This is not a vote for one of the both, I want just to clarify it for myself. I read multiple times, that the viper is more capable of doing SEAD, because it has the AN/ASQ-213 HARM pod. I don't have bought the Viper, I just learning the Hornet. And note: I ask for the full finished modules, not the curretn EA access of both. So, what I know about the Hornets capability, when it comes down to SEAD: She can protect herself, while fighting very aggressive, with the SP mode She can pick-up specific radiating emitters with TOO mode. She can engage Surface-to-Air threats with the PB mode, when they'll come online. She can engage Surface-to-Air threats with the SLAM-ER, JSOW or Maverick, when they stay offline (not exactly SEAD but another tactic to reach air-superiority regarding to threats on the ground) So, what can the Viper with its pod, what the Hornet can't do? Or did they upgrade the Hornet we get in DCS to Vipers SEAD capabilities? Thanks

Hi, the password for the DCS Login on my server doens't get saved. Meanwhile, I played several times on this server, but every time, I close it* and start the server via the desktop icon again, the password has to be entered again. The Login is saved, but the password not. Any ideas? *right click on the windows task bar and "end". I don't have to kill it via the task manager. Thanks in advance.

It's a simulation. It's not a Battlefield X title, bro.

requested Option to remove the MMA derotation mount if not carrying FCR

+1 for this option -
Of course other aircrafts as well. I was just new into the Hornet, as I wrote this list. So, apart from the B-2 and KC-10 (which was in LOMAC long time ago), I just wrote down a list for US naval/carrier aircraft. I'm not very into British aircraft. Also not in the French ones. A double seater Mirage would be nice but all those 60s to 80s (in the US inventory, too) are not on my personal list. If you ask for European Ai aircraft, so yes ... would be nice to have the Transall and the A-400M and yes, the Saab did build nice aircraft, as well.

freezing app after starting
VTJS17_Fire replied to VTJS17_Fire's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
If I start the app directly via the DCS.exe, I get these window: After skiping them, I get this: Purchased with this account is the Pserian Gulf map, Nevada and the Normandy 1944 map. After klicking "ok", I get the same freezed white window, like described above. -
Hi, I just installed the DCS server app on a dedicated PC to act as a server. The PC has: - Intel i5-4670K - 250GB SSD - 16GB RAM - 100Mbit/11Mbit internet connection - Windows 10 Pro When I click the DCS World Server icon on my desktop and entered my login date, a white screen appears and the app freezes. Attached a screenshot and the DCS.log. It seems, DCS has any problems with some audio data or drivers in the installation folder. Any ideas how to solve it? @USSR_Rik@Flappie dcs.log

Not in my opinion. There are old, low-poly models, yes. But they are already in DCS. They don't look nice, but you can place them and they fly. How often are you so close, that you can watch them for the details. So, I'm for new models first, togive mission designers more possibilities.

Here, a very fine read about the door openers: https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/desert-storms-opening-shots-came-from-this-daring-helic-1753466057 -
Thanks, will try it.

Not by radio calls but if you fly the F/A-18C, they share SAM stations over der Link16 network via the SA page.

Hi, knows anybody a script to turn off an SAM AIs Search Radar or Tracking Radar randomly, respectively when enemy aircraft are inbound? I know there is an IADS script, but I don't want to build a whole IADS, just for some SAM units.

Ok, two days late but was aware of it on Saturday but with kids ... ... on January 16 1991, after months operating Desert Shield, began Operation Desert Storm. I was interessted in this conflict since my youth, don't know why. There are several good books about the topic, a lot of videos on YouTube. I thought, I post it on the 30th "anniversary" (no to celebrate IMO but let's call it so). If you have any good to add (most interessted in books), feel free. I just updated my amazon wishlist, as well. Ok, let's start with the books. I read them all, but for the mass of books I read, I don't remember on every book/rating/review. Vipers in the Storm - Diary of a Gulf War Fighter Pilot (9/10) Warthog: Flying the A-10 in the Gulf War (8/10) Strike Eagle: Flying the F-15E in the Gulf War (9/10) Shild and Sword: The United States Navy and the Persian Gulf War (IIRC, it was boring to read, many abbreviations, hard to read) Storm over Iraq: Air Power and the Gulf War (very interessting) The Air Campaing: Planning for Combat (also very interessting) Magnum! The Wild Weasels in Desert Storm: The Elimination of Iraq's Air Defence (10/10) Combat Aircraft Special: Gulf War 25th Anniversary Special (9/10) There are lot other books about different aircrafts with some small stories inside about the 2nd Gulf War, but these books are related strict to these conflict. Good overview of Day 1 of operation Desert Storm: And always good to know the other side, respectivly some facts about the Iraqi attack on Kuwait. And of course, some of the best known HUD videotapes of this war out there:

Military and Aviation News Thread (NO DISCUSSION)
VTJS17_Fire replied to topol-m's topic in Military and Aviation
Glad to see, that we have Al Minhad now in DCS. Read the book some 10 years ago, a very good read. And if you don't know it already: -
Are there any departure or approach charts for OMDM? I know, it's an military airbase, but there are also charts for Nellis (for instance), so maybe.
-
I would estimate, that the visual differences of the different seasons are not that clear, as in Europe or another country in a temperate climate zone. My cousin lives in the VEA and every European winter, he sends me photos of his area and it looks like a nice summer day here in Germany. So, at least in the South of the map, we should not get this visual winter, like in the Caucasus map.

Are they not?

Adding Textures, Citys and Airfields to Iraq and Kuwait?
VTJS17_Fire replied to CanopyJettison's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
That's on my wishlist, too. A terrainmesh for the partial Saudi Arabia, Kuweit and little part of Iraq and at least, the military airbases. Or another map, which connects the Persian Gulf and the Syria Map. And then a partial "global" map for theat region.
