  4. Airframe is the same ...and it is a big factor in the aoa arena. I stand by my claim :) Edit: might be slightly better on a blue angel jet but not by much (10% ish)

  6. Also a good tip, really train this stuff, we have loads of aids and don't use them . There is a lot of them and some have a steep learning curve. To give you an idea ..I can no longer be ace in different systems, by ace I mean within my own comfort level. So knew ka-50 fairly well, A-10 pretty well, p-51 never got it, Spitfire....I can fight ok well, F-18 pretty up to speed with 60% of it ...I can land, carrier land, Air refuel, fight with the current limitations of not being a complete model, F-5 can fly it to my liking ....landing ..hmm had to learn on speed from the hornet to tame that , I never got the concept of "on speed". After the hornet I use it for the F-5 and can now land ok . But the thing is, for me, I can not be good at ka-50 and lets say f-18 at the same time. Flying Wise yeah pretty ok on all platforms, concept of speed heading decent climb is ok. being a bad ass combat killer ...not so much :)
  7. Hmmm get a track or make a video ...could be many things. Unsafe bet is that you are fast and early, meaning hitting the hook before 1 wire and bouncing over all the rest of the wires .
  8. Just prior to touchdown, you have low aoa. Seems to me you are fighting aoa all the way. I try to square aoa in the last part of the downwind and final small trim in the last turn. Then "all" I have to concentrate on is altitude and the 30 degree bank. But I trap 2 or 4 mostly, I struggle with when to turn for the last 90. But review the tracks and slowmo it :). U might see that you are very close or just unlucky. But you live up to your callsign: Jar Jar best 4 wire by far ;) Good videos Mate :)
  9. I used the standard jtac(humvee. works for me. First error I made ...waypoint height 20000 feet ..dooh ;) waypoint is close to target (+/- 300 meters ) did the jtac chit chat and release on waypoint. Bomb starts to track at around 12000 feet. Bomb landed just behind target like 2 meters and target is dead. The real way is of course, making the waypoint from the jtac instructions. I'm just too lazy, but I'll give it a go one day :)
  10. Some of it might be classified. If you watch some blue angels video's, they are really talky during the high alfa. The drag is a unknown for me.

  12. From Wags video, it looks like he has a waypoint on target and the lgb catches the laser. So automode needs a waypoint or you need to make targetpoint yourself. So some of the information jtac gives you, will make you able to makes a targetpoint. For me jtac needs some work for the hornet to be effective. Human jtac maybe the way to go.
  13. Post a track. Hitting 1 wire is a different matter than ship size :)
  14. Also it is not forbidden to fly the pattern at a set altitude for practice :) rewatch your tracks and You will easily see what you missed :)
  15. Old f-16 guy here in bms and before 1. F-18 is growing on me even in WIP mode. 2. Ariel refuel nice bird to connect with (once you learn the power and flight qerks" but not a problem for me. perfect every time no but that is more the jet than me ..love it 3. Carrier traps ...not perfect yet and again not the jet. A Lot to learn but as of now last 90 turn is a thing for me ...i'll nail it but still working on it. 3. Flight in general ...hmm A lot of audio cues to help you but yes hard to master 4. landing on ground hehehe one should think it was a piece of cake ...hmm gimme the boat any day ..weird yes but that is how I feel :) 5. air to ground ...a lot to learn still in this platform ...I need to get netter and faster 6. air to air ...need better tactics and work a lot faster holy hell ;) 7. platform in general ....very forgiving jet to a newbie at the current state, she flies where you point it and is very responsive in most areas, We are getting there and as with all platforms ..learn it, perfect never cause classified stuff but we can still have fun and do very cool shit. I for one is getting more comfortable every day I fly this bird, and for a mission example, Taxi to the cat is one thing , launch , fly a lot and then take gas and go kill stuff , fly a lot , take gas again and trap the boat .....you are now a friigin king man :) Oh yeah i forgot u land at night ..just to piss you off ;) Welcome to f-18 hornet in dcs.
  16. dcs_updater.exe update The last "update" part is the thing that forces it to check again. running the exe on its own does not force a update if u missed it :)

  18. Also identify your problem, stop the sim and deal with it. Currently for my case, is spotting targets on ground with mark one eyeball and being able to yank and bank and still have an idea where the target is. No harm in using all the tools for training on these things :) Case 1 recovery is a great example of a lot that has to be done in a very short time. Try and break it up. Real pilots learn in sections as well :)
  19. A bug ? great ..to be fixed at some point I hope. Not a bug but a math/science thing ? Great, now we know what happens, if you treat the jet wrongly...ok don't treat it wrongly. :)

  22. Trackir is something you get used to and need to setup probber. Like a steering wheel with forcefeedback, it tries to mimic the hole thing trough a wheel, very far away from what a real car feels like, but learnable :)
