Maybe post a screenshot of your DCS Updater Launcher GUI Utility Home screen. It shows your current Build and Slots plus the the Directories used. It also indicates if Multi-Threading is ON. Maybe you only have reshaded installed in the DCS World\bin folder? For example if you are using Multi-Threading Reshade should also be installed in bin-mt.

l love the F-86 but am tired of the outdated cockpit textures. When the G.91 comes out it will be my "replacement" for the F-86..

@GEIST: Have you tried Bartheks Caucasus Redone 2022 v2 and Batter Trees for Caucasus V6 by Taz1004? Both Mods could be implemented by @Eagle Dynamics some day. ED has many priorities at the moment also would have their internal reasons for not updating Caucasus at this time.

I did a 5 minute "Hack" on the Kola map to make it "Winter".. Slightly surprised with how different 3 higher gamma settings for surface, objects and trees made the map look. Happy to wait for the professional artists at Orbx to do their real texture magic in June. The file I changed was Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\Kola\shadingOptions.lua (See reference below for my values. You can change them to anything) I also used a Color Grading of Blue Tint in the DCS OPTIONS >> SYSTEM Menu to give a colder look. surface = { ['gamma'] = 6; -- 1.0080000162125 }; objects = { ['gamma'] = 4; -- 1 }; trees = { ['gamma'] = 8; -- 0.95200002193451 };

Like others have helpfully mentioned in other posts, lowering Forest Detail Factor helps keep the FPS respectable. I don't even notice a big difference even as low as 0.55. Looks like South Atlantic and Kola share some similar "DNA" so Lowering Forest Detail Factor also helps with the SA Map. I have to give credit to EA for providing that slider a few months ago.

DCS F-4E Phantom II Release Date Announcement- May 21st 2024
YSIAD_RIP replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Great Trailer indeed. It really creates a positive mood.. I may buy Kola now... lol Thanks @IronMike -
@Raz_Specter must be rewarding to be able to take the thousands of hours of what you have learned on your free time with the South Atlantic Map and be able to apply it on Kola! Looking forward to your first Kola map update and of course hoping that anything new you learn from creating Kola can eventually be applied to South Atlantic, when business conditions allow. Good Luck Specter and Orbix..

I am hoping the next Patch will have the Sinai update that is long overdue. I decided to hold of on a purchase of Kola map until Sinai gets some improvements. -Edit - I bought the Kola Map 2 days ago. Maybe it was my birthday. lol.. Thanks to all the DCS YouTube reviews (some of them very honest!) I know what I am getting myself into. This is my Hobby and I want to see DCS and any new 3rd party developers like OnReTech move forward in a positive and profitable way.

FC2024 | Kola Development Progress | Virtual Carrier Wing 17
YSIAD_RIP replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
For me the map has gotten better during it's current life of updates. In the initial early access, some of the ground textures and patterns were very distracting. Of course they are better now. The performance of the map has improved but is not as good as some of the other maps like Syria and even Sinai. I just hope that when Razbam and ED resolve their business disagreements we can get some exciting updates for SA again. Cheers. -

Thanks to all for the over 9 pages of comments above. My gut feeling is that I will not be disappointed with my Kola Map purchase. My South Atlantic purchase left me a little unhappy but I wanted to support Razbam as a new map developer and the technology being adopted. Same logic goes for Orbx plus I know they have years of experience. Good luck to Orbx on Friday! -

Kola looking like a very interesting map. Looking forward to the usual parade of DCS YouTubers flying around in the map.. -
I am a bit of an "Speed-Brake snob" and prefer the switch used on the E compared to the EX Grip. RedKite WinWing F-15E and EX TwinShock Review

F-4E Phantom II Development Update and Release Delay Announcement
YSIAD_RIP replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
The wait will be worth it. -
@OnReTech the screenshots all look very cool. It feels like a new map!

100% I had the same clunking for a few months and tightening up the two screws on the extension did the trick for me too. I guess the stick needs a safety inspection and correction every 100 hours of flight.. lol If it gets loose again .. try adding a lock washer and or a dab of Blue Loctite or equivalent medium strength thread locker.
-
It is still glorious. Cheers.

If you have the extension it is worth at least trying the setup with double cams and springs. That is my current setup today. I usually change things up every few months just because I can.

I agree with the needed cockpit enhancements. Until ED developers get around to doing it there is always the exceptional modding community. Check out the User Files Download on the DCS Website for the latest Anton updates that look give a "refresh" to the the cockpit. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/type-is-mod/unit-is-fw_190_a-8/apply/

@NineLine I also feel that a cleaner glass option should be selectable in a Special Options Menu for the planes or in Gameplay settings if possible. The nicest MOD I have seen is listed below. Works very nice on everything I tested like the P-51 and Spitfire. It does not pass IC but it is what I use when I want better visibility. It still works when used on the latest Patch.

ED made some nice changes in the latest patch but all of the files that TAZ's updates fixes are still as big as ever in the latest DCS Build. In my case running an AMD RX6800: Noticed for some unknown reason that I actually lost FPS installing the full assortment of DCS Optimized Textures Mod Core, Livers and Cockpit Textures. About 7 FPS less in Caucasus and 4 FPS less in Syria. I can't explain it but just to make sure I download all the MOD files again and install each part one at a time and can confirm that performance stays the same. - FIRST World Problem solved for sure! For those with 8 GB or 10 GB of VRAM on their GPU's they may still want to confirm VRAM usage since mileage can vary greatly with cards and setups.
-
I had the same feeling. I have no doubt an update is coming. I guess when we do get an update to Sinai it is going to very substantial.
-
Regarding todays Patch: I am also seeing a 6 to 8 FPS increase! I assume it is directly related to the first update in the Changelog. @BIGNEWY would it be possible to provide more information or some context as to how or what was technically done? Glorious update. Terrain scenery performance: optimized instancing and improved and optimized streaming.

Very happy I found this mod in the Forum. It is a very good quality of life addition to the Mirage F1. I am surprised that this MOD is not listed in the DCS User files Downloads. A+ Excellent MOD.. Thanks @MYSE1234
