fixed [REPORTED]Rain drops in vr not visible like non vr
Hoirtel replied to _schepper_'s topic in VR Bugs
Is happening to me too, but this was the same in 2.7. I can do big overcast clouds, but any rain kills FPS. Water drops on or off. -
I think our harrier is pretty good, but the internal cockpit sound are missing the addition of the buzzing noise. You can hear this in the DC designs and in the Irl video posted above.

Looking really good, amazing detail! @MAESTR0 will the map kneeboard folder be available at release? This is a real quality of life thing to include so please do if you can. Syria is the only map without it at the moment.

AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
Hoirtel replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
I'm in very similar position and have thought the same options as you. However I think the 13900 is a bad choice, seems this part is excessive heat and power 13700 will be the one to have. My choice is leaning towards number 3 although I probably will completely wait until X3D and just get that. I also don't think the X3D will be a 7950. Makes no sense really, a gaming part does not need all those cores, even for multi threaded games far better to be on a 7800 -

I think the 13700 will be a good choice, seems the 13900 is just load of power and heat. I was waiting on these release to decide on new system. Now I feel like I want to wait until AM5 X3D, trouble is there will always be something to wait for! My current PC is still fine for everything else, so it will be a DCS dedicated machine. -
New Intel 13k series CPUs. Worth the wait?
Hoirtel replied to tomcat_driver's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't think that's actually a big issue, pretty much all CPU's have many cores now and I would expect a multi threaded DCS will still benefit from the same single thread performance it does now but using more than one core. I don't expect that it would be comparable to a productivity workload where more cores is king and the individual performance of those cores is less important. Someone correct me if they think otherwise! -
Just coming back to this. On win 10 firewall the rules allow for UDP or TCP, whereas the router will do both. Does it need two rules? or just we just pick one?

EXPERIMENTAL: Resizable BAR in DCS for NVIDIA RTX 30 Series GPUs
Hoirtel replied to ShaunX's topic in Virtual Reality
I think it's more down to Nvidia, when rebar first came out a few of us were manually enabling it in profile inspector and it was helping smooth things out. Then one driver update locked it down, unsure where it's at these days. I think all those conversations will be the history in this thread. -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
Hoirtel replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
There was a leaked roadmap that suggested they were going to keep selling am4 as low tier products for a while. Same leak also said am5 x3d was tba, but running along side. -

What we need is a stable trackfile using only free parts of DCS that tests both GPU and CPU. This can be used by anybody to compare systems. -
Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Hoirtel replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
I think of course it will be a basic uplift but being worth it is down to your system and your budget. I run a 3090 with a 9900ks so I am CPU limited and a 4090 will do little without a new machine (I can still fly the 64 over Syria in VR though..) Nvidia has some major marketing stuff going on there, very difficult to tell what is raw performance over DLSS uplift. Reviews will be everything and of course these will be out for a while so no need to rush! Interesting that the new DLSS sound very similar to what reprojection does in VR, not a consideration for DCS as DLSS won't be supported, but I do wonder if DLSS and reprojection will play nicely together elsewhere. Probably not... I was disappointed that with a dedicated section to the "omniverse" (or ominous-verse) there was no mention of VR enhancements or technologies. -
Its entirely possible that there is a new ATC/radio engine on the way, they have basically said this. Even if vaicom still has a place it would likely need re-writing entirely, so makes any effort to update now not really worth it. I made the move away from vaicom back to just VA a few months ago and I am actually much happier, yes it lacks a bit of the immersion but full customisable control and integration with whatever the severs add to F10 is really nice. Its also good that the rearm menu and ready precontract have their own key binds so I can still use these as I did with VA. I was never one for flying with AI much and VA on its own is easier with SRS in multiplayer.

Enigma's Dynamic Cold War Campaign PVP/PVE Server

Does it? Ah yes I must have forgotten that bit. Don't think anyone does that, and not all the runways are the same width... -
Enigma's Dynamic Cold War Campaign PVP/PVE Server

Fantastic server, really good fun. I would like to make a couple of suggestions. 1. Can you add arrows on all the airfield runways to indicate desired direction of use. Might help prevent accidents. 2. Would it be possible to get a few beacons added to Syria for radial navigation. Would be a massive help for navigation (F10 seems a bit cheaty) and would allow players to communicate to each other by X miles along radial XXX, beacon XX. Caucasus has enough tacans around but might need some others. Could be an added challenge...rather than removing weapons, remove the f10 navigation... -

It has before, but it is dependant on how the market is at the time. If there is high demand then don't expect much, if there is new stuff the older stuff might be discounted but then again it may not be all that available. I would have thought you would get some discounts. Learn prices now, so you know what's good and what isn't when it comes round to later on. Winter sales are one thing but new generations will also have their affect. -
Also have you checked the "permit unknown software" in the oculus settings app (its called something like that). Also you havent detailed the steps you see when you start. Should activate the link from the oculus menu, then go into the white matrix room, then launch DCS from the desktop. I have disabled headset sound on mine and it works fine.

Ah yes, good point. That's all I can see too. I will be wondering the same thing when I do.my next one. For what it's worth I think most of the VR issues are fine and I probably would go 11. There is also a sponsor for a UK YT tech channel that is probably a good reseller. Can't remember the company but the channel is red gaming tech. Edit: just checked. It's called whokeys. Never used them yet but that's probably where I would go. Seems like sponsorship works -

You can get these on Amazon, just be sure that it is an OEM key you are buying and not VOLUME. Just read reviews and make sure it's a good seller (ask the question too!) I think they are usually around £15. You used to be able to get really cheap keys for around £3 quid on eBay (Volume keys), these are actually a bit grey but I've done it before and never had any problems. -

Argeed easier now, more bulky power wires and a desire to hide them is probably the hardest thing. That's not technical either, more a test of flair and patience! But it will still work even if it's messy. -
Occasional massive FPS drop on Enigma Cold War Server
Hoirtel replied to Picure's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Probably when the bombers do the large drops. Game simulation goes way up and sinks FPS. Not really avoidable. Try doing a bomber escort and you will see the timing works out. -

Ti has the better power delivery components. The plain one has had issues although evga are probably one of the better ones.
