haha, you think you have a short fuse? check out Torino's posts, lol

But back to the topic - don't feel bad man. TrackClip Pro's break erry day. Best not to get a new one, rather replace the armature with something more sturdy. I'm sure you've got the will and the wherewithal to do so. Save yourself another $50 spent on crap.

Lol, another track shit pro bites the dust.

Mine deaded itself a couple years ago, things are cheap pieces of shit, wait, I should say expensive pieces of shit, because for the exorbitant price you pay you get the weakest plastic in china with 3 leds and a promise that sooner rather than later the thing will break on you.

yep.. seen that one already.. twice. I made my one wireless and it's somehow more difficult to destroy now.

Jep! You are quite correct actually, used those as well.

It's a fragile piece of :helpsmilie:, but I'm NOT going back to wearing a cap.

I don't understand this, the cap is even better in most ways.

The track clip doesn't even provide better tracking. It's such a POS it's insulting.

Please elaborate.

I have had three track clips, first one was broken when I took it out of the packaging, the second one broke after a month, the third one after a week (or something like that), I then stopped even bothering returning them since I found almost no practical difference in tracking from the cap and the track clip, I thought maybe I could use it and have some background light but the track IR still won't let me filter it out as the camera just wasn't good enough.

Also the track clip is for some inexplicable reason (to save money) powered by a USB cable, which is to short and always in the way.

On top of that they charge 50$ for it, which is insane considering.

The cap works just as well, is included, does not come in the way, and does not break. On top of that I don't have to squabble in the store every other month to get a new led lamp to put on my head.

The track clip pro is a cash grab, it's so cheap to make that the money they make from it far outweighs any badwill they get, they afford it because naturalpoint squashes any kind of competition and because of that there not being much of a choice when it comes to head-tracking in games.

That's pretty much my take on it.

How does all of that equate to 'even better in most ways'? None of us disagree about it being fragile, so...

Btw, I find the cable length to be just fine. I have one bound to the headphone cable quite nicely.

The track clip pro, in my opinion, looses in all of these:

Cost,

Comfort,

Durability

And ties with the original clip:

Tracking ability

So yes, I think the track clip pro is worse than the cap.

If you are comfortable with it it's fine by me, if anyone finds that the track clip pro works best for them props to you, I just really dislike it from my experiences with it.

I had replaced hats but the old tracker stays, it does what I want it to do with some maintenance, the 3 dot resolution was clear after I had attached 3 pieces from a (normal) high visibility vest and the strips were only small strips, those were bound to the size of that metal thing to look around.

Metal head right?
