What plus does this Edge come with? I really looked for some reference but didn't find any screenies or a dedicated thread. Can anyone clarify, so we could all find out what puts the mig-21 on hold?

Here we go again, wild rumour, speculation, and then some jumping to conclusions.

Who told you that the MiG21Bis was to be released before the sound was updated?

Has anyone said anything officially about when what will be released, and with which iteration of DCS World?

Let's try and keep this to what we KNOW, and leave the wild and worthless speculation out of it.

No one told me anything and no one said anything officially apart form that it will be in 1.3.0 DCS World. Anyway what I said was just my thoughts on that. Though Nick already mentioned that sounds will be updated before or after the release and I just hope that it will be before because there is still quite some time and it shoudn't take long to fix this issue.

Uh -- what did you find out from Chizh?

1. That they're creating an interim 1.2.9 version for the Sabre release.

2. That the MiG-21 won't be in this interim 1.2.9 version.

So, essentially, almost nothing new. 1.2.9 was not supposed to exist.

I heard about it here, today, for the first time. It hasn't had any bearing on the MiG-21 -- our binaries are currently compiled for 1.3.0.

This is a fluid situation and I don't have any concrete information to share with you all just yet.

That's not good news at all, I figured we would get the Mig in the next couple of weeks, but if you guys are now shooting for 1.3.0, this means the MIG is still a long ways off, if ED is putting out a 1.2.9 and then moving on to 1.3.0, holy crap.

I appreciate your official reply on this, hopefully you will share any new information with us as it comes so that we have a idea of what is going on.

It was my understanding that the MiG release was not dependent on 1.3.0 or EDGE, I have to admit that I am a bit sad to see the overall delay of EDGE cause a potential delay on the MiG, hopefully I am wrong.

Another interpretation is that 1.3.0 is going to be the platform that carries the MiG21Bis, and perhaps the Hawk. It could simply be that the 2 additions constitute the update, and it isn't dependent on Edge?

If so, it is simply that when the modules are released, DCS will adopt the label 1.3.0

Has anyone stated that 1.3.0 will be the point at which Edge arrives?

Yes, it was in the 28th March newsletter (100% sure of that as I'm looking at it), and I think Chinzh or Wags has officially stated that on the forums as well.

Thanks. I was sure but didn't have time to look for the quote.

2 - We are making great progress on implementing our new graphics engine into DCS version 1.3.0 later this year. The new engine brings several important improvements, notably: improved visual qualities, DX11 effects, improved performance, and the ability to support multiple maps including the long-awaited Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) map!

So the MiG-21 is being bundled with 1.3.0 which will be coming "later" this year? I won't have the equipment or time to play DCS while in university which starts in toward the end of August, so I guess I won't be flying the MiG-21 until next summer at best. Great.

Wasn´t the last info that the MiG-21 would still be prepraged for a 1.2.8 release? I´m a little confused. Has anything changed? Where does the info "mid-August" come from?

According to the translation of Chiz´s post, ED ist not the key factor in determining the release date at this point.

-> Contrary to the original plans the F-86 has to be implemented into 1.2.8 (or 1.2.9). Is EDGE/1.3.0 "delayed" again? What are the consequences for the Fw 190?

Hey dudes!

We are currently aiming at adhering to the standardized workflow of releasing the aircraft together with a major point release of DCS.

Flawless integration into the core environment is important to really maintain any semblance of cohesion, and especially to avoid splitting the community.

This is not confirmation of anything, but that is the direction we are leaning towards, that said we still don't know ourselves when we will release.

We are working hard to make this a reality as soon as possible.

In the meanwhile, I hope I can keep you entertained enough by providing detailed insights into the aircraft and it's systems modelling, and more raw gameplay. Next up is KH-66 Grom + RSBN Navigation + SAU Autopilot and more, and we'll go from there.

We're also spending some extra time on improving various aspects of our product, and can't wait to show you what we have up our sleeve. :)

Cheers,

Nick

Does it mean that 3D model update mentioned some time ago by Rudel is going to introduced with the release or in patch as previously planned?

Cobra, could you update us, please, what is the status with afterburner logic (ie. nozzle opening before afterburner is lit)?

Some changes are being made on the external as we go along. Not sure how many will be merged in before release.

Nozzle is fixed. :)
