ExGreyFox Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Noticing FPS is somewhat all over the place in 1.2.8 even in single player missions. Reverted back to 1.2.7, tons more stable, never dip below 60 fps. With 1.2.8 I'm noticing it crater all the way down to the 30s. Majesco Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 For Nvidia cards only ? I'm using ATI Radeon HD 7970, with the beta 14.4 Catalyst driver, DCS 1.2.7 and 1.2.8 are the same performance: 30-35fps But.....with the official 14.4 (release 4 days later) the fps in 1.2.8 now up to 52-60fps when flying Su-27 and Su-33 in DCS FC 3
SkateZilla Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I wonder what the difference is between 14.4 RC and 14.4 WHQL, ... hmmmm coulda swore they were the same. Mustang Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I wonder what the difference is between 14.4 RC and 14.4 WHQL, ... hmmmm coulda swore they were the same. Time for a quick expand atiumd64.dl_ to atiumd64.dll from 14.4 WHQL to bin folder test...
SkateZilla Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) Time for a quick expand atiumd64.dl_ to atiumd64.dll from 14.4 WHQL to bin folder test... yeah, cuz I'm still resolving DRM issues due the Install package messing with SATA Drivers and Kicking the Active Partitions offline while in use. I dont wanna have to start over.... I'd rather run a command line extract the dll I need an place it in /Bin/ Folder :) Edited April 29, 2014 by SkateZilla Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Mustang Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Just installed clean 14.4 WHQL and i see 0 difference with FPS compared to the 14.4 RC (7850 2gb)
txmtb Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Just installed clean 14.4 WHQL and i see 0 difference with FPS compared to the 14.4 RC (7850 2gb) Same thing here, still have that awesome jump from 13.9 so I'll take it. Slippery Pete Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I got a good 12-15 FPS avg loss with 1.2.8. Also with the F-15C on the ground, engines running, If I move the camera to the back and close in on the engine nozzles the FPS drops to single digits, just looking at them. This didn't happen in 1.2.7

Lao Fei Mao Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I can't figure out why you guys always entangle in the max FPS. When flying DCS world, cap the max fps at 30 is best way to obtain smooth experience. FPS drop from 30~20 is much better than 60~20.
sorcer3r Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 It would be at least nice if performance drops could be fixed when other Uh1/MI8 on the map are firing their guns. These are real performance killers... since their introduction. 1 [sIGPIC]http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b582/sorcerer17/sorcf16-b_zpsycmnwuay.gif[/sIGPIC]

TurboHog Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 20% less fps in my fps benchmark mission. Very dissapointed . 'Frett'
Lange_666 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Recording up to 10% overall loss in my own benchmark mission. I also see short bigger drops occasionally. If i then make a 360° the drop on that same spot is gone... weird. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Gryzor Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Performance in this versión is HORRIBLE. For example, try F-15 DCS campaing, before takeoff fps is stable (arount 40-50 fps), but afther 15 minutos, this turns in a slow motion film (about 15 fps), landing is very difficult... I think is related with static object count, on those missions objects counts (static) are around 150 +/-, but the situation regarding performance, patch after patch, is even worse than before. IMHO, it is more important to to address fixes, not only technical but also those regarding performance, that introduce new elements to the sim (like TF-51 training aircraft). Even, there are more glitches I stated in previous posts, like dissappearing forest or brushes (some of them lasts from more than 1 year) Expect new a horizont with upcoming engine "EDGE", lets pray
Petrovsky Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 And here's a few other threads about bad performance in 1.2.8 ... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2060422#post2060422 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2060315#post2060315
nhowell01 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Currently the Maxfps constraint in the graphics.cfg does not work. Setting a constraint has no effect on capping the FPS. This is also true when using an autoexec.cfg file. The FPS cap functionality of the graphics and any autoexec.cfg is currently broken, and often between versions they stop working.

I've had this in my autoexec.cfg and it works great. I have ran a repair install, remade the file, and checked folder/file permissions for the file as well and its like it is ignored.
