Dethmagnetic Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 I just got shot down by an Mi-24 helicopter with an AT-6 (anti-tank missile). I'm not sure if he was aiming at me or I just got in the way (I was trying to engage him with sidewinders and got too close), but either way, :( Anyways, post your most embarrassing/worst-ever A-10 mistake so that we can learn from (read: mock) each other's failures. Gate-5 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) Getting the message "KC-135 killed Spike with KC-135". Actually I crashed into it while refueling and suddenly our planes broke apart in a nice fireball. Being sunk in searching infantry on the TGP (CSAR mission without labels) while slowely going into vertical dive and noticing it just before impact. Edited September 10, 2012 by Gate-5

WarthogSmurf Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Hmmm getting my wing shot off by a BMP, got it stable , flew 50 miles towards closest friendly airport then hydrolics gave away forgot which button/switch to flip (it is a real big one btw hard to miss but oh well) and then crashing 2 miles infront of the runway ... just another day at the DS of the 476th =)
Skymad Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Yesterday I saw on MP someone getting killed by his own Maverick :) My biggest fail? Hmm, once I had too hard landing which blew all my tires. I started wheel breaking, plane turned 90 degrees, went off runway and crashed directly into a Humvee, and I got kicked for AI teamkill. Hilarious.
JABO2009 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 the biggest A10 fail I saw was on a Su25 vs A10 server, when a hog gave me a blast with a sidewinder, leaving me heavily damaged in my Su25, the guy thougt I was a write off and turned away, but I still managed the poor Toad to turn and shoved a R73 up his a... , setting him into pieces.. landed the Su with gear up , noseless, fuel leaking and one engine on fire, but stayed alive. epic. xilol Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Losing both wings because of structural damaged coming out of a dive with a heavy plane with 4 cbus and going for a gun run, at a speed of more than 500 knots. Did not make it to base, but I shot and killed that T72. "IN ALTIS VIS ET VIRTUS" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

gregzagk Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Yesterday I saw on MP someone getting killed by his own Maverick :) Oh yes!!!That was me :D That happens when you have a wrong angle and dive. Mosley Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Flying a nice tight diamond formation, and while fencing in, and setting up systems I drifted into lead and we both had fun watching the ins align again. i7 2600k @ 4.4 / GTX 470 1.3gb / 8GB DDR3 1600 / TM Warthog #7440 / Toshiba 37" 1080p / OCZ Vertex3 SSD 128GB / Win7-64 / TIR4
Yurgon Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Crashing into my wingman during a formation take-off in the campaign. Oh well, at least the crew chiefs didn't have to go too far to collect all the scrap metal. :music_whistling:
Darkwolf187 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Prepped for takeoff, started rolling. I knew my wingman was also rolling on the right-hand lane of the runway, so I stayed on the left. Took off, stayed straight and level, then banked left to get some distance from him, and KABOOM! Turned out what what had happened from the track is shortly after takeoff, I drifted over the top of my wingman so he was now on my left instead of on my right where I thought he was. When I banked left to get away from him, I piled straight into him. Take home lesson? Look before you bank when you know a wingman is around :) Another time I was coming in on one engine in a 15 knot crosswind. First time landing without full systems. Lined up as well as I could, flaps at 30, no speedbrakes, fighting with the rudder and ailerons to keep the TVV on track, sliding all over the approach, and just as I'm crossing the threshold I look to my right and see my wingman coming in at the same time! Anyway, it seems that my wingman was smart enough to realize I was going to hog the whole runway, because a few seconds later he punched the throttle, aborted his landing and left me to it :) Touched down a bit hard and wobbly, but brought it back safely. I was stoked :) Unfortunately though, the ground crew refused to talk to me...

159th_Viper Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Yup. Was in a negative-g push and released: bomb floated up into me, BOOM. In a spiral dive myself keeping tabs on the bomb on it's way down. A moment's inattention, lost visual on the bomb for a blink and re-acquired a split-second before it came through the canopy..... Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? SmokeyTheLung Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 ...This one was staged, but still pretty funny: Two ship formation flight, lead was flying directly under me with about 150 ft of separation. Tailgate Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I created a refueling mission with multiple AI flights and didn't space the flights of F-15E's far enough behind the tanker and didn't adjust their speed. I was on the boom as they zoomed past the tanker then one came around and attempted to refuel while I was still on the boom. I heard him coming, but thought that he was going to form up, but no, he came right up on my six that that was it.

FreeFall Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Not very epic, but I often forget to turn off the external lights. I've seen some youtube videos as well where people fight the enemy with all lights on. :)

Shadow060 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Was flyinh eariler today...Took a few canon hits from a Mi-24 and saw a reduced fan speed in the right engine. Hit the override (?) switch on the left panel and the rpm's returned to near normal. Got a 'Right Engine Hot' Warning on the panel, but ignored it. I spontaneously combusted about 5-10 minutes later. Not sure, but I think I committed a delayed suicide ignoring the warning.
