THE F-14 RADAR INTERCEPT OFFICER
MrExplosion replied to Rudel_chw's topic in Heatblur F-14 A&B Tutorials
Wooow @ all that data. That'll take a while to look over and digest. Thanks for the heads up! -
Yes, but the 2 I mentioned are getting more and more popular. LFDM is almost full every evening and Storm of War is getting up there as well. You should probably get in there right now, before all slots are taken ;)
-
Hmm, I've always found the AI in that other sim to be way easier than in DCS. Anyway, there are some pretty good multiplayer servers for WW2 out there (LFDM and SoW for Europe) and the BF109 is a nice module, that can compete with the allied birds.
-
The other sim just doesnt move the player-viewpoint any further if it would cross canopy boundaries and it doesnt make you sick at all. Simple and efficient fix, imo. Would just require someone working on it for a day :)
-
The AI just jettisons the pods without using the rockets. You can do this as well. So there is 2 bugs with the rocket pods imo: - AI not using rockets - Jettison not working after rocket has been fired

Bombing Training Mission - Bomb won't drop??
MrExplosion replied to Greyman's topic in DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Anton
Yup - I noticed that as well. -
Surprise anouncement: Rendering less objects will improve rendering performance. If we render nothing it's really fast!
-
Yes. There is a similar thread on the Anton's bug section.

Anton worth grabbing compared to other WW2 modules?
MrExplosion replied to Aluminum Donkey's topic in DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Anton
Interesting. I dont see how, tho, since basically every important benchmark for dogfighting is inferior. -
Yep! There is an outdated mod, but that adds all kinds of modern beacons to the map. I saw that with moose you can build your own beacons - not sure if you could do a proper implementation for the German ILS beacons tho, since left beacon needs to send another sound than right beacon and they would need to overlap when the aircraft is in the cross section of both beams. I might fiddle around with it over the weekend - see whats possible.

AI, yes. But that is quite predictable. :) -
I do know now. They don't.

Yes, the A8 is dead meat in Air to Air and all requests to add a historical feature that improves it remain unanswered. So, if you want look at nice textures and serve as breakfast for Spitfires, go get the Anton. :) If you read the marketing text in the shop that says "The Spitfire LF Mk.IX and the Fw 190 A-8 make excellent counterparts for DCS World." Dont believe it as it as a straightforward lie. If you think all the different ground attack weapons for the Anton are nice to play with, dont believe that either, because they are implemented to be exactly the same. -
The bigger airports should be equipped with radio beacons used by the AFN-2 system in the German warbirds (not sure about the allied birds) for a instrument landing approach.
-
Channel 1 was set to transmit your position to a radar officer, while receive was tuned to channel 2 frequency. This is unfortunately not implemented at all, since there is no radar station to receive your position in the first place. :) I tested AFN-2 in Caucasus and range and Voreinflugzeichen seemed to be ok. Acoustic is implemented and maybe correct for Georgian beacons but German beacons accoustics told you if you were left or right of slope or approaching correctly.

Normandy Aerodrome Charts by Capt Zeen
MrExplosion replied to Capt Zeen's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
What dioes the HF frequency stand for and does anyone if we can use ILS on any of those airfields? -
I have tested it in the Anton yesterday and it works in Caucasus. I dont know if the airfields on Normandy have ILS beacons. Still looking into that and glad if anyone can provide information.
-
I feel like they are going for a big bang release for WW2 material. Ju88, P-47, Channel Map, Damage Model, improved AI flight model and new visuals all due Q2 2020. You heard it here first :)
-
So from what I understand what is not implemented about the system at the moment is: - missing Voreinflugzeichen - not enough range - wrong frequency used - missing acoustic signal Correct? I will make a mission tonight and test this a bit for myself. Do you think you could post a link to a PDF document of that manual? :)

No, you communicate with ATC on channel 4. Channel 1 is for sending information to your radar officer who guides you to a target (JLO) Channel 2 is for flight coms and listening to the JLO Channel 3 is for super-regional coms (Reichsjägerwelle) Channel 4 is for ATC and around-the-airfield coms (Nahflugsicherung) Note: There is conflicting info about the use of Channel 3 and 4 as some sources suggest they were the other way round (3 for ATC, 4 for Reichsjäger)
