After Oculus Quest 2 Update VR is not playable because of flickering
Hoirtel replied to LOW_Hitman's topic in VR Bugs
Ditch the tray tool, ditch the super sampling. Reset all oculus settings to default. Just set highest you can go in oculus software resolution. Trying to run 120hz with supersampling isn't a good idea -
Its not really lost tracking, exactly. I experience exactly what's shown in the video. More resetting randomly. Good for you if it doesn't happen.

Well, I am assuming that the explanation of game/headset co-ordinates earlier in this thread is covering what happens. Now just need to see why it happens.
-
It wouldn't really tell me anything, I need it to be repeatable for II start changing settings. Late yesterday I jumped back into the same slot on the same mission and could not get it to fault no matter how I turned my head. I even tried changing the lighting in the room, it never missed a beat. As with most bugs there is a variable somewhere that is causing it but even if I think I am doing the same thing there is always likely going to be something thing different and that particular mix of variables is what is causing it. My own personal feeling is that it is the way in which DCS handles a the headset having momentary low/no/confused tracking. I will experiment with room light conditions but even this I am not fully in control of!

I think that still classes as a bug! I'm not experiencing poor performance in these situations so if the is the case it's really split second. I'm not denying that could be what's happening but reducing "some settings" isn't an answer that I can work with really. It is also happening for others but cropping up on other threads. I found a link to this one.

This is happening to me in quest 2. Started with 2.8 sometimes not too bad, sometimes terrible. I will try and get a track. Hope there is an easy solution as this is really difficult to use.
-
So for some reason this problem was really really bad yesterday. Same mission, same slot..I had resaved it with different weather. Lots of "corrections" looking at various different angles. Also seemed to be trying to recorrect itself. Not sure why it suddenly got so bad, it also seemed to reduce after running mission. Many issues get posted as unplayable and mostly they are fine. Yesterday was the first time I really wasn't sure I could carry on. I will try and get a track but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Please unmark this as solved, because I don't believe it is.

Clearing Oculus guardian didn't change anything. Issue is still present but definitely linked to down and right head position but not ever single time. I will add some checkerboard to this spot in my Simplot as I am sure it's DCS's response to tracking loss rather than a random event.
-
I'm going to try clearing the guardian as I have still experienced the problem. Mine doesn't seem to be as bad as others since I made sure I had good light and clean sensors. It does seem to happen when I look extreme right and down. I turn back to center and I'm in a different place. This is the spot in my simpit which should give the worst tracking. Didn't happen before 2.8 though.
-
I think this has happened to me recently, doesn't exactly match up with any specific movement or control so isn't repeatable. I felt like recently it is more sensitive to poor room light conditions. I also noticed that the internal sensor needed a bit of a clean. Done those and so far so good, but it's a case of waiting really.

I'm thinking the same. Decided not to plunge for the aero in its black Friday sale, doesn't help that I don't have trackers either. I actually like the fact the crystal isn't super wide. Not sure how much I would like an 8kx size headset, although this is still big. Slightly worried about this lens problem. I wonder if pimax aren't trying to cheat the sharpness by adding a bit of extra magnification in there or something. I guess we will see. It's not something I will feel confident to buy on day one.

AH-64D how to play with a friend without « port forwarding »
Hoirtel replied to Flanky83's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Its pretty easy actually, and all done in your home router. I am not convinced my ISP would provide much correct information over the phone. I suppose there may be some examples of where this is not possible, so a public server will be your choice. -
Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев
Hoirtel replied to Supmua's topic in Virtual Reality
Just visiting this thread as Varjo is discounted as of today. My question is still how well it works for DCS these days and it seems that it's still a bit difficult. It's 300e off but I still have to buy base stations. Do you need two for it? -
EXPERIMENTAL: Resizable BAR in DCS for NVIDIA RTX 30 Series GPUs
Hoirtel replied to ShaunX's topic in Virtual Reality
Hmm. Does this mean an unlocking of this as a feature? The previous options were always there but stopped making a difference with a single drive update. -

Totally agree. I would happily have one less YT vid of Normandy 2 to get the kneeboard folder instead. Time is clearly that stretched for @MAESTR0 I really want to not buy the new map... But it will be 10 dollars so I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't. -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
Hoirtel replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
Take the time to read the thread. Its all here. -
You can do this with voice attack. It will let you do multiple key presses based on a trigger of your choice. Software is designed to do this using voice as trigger, but it can easily be any other key press from any device. Maybe not great if you don't use VA, already but once you adding in voice calling for game controls (menus, rearming, pausing, ready pre contact) it's hard to go back. I have a single command that does multiple F-menu key presses, taking me from nothing directly into a sub menu.

Well from what I understand four dimms makes everything harder for the memory controller, this applies to DDR4 and DDR5 but it's not a problem for DDR4 until you get into high over locking. I didn't think that DDR5 had really got to the stage where you can use overclocked kits with four sticks. But if you have tried two then it must be ok. To He other thing I have heard is that some games don't work well with the infinity fabric, but this would be the same for 7950 and I think they have been tested in DCS already. Other things to try would be running DCS without any peripherals attached. Not how you can fly but might just be the thing you haven't tried.

Umm. Well yes totally happy to be patient for a decent solution, but the current state of kneeboards is a complete workaround so a tiny bit of help to make it work the same as all the others is what we are after. Just with this one map! the South Atlantic map had this folder on day one and that's newer? I can't see what's different about the development of the Syria map. Just never bothered really. Maybe I'll look into it. I don't really use many mods and usually delete anything I don't use. Guess I am so used to using shortcuts it just came naturally. I don't really have too much issue with doing it this way as long as the folders work! -

Hoirtel replied to 303_Vins's topic in DCS: Syria Map
Nothing special really, in my documents files I have a DCS folder where I store all my DCS related files. In there I have created folder shortcuts to each of the kneeboard folders within the core game terrain files. Just allows me to quick access to them without having to work through the core files every time. I often add to these as I can't be bothered to extract a miz file and add them into a specific mission, that's another part of the kneeboard rant! I also like to delete the default airfield charts that I never use (where these exist). These get replaced on repair or patch. I use shortcuts all the time. My day job would be excruciating without them! You could put them on desktop or quick access too - totally personal preference. One tip, though is rename them to include the terrain name as they all default to just "Kneeboard - Shortcut" I also have all the aircraft saved games ones in the same place. -

Hoirtel replied to 303_Vins's topic in DCS: Syria Map
I have to say I think this would be really helpful. It doesn't excuse Urga's terrible interest in adding this, but I have to have a whole list of shortcuts to be able to manage the kneeboards. As there is no support inside the software it is basically a minor game modification and one that has to be done in the core files at that. The big difference is that slow repairs wouldn't ask me if I wanted to remove all these alien files it finds. Kneeboard still is the massive hole in DCS imo. It surprises me all the time that we have so much attention to detail in some areas yet this is totally ignored. How many real combat flights are flown without taking documentation. None! I also understand that there might be a full solution in the pipeline but ED needs to learn to implement quick interim functionality to plug these holes. -
Is that correct that your new rig has 4x dimms of DDR5? I didn't think that was a thing yet. I know the boards have four slot but I haven't yet seen a four dimm kit or heard anyone using four ddr5 dimms... Could be mistaken. However I would expect the machine to not even post.. might explain your xmp not working?

Pretty sure voice attack will do this. Not using voice either although you could set it do eject on command....
