Dear Wags and the team at ED,

Wow what a couple of heavy weeks you have had over the restructure of the rewards program you have had.

But please do not be disheartened about comments made by people (including me) about said restructure. It must be hard for you to sit back and read some of the comments that are being directed at you, due to really no fault of your own.

I was a little upset on the outcome myself but I realize that sometimes the best intentions don't always turn out the way that they are intended which is the case in this scenario.

I pledged $40 dollars to the kickstarter campaign in good faith and was happy to think that I was getting all the rewards that went with it. Then the you know what hit the fan and all the rewards that went with the original concept went down the drain due to financial feasibility.

After taking a big breath I am just thankful that you are still taking the lead on this and giving us some sort of reward for our backing of the project .

To take on such a program with so much head damage really shows the integrity of your company.

Now it has come to light that some people are now on a campaign do discredit ED.

This to me is very low and the fact that they cannot have this discussion with you behind closed doors and instead want to air their grievances out in the public show that they have no integrity or scruples.

They are acting like little children in the school playground, and that's how they should be looked upon as little 5 year old kids and even laughed at, at the way they have handled them self's .

So I say to you steer a true coarse keep you focus and don't let a few people get under your skin take their criticism and channel it into you determination to produce the best flight sim out on the market which we all know you can.

As we say here in New Zealand "Kia kaha" which means be strong

I cannot wait to fly over the Normandy landscape in my plane of choice and look back at this time and think I am so glad that ED took on this project and made it the best WW2 flight sim on the market.

You will have my support to the end.

Kind Regards

Steve

Great post Smiladon, well said. The one thing we all want is for this project to succeed and become the best WW2 flight sim on the market. DCS is the future!

How else will I get a DCS Hurricane MKII?

Very good post!

There is a lot of grey inbetween black & white.

Sometimes I have enough of that fanboy<-->whiner ping-pong, it´s just not so simple.

ED is standing it´s ground and I have respect for that.

Are they without fault? No, they are humans!

Good post, I hope this thread can stay positive. I've used ED sims since the first Flanker and played all of them since. ED went up against established franchises like Janes and Falcon and are still here creating sims when others have closed up shop or moved on to more lucrative markets like console games. Without ED the future is quite bleak for jet sim fans and for sims in general the choices are not huge. If the financial hit on ED was too great what do people want? to get their freebie's and see another sim developer potentially go under and we don't see any further development of the DCS series?

Some good points made about the DCS WWII situation. I too supported the Kickstarter with hard earned and am happy to have DCS take it under its wing. After all what was the alternative?.....the whole thing just folding? As said before I will just be happy to see a DCS new map and WWII planes and ground vehicles.

Well said. I put $120 into the Kickstarter campaign and I'm really happy that ED picked up the project after it crashed. As long as I get something WWII-ish in DCS World I will be happy...

As the original Kickstarter project failed we have no legal demands on ED whatsoever so I see all I get from them as a bonus.

And reading your references to New Zeeland I looked down on my shoulder and saw your flag on my hoodie ;) "Deeluxe" from NZ sell well here on the other side of the world in Sweden these days and I spent about the same on my hoodie from NZ as I did on that Kickstarter campaign. As a matter of fact it cost me a bit more ($150) and if I rip a hole in it I will be sorry as I like it - but it's not the end of the world? ;)

When the prospect of the kickstarter was raised, i thought long and hard. Those that didn't thought they were buying a game, done deal. Those that did realised it was a gamble, if it paid off we were quids in, if not, we lost money. So you risked you could afford to lose. So, I won't receive the aircraft I hoped for, but hey-hum, life is a disappointment, and I'll get some beautifully modeled aircraft that I woudl have spent plenty of money on anyways. I'll still buy them, as I want t support this genre, I can remember the early days of computer games on my Amiga A500 where everybody produced aircraft simualtors, now we have to cherirsh those that are left. What really broke my heart , was the funds weren't reached for the mossie, the De-Haviland DH98 Mosquito, the Wooden Wonder. Forget the ME262, the DO190, the P47, this was the quite possibly the greatest all round military aircraft ever built, it caused Goering to say to the German aircarft developers " It makes me furious when I see the Mosquito. I turn green and yellow with envy . The British ...they have geniuses, we have nincompoops, After the war is over I'm going to buy a British radio set - then at least I'll own something that has always worked". I would have paid time and again for the mossie, but hey hum , if it keeps ED in the game, I live in hope

I firmly believe that the vast majority of the DCS community is on Eagle Dynamics' side. This angry vocal minority surely originates from elsewhere, not within the DCS community. (And I think I know where ...)
