  1. now sorted - it's on the BD official site.
  2. That's brilliant! Thanks a million!
  3. +1!! Can't even do the night ops training mission for it because there's no ground crew on that small "abandoned" airfield to remove them...
  4. Hello, does anyone know where the pdf doc with the mission briefs is located for the AV-8B Ottoman Courier Campaign? I can't find it at all. It's normally in Mods - Campaigns... but it's not there... the other campaign briefs are there but nothing for the Ottoman Courier. Thanks!
  5. Anyone know where the pdf doc with the mission briefs is located? I can't find it at all. It's normally in Mods - Campaigns... but it's not there... the other campaign briefs are there but nothing for the Ottoman Courier. Cheer!
  6. I cannot taxi away in the night ops training mission. No matter how I try to contact the ground crew, they will not reply to remove the wheel chocks. I tried to do it before engine start up, after engine start up, canopy open, closed, no difference - I assume maybe because you are at FARP and not a proper airbase? Either way it's very annoying but there is basically no way of doing this training mission. I tired to do a vertical takeoff but apparently having the wheel chocks also means your plane is glued to the ground lol.
  7. ED, I am not sure if I'm alone, I assume not, but I have 4k ultra-wise monitor and reading the tiny text on mission briefs in a small window in the middle of the screen with the rest of my screen taken up by empty space is really annoying. I mean I always end up straining my eyes. That aside, I think the mission briefing experience before a mission starts is just terrible. Partly because the window and text within it is too small like I mentioned, but also because mission briefs should be far more engaging and interactive. We should have an interactive map next to the text, perhaps with parts of the text in boxes around specific areas of the map where they are applicable or whatever - basically anything is better than what we have. I mean all the talented mission designers create pdf's and bypass the DCS mission briefings completely, probably for this reason. I believe we should really stray towards an interactive and more dynamics, and much easier to read, mission briefs where we actually want to spend time thinking about the mission we will fly and where it should really help us digest the information we need. In the current state mission briefs are a chore I feel. Better UI and mission briefs are on my wishlist.

  8. May I also ask - apparently there's a fast and a slow slew when using the DMT. The way it's explained doesn't seem to work. I guess this has also been changed recently. Don't suppose you know how to do this now? I find using the TPOD it's no issue but with the DMT when I slew it seems to be a bit to fast so getting fine accuracy is hard.
  9. Ah thanks for that. Well I found that when you're operating via the TPOD if you're zoomed in you can move the crosshairs with good accuracy using the TDC. If you zoom out then then the crosshairs move much quicker using same TDC input. So I mean accurately aligning the TPOD is no issue I found?
  10. Thank you very much for the run down. I do adore the Viggen's low level mission profile and how it goes about doing things. I do however still worry about SP content being a bit of an issue. The Mirage seems like it offers quite a bit more in that respect. I think unfortunately that might be enough to sway me towards it for now. Just out of curiosity, how difficult is the Viggen to learn? One thing I actually don't like about the F-18 is just hw many sub-modes and options you have. It's almost overkill and I probably only ever use 50% of what's on the table. Not that this is something to complain about but in a way I do like the idea of more simple aircraft which are not that full of options. The F-5 is one of my favourite but unfortunately it has a huge lack of SP content so much as I like it I pretty much never fly it I feel both the Viggen and the Mirage are a good fit for me as you don't have million sub menus on your MFDs to deal with a million options. In a way I like this simplicity. One thing I've noticed with the Mirage that I really dislike is that the cockpit is black - so finding switches is proving a right pain, especially when a shadow falls on that part of the aircraft. I don't think this will be a problem with the Viggen.
  11. I see. It seems like you also need to be within a certain RPM range. Around 80% always seems to work as far as I can tell.
  12. That's not it. Apparently I had to press "DESG" on the EHSD. Perfect! I didn't realise that "DESG" on the EHSD was applicable to things the DMT is pointing at. I thought it was only to designate selected wp as the target. Thanks for that!
  13. Hi folks, This must have changed from the way it used to be because I'm stuck on the training mission. I need to drop a GBU-12 on a JTAC lased target using DMT, not the TPOD. So I get to the point of where my LST mode (SSS aft) auto-locates and points to the target and the JTAC is lasing it, master arm is on, bomb is all set, in AG master mode, and I can see the target cue on the HUD flying towards it... except... there is no vertical ASL line to steer me to the target, and there is no release cues or timers... what am I missing? Similarly, if I switched to the TPOD which then automatcally slaves to that target - again, no information about release cues... I'm super confused. There seems to be no up to date manuals or tutorials to help me out. Quite frustrating.
  14. I'm in dire need of this myself. learning this plane has been a real pain thanks to outdated manuals, tutorials and training missions... grrrr
  15. I'll add to this with my recent experience. I bought the new Reverb G2 and sold it 3 days later... 100% VR is the future, and in principal it's amazing. In practice the problem is still DCS's poorly optimized old game engine. Now if you're not too bothered about having high res VR headsets then maybe there's more on the table for you. I tried various older VR headsets including the Rift S and I was not a big fan of the resolutions or screen door effect. So I waited and waited and eventually got the G2 - the G2 on it's native res of 2160 x 2160 is the absolute bare minimum that I would deem acceptable in terms of resolution in VR, and many consider it to be amazing... but clearly this is in comparison to older headsets and not in comparison to what we are used to on a 2D screen or just seeing real life with our eyes. I still wish it was better. And if you up-scale it in Steam VR and run it on twice that, although it's obviously unflyable, just to sit inside a pit and appreciate what it could theoretically look like is seriously mind blowing. This is not why I sold it though, as I still think the G2 is awesome and I would go back to it in a heart beat. Anyway, as I found out my rather beefy rig (by most people's standards) was nowhere near good enough to run the G2 at it's native res perfectly smoothly (crucial for me, especially for dogfighting) without having to turn basically every graphics setting to a bare minimum. So what I was left with was the amazing feeling of sitting in the plane with a terrible looking world and everything with jaggy edges, and I realised people really make massive compromises in terms of graphics for that feeling of being in VR. Of course those with a very high single core clock speed and a 3090 might be able to have a much better experience, but to think that my rig runs it like crap is a real kick in the balls (Ryzen 3950X, 64GB 3200MHz RAM, RTX 2080 Super). I'm planning on getting a 3080Ti when it comes out but even so I think until we see multi-core utilisation from this game engine, I will not be returning to VR, even though I sulk every day about it and going back to a 2D screen from VR really feels like taking 1 million steps back in the wrong direction, but I simply cannot live with all the details set to low or nothing and have those jagged edges on everything. I mean it was a struggle to run it well without MSAA, only god knows what a slide show it would have been with MSAA. Anyway, that's my 2p from a user that has had to go back and give up on VR dreams. Mostly because only one of my 16 cores is actually getting used in this sim I will admit VR is freaking amazing, and especially ejecting out of a plane - that was my favourite part lol
  16. Yeah, that's a real shame.
  17. Thanks for the input. I'll give this a shot!
  18. CPU is bottlenecking with much weaker cards as it is. I'm not sure there's any set up for any price that can run DCS on full settings without having crappy fps over certain places... Incerlik cough cough* Scenery aside, I believe all the moving units on the map are eating up your CPU so there's no GPU that will fix that if you have a fair amount of units etc.
  19. Yeah I'm just learning the Harrier now. Love it but some very annoying bugs and a real lack of new manuals/ tutorials after the TPOD changes is making me struggle a bit but I'm getting there. The thing I love about the Harrier so far are the superb training missions (even though the sensors/ TPOD one is clearly outdated and does not reflect the current state of affairs). If the Mirage has a similar level of training missions it might sway me towards that. Plus I love the Red Flag stuff and it seems there's a decent campaign for it. I've flown 10 of the Raven One missions. TBH I was not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. Sometimes I felt stuff wasn't that well thought through and actually had a sort of artificial feel to it. Also the carrier ops were a bit handicapped I thought by never having any planes or deck equipment when you return - BD said it was due to the carrier AI logic being unpredictable and thus he was airing in the side of caution. That still broke some immersion for me. But overall, yes BD is great for making good content. I believe he created the Harrier training missions and they are excellent. I'm actually really keen to finish them so I can do the Ottoman campaign missions that come with the Harrier. If the Mirage is anything like that I am swaying towards it even though the Viggen's mission profile sounds like a blast. I'm also keen to try this dynamic Liberation campaign thing. Sometimes SP scripted missions feel REALLY scripted and that also breaks some immersion. So I'm hoping this might be a nice change.
  20. Ah I see. Well to be honest I think I figured out how to use it to be a non-issue. All you do is - designate a point in the HUD via TDC depress (down) when you are in INS mode (which results in the reversal input/ output bug) but instead of then slewing round in this mode, just press SSS doen twice to go back to your TPOD and then you can slew this point around normally. So although it's a bug I guess it's not a big deal. Maybe I'll change my mind once I start employing weapons, not sure.
  21. Wow. This is very interesting. You'd have thought this should have been said in the training mission or chuck's guide. Thanks for that. I'll experiment and figure it out.
  22. Yeah I'm still torn. It's mostly about SP for me. The only thing I do in MP is dogfighting and the Hornet is fine for that minus the horrid wobble bug. I'm not too bothered about adding the Mirage to the dogfighting arsenal though it would be nice to have. And I sort of do like the fact that it can be used on almost any map with some degree of realism. The Viggen is a fish out of water but I do love the idea of having a slightly quirky different plane and a different type of mission profile. Although I guess you could technically use a Mirage for low level attack runs too. Decisions, decisions...
  23. Ah so it's a bug, right. I have TDC set to your index finger hat switch on the TM Warthog throttle. I'd hate to change it since I have it this way for all aircraft, plus it sort of makes more sense than any other buttons for this role.
  24. Hi folks, I'm just doing the DCS training missions for the AV-8B and having just done the guns and rockets training mission I am super puzzled... so it seems like sometimes the gun will let me fire and sometimes not. My trigger is working perfectly so it's not a stuck button. Is this a bug or am I just not withholding some sort of necessary parameters? I don't see anything in the manual. I tried to test various speeds and throttle changes and I figured that at idle thrust it wont let you fire at all and based on engine rpm I can't quite figure out when it does and doesn't let you fire. What's the trick?
