IIRC, the story is written in the book "F-15c Eagle vs MiG-23/25: Iraq 1991 (Duel)" by Doug Dildy, where the iraqi MiG-25 pilot described the case. The Hornet was in a large strike package and wasn't warned by AWACS. I don't remember, if there was any word about system failures. Interesting is, that the remains of the pilot were found in the next war against Iraq in 2003, somewhere in the desert.

In rather recommend "Wild Weasel Fighter Attack" by Thomas Withington and "F-105 Wild Weasel vs SA-2 guideline" (Osprey). Less stories, more strategic and analytic approaches. In some weeks, there will be another new book about this topic: "Magnum!".

Training: Ja, aber nicht mit der Mission. Ein begrenzter Überraschungseffekt soll ja zum eigentlichen Termin vorhanden sein. Servertest: Ja, evtl. mit einer abgewandelten Version der Mission. Grund: siehe oben Get Together: Klingt gut. Gerne mit beiden Teams (rot/blau)

+1 Or you have to stay higher and can bomb your targets with less accuracy. With the DLC Combined Arms, you also can direct control these SAM units. You can set the engagement range to only 75% or 50% of its max. range, which makes it more difficult for the defending aircraft to escape (less time to react, counter-act, use lead-pursuit tactics as described by you). Or you set your own Radar to off, while monitoring the airspace with an early warning radar, which is placed some 50 miles behind your SAM units. You can also use triggers, with which SAM units set their radar to on and engage, only if your opponent in a well placed trigger zone.

Hallo zusammen, wir haben nun eine Mission die für die COMAO zu gebrauchen ist. Wir fliegen diese Mission aktuell im internen Training zum Monatsende. Für die COMAO würden dann nur noch die Flights auf rot und blau angepasst und die Briefing Unterlagen erweitert. Wir sind die Mission bereits in DCS 2.1 geflogen, da gab es einige Lags. Sobald die aktuelle Open Alpha wieder flüssiger läuft, nehmen wir hier wieder Fahrt auf. Eindrücke:

688-I Hunter/Killer, good old times. Played it a lot but never had that fun like in Silent Hunter II.

Ok, I found the min/max detection and engagement ranges/altitudes, but not the time for tracking. What I mean is the time after lock, I have to wait until I can shoot a missile.

You enable the Radar screen with right CTRL + F10.

Hi, there is a key binding for the "plan position indicator" (radarscreen view), right ctrl + F10. But I can't map this function tho another button, HOTAS or TM MFD for example. If I want to select the key slot in the control options, it doesn't select the keybox. Bug or missing feature?

Wir testen aktuell eine Mission, die wohl auch für die COMAO geeignet sein wird. Ich hoffe, dass diese nach dem großen 2.1 Update spielbar bleibt. Um die Mission selbst ist ebenfalls schon eine fiktive Story, die dann zur COMAO jedoch nochmal umgeschrieben wird.

Der Harrier von Razbam soll die APKWS auch bekommen. Hier rechne ich offen gesagt eher mit einem (alpha/beta) release. Wurde auch für Ende des jahres angekündigt, AFAIK.
