Silver_Dragon Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 What changes on the Mig-21Bis addon take acount with the new team? (AFM, Systems, Weapons, funtionality) The Beczl initial extra models addons and funtionality (weapons, vehicles (ZSU-57-2, S-60, PUAZO, etc), GCI) can be affected / changed / canceled? You talk Mig-23 (and I assume Su-22) early plans dont enter into the near plans of the team. That can be delayed / canceled? Thanks Team. 159th_Falcon Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Good question's. I'd guess that all ON aircraft systems and weapons are not affected. Anything not directly related to the MIG-21 though, well we will have to wait and see. Good questions though. It's a bit too early to tell exactly how much will change in the final feature set. I can confirm that we have stripped a few weapons from the aircraft (nothing major, however) and no units apart from the MiG-21 will be included. GCI is too early to tell as well. Silver_Dragon Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Thank Cobra, its very sad see very good model ZSU-57-2, S-60, PUAZO, etc can not see into DCS: W with part of Mig-21Bis (or assume other module), expected more team news in the future. Esac_mirmidon Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) Time to move forward and leave out all the rest. I have a couple of questions much more interesting than " run a forum soap opera " ( i love this part of the announcement XDDD ) 1.- How is going to be the Mig-21 module integration on DCS World? Like the Huey or the Hip, directly on the DCS GUI? Or will be a standalone installation with it´s own GUI, Options, Controls, etc? 2.- How is going to be the multiplayer compatibility? No costumers of the Mig-21 could see the Fishbed on DCS Servers? 3.- How is going to be the Mig-21 update process? Standalone software only for the Fishbed or maybe a full integration on DCS system? 4.- Leatherneck Simulations still want to realease a GOLD final and complete module? Or they are considering a Beta step, prior to Gold release like BSTK products? 5.- Any rough or brief consideration about final price of the Fishbed for non backers? 6.- Any plans to sell physical products like extra info DVD, T-Shirts, etc after DCS-Mig-21 get released? Like a permanent Leatherneck products market. Or only those for backers and then get focused only on software? 7.- Any plans to include or exclude something on the Mig-21 taking in count the actual DCS World posibilities? 8.- Any plans to adapt the DCS_Mig-21 into the new DCS EDGE engine? Could in the future Fishbed costumers be able to fly it over Nevada? Part of the delay could be because extra adaptation work for 1.2.8 is needed and next versions of DCS plus EDGE code? Thanks a lot for your great efforts and work to bring the fishbed alive, from a very happy indeogogo backer. Edited February 27, 2014 by Esac_mirmidon " You must think in russian.." Teeps Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 GCI is too early to tell as well. Two thoughts: it'd be a real shame to lose GCI; and I hope we're not too far from release, you kind of sound like we're talking months not weeks. Paradox Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Yeah, I don't want to lose GCI, it kind of makes the MiG-21 in a modern scenario work.
statrekmike Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I don't know how effective the MiG would be without GCI, even a placeholder would work fine until a more detailed system could be put into place would be great. As far as losing weapons, hopefully we did not lose any air to air weapons, it does not have a ton of them to begin with.
Cobra847 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) 1.- How is going to be the Mig-21 module integration on DCS World? Like the Huey or the Hip, directly on the DCS GUI? Or will be a standalone installation with it´s own GUI, Options, Controls, etc? TBD 2.- How is going to be the multiplayer compatibility? No costumers of the Mig-21 could see the Fishbed on DCS Servers? TBD and details to be ironed out, but it's safe to assume that if someone does NOT have the MiG-21, there will be a free "MP Compatability" pack which end-users can install. Optimally, however, the aircraft will be a part of the DCS Core. 3.- How is going to be the Mig-21 update process? Standalone software only for the Fishbed or maybe a full integration on DCS system? TBD. Optimally integrated with Core DCS. 4.- Leatherneck Simulations still want to realease a GOLD final and complete module? Or they are considering a Beta step, prior to Gold release like BSTK products? Evaluating all options. TBD: 5.- Any rough or brief consideration about final price of the Fishbed for non backers? $49.99 6.- Any plans to sell physical products like extra info DVD, T-Shirts, etc after DCS-Mig-21 get released? Like a permanent Leatherneck products market. Or only those for backers and then get focused only on software? Yes! However, probably a while after release. 7.- Any plans to include or exclude something on the Mig-21 taking in count the actual DCS World posibilities? At the moment, we are not limited by DCS capabilities. We have to decide on a version to release the Aircraft on, this influences when it will be released too. EDGE does not influence our workflow. The modular nature of DCS means that you of course will be able to fly the MiG-21 anywhere you wish. :) Thanks a lot for your great efforts and work to bring the fishbed alive, from a very happy indeogogo backer. Thank you for your support! After some quick internal discussion; we can with near-certainty note that GCI will make it in. streakeagle Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 It is great to see this project finally moving forward again. Just give me the MiG-21bis already! If the product is anywhere close to as good as advertised, I would not be averse to paying Leatherneck $50 to make up for my $50 presently lost on IndieGoGo. Others that can afford it might also feel the same way. So after you release it and get rave reviews from everyone that actually wants and likes MiG-21s, think about giving an option for original contributors like me to donate again... though I guess I could just buy a 2nd copy to get practically the same result. The MiG-21 seemed so close to being finished and I want aircraft from that era and earlier so bad (especially the MiG-21 and F-4), that I gave to IndieGoGo. I waffled on giving to Kickstarter for the WW2 project, but ultimately couldn't pass on the chance to get all promised aircraft for just a bit more than a single DCS aircraft. But I have learned a lesson from both investments. I will let others bear the risk of two in the bushes and pay full price for a bird in the hand. The endless waiting for something I have wanted for so many years (well before DCS and Lockon) is too stressful. With no money down, it becomes just another vaporware project that will pleasantly surprise me if it actually becomes a reality. I am so glad I never gave a dime to FighterOps :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I'm thinking of doing exactly that. I happily contributed to the Indiegogo campaign originally, and I'd be happy to buy a second copy to help support Leatherneck Studios. Plus that way I can get my brother to try flying it with me! ;)

WildBillKelsoe Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I know for certain that I'll not be able to know when the Mig-21 will be released. It will be a surprise. A surprise I (and all of you I'm sure) am looking forward to happen. At this juncture, I encourage all developers to state a year only not a season/year to avoid the trouble. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
