  1. It's not ironic at all. People buy it to enjoy flying it. We read a review, watch some videos, and decide that the plane looks cool and might be fun. That's why I bought the Yak-52. It looked interesting and fun to fly.
  2. And even though I keep landing at Bodo on the Kola map I bought in DCS, I still never wake up in Norway in real life.
  3. The Aghan map is looking sweet. Can't wait for the DL to finish and try it out.
  4. Not if it's fun.
  5. Excellent news on the Afghan map. As for: AI Aircraft. Mi-28 explodes during start from a small little helipad - fixed. Is there a difference between small helipads, little helipads, and "small little" helipads? This could have significant tactical consequences.

    Goodbye DCS?

But it also means that without DCS, all we'd have would be the civvy sims with mushy flight models and no "Kaboom!" I think we're lucky to have that one option.

    Goodbye DCS?

Damn straight! Where else can we get hyper-detailed military jets to fly around? The civvy sim military jets have FMs that feel like melted ice cream and don't look nearly as good. And they have no "Kaboom!" We get the tight FMs, the best aircraft eye candy, and the "Kaboom!"
  8. That's pretty funny, I didn't even think of that. I meant in real life, when do you enjoy sitting down and flying? I should have been more clear.
  9. I prefer early morning, which is not convenient at times, work and all that. But flying just before sunrise with a cup of coffee is my my favourite time. And I'm curious what others think.
  10. I'm hot and heavy for it, but I hope "later this year" turns out to be later this month.
  11. That was a mighty short newsletter. Deephack's podcast will need more things to talk about tomorrow.
  12. This is part of the reason I'm not always as patient as I should be when people....... express concern, about paying for asset packs. It's just a few bucks, and it's only the second set. It's not like that other older sim with a long series of micro transactions where you paid for a scarf your pilot could wear. And each colour was another $1. That's not what's going on here. This is a heavy duty, very sophisticated flightsim. And **** ain't free. Ya want more, ya gotta pay for more. If ED wants $10 or whatever for PTO assets and that makes my flights better, I'm fine with that. Just make cool stuff and I'm happy to pay for it.
  13. Apologies if I sounded harsh. My point is that we'll never get perfection, or anything remotely close in many cases, but we will get enough to make for enjoyable flying. I'm happy with the WWII Assets pack. I think I paid about $10 and I definitely got my money's worth considering how often I use it.
  14. Yes. Just like the rest of us. Or you could not buy it. Completely up to you. It is what it is and what you make of it. I just want to have as many enjoyable flights as possible and if that means another $10 or $15 for some PTO assets, so be it. I want as big and fat and fancy a flightsim experience as I can get and I'm well aware it's not going to happen for free.
  15. Then again the flightsim representations of the PTO, at least at this moment, are weak to non-existent. There might be other stuff on the (distant) horizon elsewhere, but DCS has the pre-existing footprint. If we get funky carrier action and Hellcats and Corsairs and even AI Japanese planes and assets in something approaching a cohesive package, that's a great big fat flightsim thing and might be very alluring to a chunk of flyers. I'm not a huge PTO guy, but there's no way I'm passing up Hellcats and Zeros with top shelf eye candy. That's some flying fun I want a piece of.
  16. If there's one statement from ED that I trust as if it came from Heaven on High, it's when they say, regarding anything, that "it will take years". I have complete confidence in them on that issue.
  17. Shades of Captain Sim.
  18. And Steam accepts returns. So if you have the main site install and a Steam install, you get the free trials and the conveniences of Steam. I have no complaints. I've bought and retuned four modules, I think, and re-purchased all but one of them. That's a nice convenience to have. I don't misuse it as a substitute free trial, but I like that I can buy something just released that I want, and if I have an instant "Bleah!" reaction, I can return it.
  19. Steam has it's own advantages. I'm sticking with it.
  20. As stated, just have a second install from the main site and use that for the free trials. I've been doing that for years. No muss, no fuss.

    F15E max speed

Somewhere maybe. That was in the 90s. Now this is gratuitous banter, but since you mentioned a sense of humour... At that same airshow, people had to walk down a taxiway to get from here to there. At one point there were cables going across the taxiway covered by a piece of metal. At that spot beside the taxiway were some bleachers with some air force guys sitting on them. And being a bit of a tool, obviously I tripped on the metal thing covering the wires, and the Air Force guys started cheering and held up signs with 8.1 7.2 9.0. They were scoring everyone that tripped. Florida is funny.

    F15E max speed

Reminds of being at an airshow at the McDill AFB in Tampa years back, and the was an F-117 on display. It was roped off, there was a sign with some info, chocks on the ground, a ladder going up the cockpit...... but no plane.
  23. I'll give a bit, and maybe see if it downloaded and I missed it somehow, and then I'll do that. I'll check the update in the game too. Thank for getting back to me. Edit: It says - "Installed content updated: Feb 5, 2025 at 10:05 AM" Must have been a small update and maybe I cleared it without knowing. Sorry about the bother.
