Gugarion
First off, I have read this thread. You may think it's silly but there is no denying that zombies are mainstream and generate enormous amounts of interest. Something that will only benefit ED and subsequently, all of us... /rant I would like to know if someone who is well versed with the mission editor and with animating/etc. could tell me if it's possible to convert an existing unit or create a new "Zombie" unit that is placeable in the ME and can be assigned triggers, etc. If so, if someone with the skills and desire is interested (I don't have the expertise nor the software to animate) in animating and painting the zombie texture I would be happy to pay $ via PayPal. I'm thinking that $25 is a fair amount but if not, please PM me if you disagree and we can discuss. Also wondering if it's possible to create a new "country" for the zombies and another for bandits? I left out details about my project but am happy to share them if there is interest. I am a developer by day so this is not entirely a fantastical whim. Just somewhat - at least for the moment. dikkeduif
I kinda had it with all the zombie games, L4D, project zomboid, dead island, dayz, etc... I get it, zombies are cool and all that, but this whole genre is becoming repetitive. I feel it's being over used. DayZ was quite the success for BIS but it's a whole different game... People who play DayZ don't always like Arma2 you know. Usually there's also an age gap between the DayZ players and Arma 2 players, with the Arma 2 players being a bit more mature than the Dayz players. Most people who play dcs games like the realism level of the simulator. I don't think they are so anxious to have zombies in their sim. Also what's the challenge in dropping a CBU on a group of zombies in a town... :s Unless they suddenly start taking over tanks etc and controlling them... which they won't, since they are mindless zombies :) Edited August 2, 2012 by dikkeduif

WildFire
Well really its only logical. Your asking about zombies in a flight simulator. FLIGHT SIMULATOR. and your asking for zombies. Maybe its just me being crazy stupid but it seems your request is beyond ridiculous. Plenty of people have said it, there are already zombie games everywhere. Another point would be that everything inside DCS is real. There are A-10's and P-51's in real life. All the vehicles included in the game are actual vehicles. This leads me to believe that there is an inherent value put on realism, one that has to exist for a game to approach the level of "high fidelity" simulator. So why all of a sudden should there be a bunch of unrealistic stuff?

schkorpio
Hey, DCS welcomes different levels of fidelity. I'd be all in for mowing zombies down in an F-22. I would love for zombies(or other virus outbreaks & civil unrest) to be DCS :) Co-op missions where ground forces are struggling to maintain the quarantine zone around a small town - eventually the perimeter is breached and its up to the air cavalry to keep them contained Then stopping them from getting to neighbouring towns and infecting them also, causing the numbers of infected to swell. Protecting strongholds from being overwhelmed by infected Then say picking off handfuls of zombies as civilians try to reach vehicles, then clearning a road/path for them so that they can get on a high way. Escorting a convoy of survivors as they make their way along a highway to a seaside port, and zombies run at them from the surrounding country side or a horde is clumped up ahead. I actually think this would be a great training tool, because of the variety of scenarios you could do - ranging from cluster/carpet bombing of hordes of infected, to precision aiming of guns to pick off handfuls of enemies before they reach some friendlies. And since they can't shoot back then i think it would be fun way to learn weapon systems, accuracy and general flying technquies at a slower pace. I can see why people wouldn't want this, but variety is never a bad thing if you ask me :) Sponsored by: http://www.ozpc.com.au

I think it would be a great idea to add zombies or even an alien invasion. It's just for giggles and fun not seriousness.
OttoPus
If zombies development brings DCS to better humans animations (with skeletal constrictions), maybe motion captured, and an easy way to script these models actions in reaction to triggers or players inputs, it can be interesting. Am I the only one who thinks that we need animated ground and naval crew way before zombies?

galagamo
I was pondering this myself, I'm a big fan of the "Walking dead" series. icemaker
I prefer Dev's spend their time debugging the sim or creating HardCore Planes instead adding Zombies!!! Have you seen in any movie, Zombies driving Shilkas or Sams. Ask this to Arma Or Battlefield Comunity it should be more "realistic" if it could be!
