Yeah Beta 3. Good to know it's not me, and not my setup :) Should be less crashes as new versions and final release comes out then will be easier to complete a mission.
-
I think CCIP only for GP bombs. And only after clearing AAA/SAMs with Mavs. I will only use CCRP if I choose GBU in the mission planner.

Anyone have the game crash on the mission where you have to rescue the downed F16 pilot? I WAS using accelerate time, but the crashes happen either during or after accelerate time. DCS.exe has stopped responding etc. So far, other missions seem ok. I'm not reporting it as a beta issue though as I have overclocking CPU and Video Card, both stable in all other games.

Video board GTX 480 vs GTX 580
TAIPAN_ replied to Gonzo01's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You only need to buy which planes you like, and you get 8 with the iron cross edition. But having the choice is great. However for multiplayer you do need to buy one 1916 plane for the early war maps, as the boxed version only comes with 1917/1918 planes. You do need about 20 hours stick time to master each plane and to fight competitively, so you certainly won't need all 20! For example the camel you will spin to your death every fight until you have at least 10 hours, then another 20 hours to become good with it. Even though I fly exclusively multiplayer now, I want the career mode as I'll switch to that for a while when it comes out. I just like to get medals and go through the squadron history, promotions, moving of bases etc. I want my login screen covered with medals :megalol: On the GTX 580, rise of flight I have all settings maxed and the FPS stays at 60 (my refresh rate). It never leaves 60, EVER. Black shark and FC2 are at 60 most of the time at 2560x1600. A-10C goes between 20-60 but I'm looking forward to optimised version. -
1.016 is coming with moving clouds, moving cloud shadows, enhanced reflections of earth and sky colour on planes, plus the HP O/400. Checkout the video of the ancient ancestor of our A-10 bomber :)

Video board GTX 480 vs GTX 580
TAIPAN_ replied to Gonzo01's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Rise of Flight is fantastic, but see for yourself if you want a 2 week demo http://www.riseofflight.com/tryrof It occupies the most of my time on the computer, with very competitive PvP online. Much more realistic flying than IL-2, but WW1 does have to be your thing as they are slower planes but much tighter turn circles. They do FEEL faster though because the game engine is better than IL-2 and you have the wind in your face. To compare to Red Baron 3D, if you remember the campaign they are now making a rise of flight dynamic career/campaign mode, supposed to be coming out at the end of the year in a major patch. You are right about the 580, I got it now because I'm impatient :) If you have a 480 there is no point upgrading, I did because I was on GTX 295. There are rumours (not official) about a 3GB version of the 580, because they called this the "1.5GB version". For cooling and overclocking ability, I don't know how they CAN get much better, the advances are great. Mine is overclocked 10% and my temps go between 50 idle and 65 gaming. I do have a coolermaster high airflow case but still it's nice and cool and quiet. For SLI - does DCS really support SLI? I had heard that it gives < 10% performance boost so there is no point? -
Video board GTX 480 vs GTX 580
TAIPAN_ replied to Gonzo01's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
GTX 580 here as well now, upgraded from GTX 295. The frame rate is only a little noticably better. But the smoothness is MUCH better - i.e. minimum frame rate it rarely drops too low. I think the max frame rate where it goes down to 20 at airbases could be limited by CPU or hard disk. I have 4Ghz overclocked i7 though! But I run at 2560x1600. Also using MSI Afterburner I overclocked my gtx 580 an extra 10%, just for that little bit extra ;) I did not touch voltage, and it's stable. -
For those of us who just like a flight simulator!
TAIPAN_ replied to Mizzy's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
If you want a sim that has a great flight model AND many planes, go and download this demo and give it a try: http://riseofflight.com/tryrof/en It still IS a combat sim (ww1), but it is foremost a flight sim about the planes and the flight models. The demo only has 2 planes I think, but the full version has 8. Plus another 12 you can buy later. -

Awesome! -
Jet Thunder Anyone been following this sim of the falklands war? http://www.thunder-works.com/ Aerosoft are going to publish it by end of this year I've heard. Although I think it may only be the Harrier initially, with more planes coming on board over time.

You no longer need Internet for: - generator missions - single missions - the 3 campaigns You do need Internet for the career mode to ensure no cheating or pirating as stats are kept on a leaderboard. Multiplayer needs net for all games ;) X52 is good however many recommend force feedback because this sim implemnts realistic stick centre position. Consider the force feedback g940 set it's good value and includes rudder pedals which are a great help!

http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_444a.html Even that is out of date. Leaps and bounds since 777 studios took over. There are 3 static campaigns and an auto generated static career mode. But a dynamic career comes in December along with multi seat bombers handley page "the bloody paralyser" and the dreaded Gotha. Only sim I've ever played every day of the week. Multiplayer is intense, my hands sweat and my neck hurts after some dogfights!

Thanks Lazy me! For shutdown I have been landing and then set throttles to OFF and leave the rest to the groundies ;)

OK here is my 1 page checklist from the training mission. Very much a draft, so it's in excel you can change it if you want to use it. Cheers DCS A-10C Startup Card.rar
-
OK I have the training mission without the EAC step, so I will make one. It's probably good to make your own to learn it anyway as you go.
-
Hi All, Has anyone made a one or two page startup checklist for this sim? I've got Eddies checklist but I'm looking for a more condensed one to put next to my screen, with just the mandatory items. If not, I'll just make one from Wags video I think. Cheers

The new sopwith pup is deadly. Very easy to aim with it. Also now the planes are on sale for 3.99 for a few days. I think it ends on the 12th.

Well I have a 30incher, at 2560x1600 so I'll do anything I can for more FPS including Placebos :megalol: To be honest I also did some other things like disabling services, cleaning out temp directories etc which may also have helped my performance. So my testing wasn't so scientific. But it's playable now and for that I am happy.

Mega-Whoopsie!! Sorry I know I just have both forums open and stupid me went to the wrong tab  That's some serious research Bucic thanks!

In my quest for more fps, I stumbled on this: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2983182/Re_Forcing_vsync_in_Full_Scree.html#Post2983182 This does seem to give me a good boost, MORE so in black shark than in A-10C but at least it does increase the FPS somewhat but still not at 60. Performance Improvement for Nvidia Multi-GPU
TAIPAN_ replied to TAIPAN_'s topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yep all good as long as it says nvidia recommended (multi-gpu) in that setting. I have the 258.96 drivers and they don't have a profile for dcs.exe, only simulator.exe which applies to both FC2 and DCS: ka-50
