DCS MiG-17 Interview on Enigma - Know What to Expect
YSIAD_RIP replied to LucShep's topic in DCS: MiG-17F
I am looking forward to comparing the quality of the MiG-17 Cockpit to the MiG-19 when it comes out... Maybe the MiG-15 will be refreshed by then. FYI: There is an interesting Russian Grey Cockpit Mod for the MiG_19 by Frost in the user files. I was also able to install the MOD in Saved Games. Just look at the User Files Comments for instructions - there are only 2. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3320397/ -
reported The grass is too high on Caucasus map.
YSIAD_RIP replied to 59th_Reaper's topic in General Bugs
Bump. Looking for the Shorter Grass Setting. My theory of grass being half the current height could increase performance at a low level because there would be fewer polygons to draw. -
Bump. Would love to know if there is a setting that makes the grass shorter.

Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill
YSIAD_RIP replied to currenthill's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Try with another Browser? I was able to get to USA and UK Mods.. -
The Razbam SA map is off to a slow early access start. I am thankful we have so many other high-quality new maps to keep us busy while Razbam eventually fixes the performance bugs. From the history of Razbam's early access Modules, I know the SA Map will be very good eventually. Good luck to the Razbam Terrain Team and @Raz_Specter

DCS MiG-17 Interview on Enigma - Know What to Expect
YSIAD_RIP replied to LucShep's topic in DCS: MiG-17F
Same here love the MiG-19P cockpit.. if the MiG-17 cockpit is at least as good as the MiG-19 it will be hard to ignore the New module. The MiG-17 Interview got me testing and tweaking the MiG-19 after 2 years and I was laughing because I never went into the Special Options Menu and selected Dismount cockpit Camera System. I like the cleaner view outside. Cheers -
Axis Tuning: Highly depends on the flight stick you are using and if you have an extension. I currently use a curve of +15 with my Winwing Orion2 F-16EX grip. A curve of +20 is good for getting used to the MiG-19 or practicing tight formation flying since you can reduce flight-induced oscillations. Cockpit Flashlight: Works for me LAlt-L or I can Bind it to my HOTAS SPECIAL OPTIONS: If you have not already done so already try selecting the Dismount Cockpit Camera System to get a slightly better view from the Cockpit Cheers.

It is a great Mod. Hopefully, it is a simple fix. I tried looking in the DCS.log to see if there was any obvious file that could simply be deleted or replaced. I guess I missed it, could not see anything. I did not think you could make Syria better. Thanks @Barthek Good luck on the patch if you get time.

[MiG-15bis MOD] Full English Cockpit Texture
YSIAD_RIP replied to uboats's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Excellent in 2023 Technically you can get this Mod to work in the latest DCS 2.8.7 if you do the following: Copy the 14 Texture Files from this Download into the Original MIG-15BIS-CPT-TEXTURES.zip file and overwrite the originals Make sure you select the DEFAULT Cockpit in the Special Menu for the MiG-15bis I made my own "updated" MIG-15BIS-CPT-TEXTURES.zip with the files from this Mod and used Open Mod Manager. If you don't use a Mod Manager make a backup of the original zip file. Cheers -
Hi @Jamie_GYou experience is expected. By your description, it appears that you have 2S cams and probably heavier springs installed. In Summary: The "1S" cams will require the same force to move the stick in any direction no matter how far you push/pull. The "2S" cams will require greater force the closer you get to the extremities of the base's range of motion. There is no right or wrong feeling here. It all comes down to what you like. Also, note that most "normal and efficient" flying does not involve moving the flight stick to the maximum range.. again this is your flight simulation game and you can fly your planes any way you want to. All is good as long as you are having FUN!! : ) You can check out this Reddit Link for more details:

Satiek combat pedals, toe brake take apart?
YSIAD_RIP replied to Vlerkies's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
@HiWayMy Saitek Combat Rudder Pedal is over 8 years old, toe brakes still working, but the rudder pot probably needs cleaning or an upgrade to the Hall sensor in the future. By the looks of your previous post, you used part of the original Pot a neodymium magnet, and the Honeywell ss485A hall effect sensor to fix the problem. Good work sir. -
My Version 2.0.0.35 Update: Thanks, @SkateZilla, After Upgrading to 2.0.0.35 I got the Utility to pick up the Saved Game Paths again but I had to do two things to make my Stable Version of DCS in SLOT #2 work. The dcs_variant.txt was missing and had to be recreated. The utility would not work using the default stable Saved Games Path of \DCS. However, it worked perfectly when I changed the Folder Name to \DCS.stable Suggestion: Could you also Include a Launch External Apps w/Sim Slider in the App Settings Menu? Not a big deal because it takes less than a minute to figure out what needs to be done once you understand the Menu Layouts and meanings. Fantastic Update - Regards.

Hi, @kontiukaWhen using the "M" Keybind I did notice a 10 to 15 FPS drop in my testing with toggling mirrors in the F1 and most other Modules. What is your current setting for the Res. of Cockpit Displays? Check in your DCS Options >> Under SYSTEM. Mine is 1024. Maybe if you are at a lower setting like 512 or 256 your Mirrors have much less of a performance impact and you don't notice? Cheers.

I did a quick comparison and I noticed that the Better Trees for Syria v2 has larger zip files compared to the DCS Defaults. Also, it looks like PineItalian1.min.zip and PineItalian.zip have been removed in the new DCS Defaults.

@SkateZilla I was also having the same SG Path: Not Configured problem as @Sile. My Log File is attached below. I have since reverted back to the V2.0.0.33 build and SG Path: is showing up again. FYI #1 : I have 3 Builds of DCS and I thought it was interesting that the SG Path did get picked up for the DCS Legacy 1.5 Branch using the Latest v.2.0.0.34 FYI#2: My Windows Saved Games Folder has always been on my G: Drive - I Moved it using the built in Windows Properties Location Move... funciton. While checking the DCSUpdater Utility logs I noticed that DCSUpdate Utility Folder with the Bakup folder and Logs was not in G:\Saved Games. Instead it is in Windows Default Location of C:\Users\JOHNF\Saved Games\DCS Updater Utility My DCS Saved games Paths are: SLOT #1 Primary 2.8 Beta G:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta SLOT #2 TEST 2.x Stable G:\Saved Games\DCS SLOT #3 Legacy 1.5 G:\Saved Games\DCS.1_5 Love the Utility - Hope this info helps.. - First World Problem for me.. cheers! Great quality of life improvements with today's Open Beta Patch! Glad I Purchased the F1 on Day 1. Cockpit mirrors now can be toggled On/Off by 'Toggle Mirrors' key. Fixed left mirror, it doesn't freeze anymore at certain view angles.
-
BUMP 2. I am sure the Developer will eventually fix the Left Mirror Stutter while using VR/Head Tracking. @Vibora, I am more curious as to what is causing the problem in the first place. It is not like it is a new feature in DCS. The Aviojet C-101 you helped create has working mirrors. Just strange that the bug still exists months after the release of the F1. But being in Early Access makes this more of a development and programming question. The Mirage F1 is a beautiful module.

Community A-4E-C v2.3 (May 2025)
YSIAD_RIP replied to plusnine's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Thats great @Aussie Pilot glad you noticed. I had my seat bound to the camera view bindings but the actual seat adjustment is much nicer. Looking back at the Version 2.1.0 30 Oct 2022 A4 update it seems like Seat Adjustment Switch was added then along with dozens of other changes and improvements. Cheers -
I started "DCS" with LOMAC and Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2 in the early 2000s. Still getting a kick out of how different and sometimes similar DCS full fidelity vs FC3 planes feel. I would pay $10 for an updated/refreshed FC3 with the graphics and instruments. Updating FC3 is not a priority of ED and I am happy to see ED focus on Core Game Fixes and Vulcan API, DLSS, and FSR. That said if there was a developer that wanted to make some FC3-style planes it would be fun to see what they came up with. Cheers

Saab SK-60 Trainer
YSIAD_RIP replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I just did a test download and install using Google Chrome. I was able to Fly the Free Flight Mission. The DCS-SK60-Mod-1.1.0.zip file is over 2.7 GB. If you Unzip the MOD it is More than 6.3 GB in size! Are you running out of space in your download folder? Using a VPN or extra sensitive Antivirus or Malware active? Does your ISP have some kind of throttling or capping after 2 GB? -
Another option could be to make a Second App for Helicopters and Older Jets / Warbirds.

Springs: I decided to experiment with even heavier springs than what comes with the base, extension, and $50 accessory damper kit for the Orion 2 base. There is a plethora of Springs on AliExpress (an example): 1pcs Open Hook Tension Spring Pullback Spring Coil Extension Spring It all comes down to personal choice and your mounting options... there is no correct answer. I tried: 30mm, 1.4mm, 9mm x2 (Difficult to apply using fishing line and a key ring to pull spring into place, but what I am using now with NC-ARC Cams) 30mm, 1.4mm, 10mm x2 (Not recommended - impossible to install without special tools to pull springs into place)
