the price, so I grabbed it and have been using it ever since, leaving my original one with the green light and hard plastic grip as a spare. Unfortunately I don't use FFB in LO:FC becasue of the lack of control I experience with all aircraft and when you trim the stick is pulled forward which just makes it too uncomfortable to fly. When you trim you're trying center the stick so you don't have to maintain a forward or back pressure but what happens in LO:FC is just bizzare. Also I have to run a separate program to control the centering force but this actually works quite well becasue I can increase or decrease the tension while flying :) . Finally:smilewink: Does anyone know if Black Shark will truly support force feedback? I'm hoping so becasue the forces that work on the AFM models are just awesome.

I'm sure you'll be able to land on any hard surface. I remember seeing a video by GA where he landed the KA-50 on a moving train. Oh; and in Lockon: FC you can land the SU-25/T (with AFM) pretty much anywhere that's feasible. I once got hit and landed my Su25T on a beach on the coast of the Ukraine :D .

I want an F18 more than anyone so I say go for it but why post this in the chit chat forum? You should really post this in the DCS - General Discussion forum first.

Just wondering if Black Shark will have an ingame browser so we can connect to online games/ severs. If not will it be possible to make BS compatible with Xfire? Part of what makes first person shooters so popular is the ease in which you can connect to other players online but for some reason flightsims always make you jump through hoops. HL is great no doubt about that but imagine how popular Lockon would be if you could connect to other players simply by using an ingame browser or Xfire with its many different functions to track friends, ingame messaging etc. From Xfire's FAQ's; * Why can't I join games like JointOps and Ravenshield? These developers do not allow their multi-player servers to be joined using a "command line". This is the way Xfire allows you to "one click join" into servers. Since there is no joining, there is no server list in the Xfire servers tab. You should still be able to launch the game from Xfire and track your hours.

Great Job to all involved :thumbup:.. I will be going through the list giving reps to everyone I can :v:

Anyone else play this? Well I'm not sure if COD4 actually qualifies as a %100 sim but it still has some very unique features that's well worth checking out, that is if you like Military first person shooters. The weapons are modeled very well in fact IMO no other game comes close in the visual department and the sound and feel of firing them are unmatched too, even better than AA or ArmA. But in terms of general weapons physics ie ballistic, aiming etc? Well it's good enough ;) but the most amazing thing about all of this is how good the frame rates are with all the eye candy. I mean its one of the best looking games I've played and my less than medium PC's FPS tops out at the limit of 91 all the time, even online in rooms of 50 people and thats with constant air strikes, helicopters etc. Now online is the greatest disappointment for me becasue COD 4 plays out like a complete arcade game and I mean it puts the "A" in Arcade. In a TDM (team death match) room of 50 players COD 4 makes Quake look like a slow considered tactical sim and even in the smaller rooms arcade type play is the norm. This isn't a problem on the whole but the single player campaign is really short so you'll no doubt want to go online and check things out but unfortunately COD 4 isn't made for the sim market. I was surprised at that to be honest seeing as they wheel around that retired military guy who says how realistic everything is but it's still well worth playing even if you only play it in single player mode or maybe you like Quake style shootem ups and if that's the case then you'll be in FPS heaven :). BTW anyone know where the Official forums for COD 4 are? You goto the site and it's not listed..

What is your preferred combat helicopter and why??
Cosmonaut replied to - Piloto da Morte -'s topic in Military and Aviation
What, high pitch turbine noise isn't pretty!! Of course it is man :smilewink: . Although you've got a point about the blades, it's the characteristic "Huey" sound of the blades chop, chop, chopping through the air that really makes the music :music_whistling: but with helicopters I tend to lump all that into one and call it engine noise/sound  . -

Cobra  I like the sound of the Huey engine although I don't know if it actually uses the same engine anymore but from the ones I've heard it sounds pretty cool anyway. Also I like skids on a chopper, for some reason it looks better to me... As you can see my decision is based purely on what matters in an attack helicopter, sound and looks ;) -
Payable Demo option - whats your opininon?
Cosmonaut replied to hreich's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I hope ED choose another CP too but even if they don't then why not just do what I did when FC was released and just wait for the cd version to come out. I don't think anyones had any major issues with the CD version of FC and you don't need an internet connection to install it .. heck you only need the CD once a week so its even more convenient than the DL version. -

I wanted to scream hell no but after thinking about it, I would say "maybe". It would depend on price, scope of what was in the demo and how far off the final product is. I like a good car racing sim and if I had a PS3 I would definitely buy GT 5 Prologue, which is effectively a demo .. but what a demo. 60 cars, 6 tracks (that can be reversed) and supports online play too. If the BS demo was something like that and the final version of BS was like a year away from now then Yeah I'd probably buy a demo. You need to add a maybe :v: -
Modman 6.3.0.1 can do exactly what you are describing. You can view the files in Modmans CDDS Explorer and then check the Box on the left, for the the files you want to extract, and then click the Extract button or you can just click Extract All and all of the files within the CDDS will be extracted.

Dead!:noexpression: The way the ranking system works it makes it a pain in the butt to keep it going and after a while you just get tired of trying. Sometimes I'll build a small campaign and see how much rank I can accumulate by the end but for the most part I rarely ever check the LOG. .. I just checked the log, while I'm writing this, and it looks like I've got the Highest rank for all pilots LOL I must have messed with something in the .xml file .. all medals too :P

I think I preferred the arrows :v: .

Damn that's huge :shocking: I was hoping to get one of these by the end of the year  .

They are all part of version 3. :) . The first one I wrote was Version 1 then I expanded it to include creating slots so I called it version 2.. Now with the release of the new modman I updated version 2 so its compatible with Modman 6.3.0.1... as well as some new art work and the reorganizing of a few things.

Off the the top of my head: Titanic :cry_2: :puke::puke: Pearl Harbor :puke::puke: Nacho Libre :puke: couldn't even finish the 1st 10mins and it put me off Jack Black completely. Any Ben Stiller or Will Ferrell movie.. Although Something About Marry and Old School were hOlarious. Matrix 2 and 3.. :puke: Proof the Bros director team stole the first script. Ben Affleck .. Nothing more to say. Angelina Jolie .. :puke: :cry_2: Particularly Tomb Raider/s .. Only watched the first one and thought OMG all that money spent on such utter crapola .. so of course they made another one. My list goes on :v:
