  1. Are you sure setting a Curve on your Zoom View Slider did not help? - I came across this a while back on a YouTube Video and Reddit post For each Plane I own, I was able to closely match up my Center Default Zoom Slider with the Default Cockpit View. -Maybe this post below can better explain it.
  2. Re The X55/X56 SLIDER - I just can't stop tweaking and trying new things. When I first got my X56 I used the "famous" Laobi" video and the Logitech Software to program the slider switch for airbrake functions. A few months ago I came across this MOD in the User Files Downloads link posted by Shiroka called: X56 Speed Brake Slider - FA18, F16, A10C, F14, JF17, AV8B If you like tweaking and installing MOD's this may be something to try - In Summary this MOD creates New 2 Position Slider Switch Key bindings for the listed Jets so you don't have to use the Logitech software profiles for the Speed Brake. It is just another way to solve a problem and a potential opportunity to learn about Input LUA files in DCS. Using the X56 Speed Brake Slider mod as a reference I was able to create my own updates (with comments in the LUA) for the other jets I have. See attachments for reference Cheers. 3. @constGreat timing. I wish I said something earlier. Good luck with the rest of the backend updates. I am starting to enjoy the new forum more, especially now that the OLD topic links are redirecting to the new. Cheers!
  4. Because of the recent GTM: Normandy Textures I started "rediscovering" the Warbirds. So thanks again! . . . . . . . . . . . Winter is Coming? Cheers.
  5. Is there any way to map an old URL link that references the now legacy forum but now comes up as "The page you requested does not exist"? There have been many times I am reading through a thread or forum post and a reply references another potential useful forum post with a link that now does not exist. I can understand if there is still some cleanup happening that will repair this or will there be a way to manually cross-reference a legacy link to the new forum? Examples: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137670&page=66 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=199177&highlight=x52+pro&page=3 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=267529&highlight=dcs+ufc&page=26
  6. @imacken - This is an interesting post. I think I learned a lot in researching and looking at the link provided by firmek on October 24th. Since DCS is so versatile and complicated - there are probably a few ways to solve the Default View vs Center Zoom not matching problem. I was able to get FOV within 0.2 degrees of my Center Zoom Slider by doing this: (Credit goes to a post on REDDIT and a YouTube Video I can't find anymore) - See Attached file for reference Setting a Curve on your Zoom View Start your Module up Press "NumEnter" and "Num5" (brings up your DEFAULTs for Zoom Normal View + Center View) Press "Ctrl" + "Pause Brake" two times - to bring up you Detailed Metrics that include FPS: and Scene: FOV (Optional) Adjust your Controls for Zoom View and use the AXIS TUNE Panel button. Check the Slider option and set a Curvature (you can invert or not depending on your preference of zoom direction) Once you set a curve press OK and test Add or remove curvature as required until your default FOV and Zoom View center match or are within 0.2
  7. 100% Agree I started flying Warbirds again and did not notice how distracting the shutter effect was until I tried the VR Friendly Prop Mods from Mnemonic. The shutter effect has it's place in the production of Cinematic movies and screen shots. I recently realized that the excellent VR Friendly Prop Mod for P-51 and P-47 have missing texture problems in Open Beta. I will admit that for me the P-51 Default Prop is actually much better compared to the Spitfire and P-47. Oh well - First World problems I guess.. Fly Safe!
  8. I just bought the Spitfire during the last sale and am using this VR Friendly Prop Mod by Mnemonic on the Spitfire. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3310397/ I have not spent much time with the MOD or the plane but so far so good. Unfortunately Mnemonic has VR Friendly Prop Mods for the P-51 and P-47 but they are currently experiencing some minor missing textures in the latest Open Beta. Fortunately the Default P-51 Prop is acceptable.
  9. Situation: The F/18C Guantlet mission in QuickStart called The Guantlet is overriding custom SnapViews and Zoom settings. While minor this little bug may cause confusion or frustration to a new user learning to set up their own custom views for the first time Recommendation: Remove the Config\View folder that is currently located in the file Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Missions\QuickStart\IA-FA-18C-Syria-Gauntlet.miz Let me know if you have any questions.
  10. (Moderators - I intended to post this under Bugs and Problems but failed) Situation: The F-86 Caucasus mission in QuickStart called Takeoff is overriding custom SnapViews and Zoom settings. While minor this little bug may cause confusion or frustration to a new user learning to set up their own custom views for the first time Recommendation: Remove the Config\View folder that is currently located in the file \Mods\aircraft\F-86\Missions\QuickStart\F-86F Takeoff.miz Let me know if you have any questions.
  11. @firmekYesterday I started using the two modified files for: Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck Very interesting history starting back on page 1, nine years ago by PeterP and now "adopted" by @firmek Thank you! - I am having a lot of fun exploring how these configuration changes help my view in the modules I own. Are there any CONS to using the latest Server.lua and SnapViews.lua that you most recently posted on October 26th?
  12. MUSTANG - is FAST! LoL.. Removing the firevehicle.lua is cleanest way indeed. I am lazy - I Install Better Smoke last and let it overwrite the firevehicle.lua from this most excellent Adjusted Shadders Mod.
  13. These F-5E Tutorials and their "Flow" concept are a nice change of pace. I copied the included kneeboards and added them to my collection. - Getting used to latest forum updates and how it handles or does not handle YouTube links: First Link ( I went to YouTube searched on the cryptic youtube text "JibCd3fpc2U" - found the Video then did a "Share" and copy then paste of the new link here: Link #1 Link #2
  14. I was able to upload my Default vs Enhanced Spitfire Cockpit screenshots. The Reticle and the extra visibility of the dials are fantastic. The Mnemonic Propeller Mod is very nice even for us non-VR Users. Now that I have seen the difference, I can not "unsee" the overdone propeller effect on the other DCS Warbirds.. lol.. Downloading the rest of the prop mods now. Cheers
  15. I bought the MiG-19 because of how the updated cockpit looked. I bought the amazing C-101 because of how it flew and for the fantastic updated cockpit! After seeing the screenshots from this post, I have ZERO excuses - this is an easy buy, especially since the same team who did the C-101 flight-model and cockpit textures are working on the Mirage F1. Don't worry about adding NS430 - LoL! Good luck over the next several months with this worthwhile project!
  16. Looks like a small typo in the path instructions of the link and in the readme file: Files should be placed in /Mods/Terrains/Normandy/vfstextures Author pressed "x" instead of "s"? It is sad that the Splatmap textures can't change, it does stand out when flying along the shoreline. Perhaps Urga Media can do a little hotfix magic and correct it.
  17. Same here: It would be nice to see collaboration or merging of the two. - I am spoiled.. Happy with whatever is provided.. Thanks to all who keep creating these amazing updated textures l... Cheers.
  18. I feel spoiled with all these great texture updates to the maps! I am happy, just as long as Normany winter arrives by December 25th! LoL.
  19. That is a Great Idea! Thank you so very much @pet333r I have added a few more tablets to my config ( because I could and I wanted to see how many I could add - LoL ). # libs $libList = @( # 'Tools.lua' # Commented out to avoid being replaced during updates # # 'utf8.lua' )
  20. Thank you for the informative update. The WIP sneak-peek shots are exciting indeed!
  21. @pet333r It is nice to see the update_pw-dev_script.bat working without error - I was always updating manually and just got used to it. I believe the current "working" update_pw-dev_script.bat also replaces the lib\Tools.lua file (at least it did replace my Tools.lua when I ran the script yesterday. ) As a habit, I keep a Config copy.lua and Tools.lua and do a Notepad++ compare after each update to make sure nothing new was added to your "default" Config.lua and Tools.lua files. Cheers.
  22. Here is another one of the many options you probably have: @ StevanJ If your friend does not have an account yet - Why not create a NEW ACCOUNT for them? (This would be a pain in the butt if you have more than 2 friends. LoL) You can Register for another DCS account using a new or spare e-mail address that you already own. Purchase and activate the F/A-18 or gift it if you want to see how that works. Give your friend a card or a book about the F/A-18 and include the Eagle Dynamics User ID and Password you created for him. Your new best friend can change the registration e-mail and password to his own once he accepts the gift.
  23. I hope it is an actual 2 weeks and not a "DCS 2 weeks"... I hope you can turn this negative into a positive.. good luck.
  24. @Grajo, I just purchased the Spitfire and wanted to see if this Cockpit MOD still worked... Mod looked OK to Me! - Thanks DEFAULT: ENHANCED:
  25. Same Here, hahaha. For a sarcastic second, I thought something else more sinister. I hope it was really related to more useful and helpful changes coming to the Forum.
