F-86F Sabre Skins - Combined Threads

Skull I could port this one next but I need to find out how to make the skin shiny in DCS. I made this in warthunder back in the day and it used a different system for specular. It had two separate files in the same folder but I can't find something like this here.

Anyone with more experience who could give me a few tips? I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks for your explanations..

Best regards. Skull

Very impressed with those German skins!

Just to update those that have downloaded my "Mig Mad Marine", "The Huff", Beauteous Butch II" and "Jabara's Sabre" I have now uploaded new versions of them at DSC User files and http://www.lockonfiles.com.

They are based on my latest template and feature several modifications.

I have included re-skinned drop tanks and due to several requests they now include a generic livery for your wingmen.

I intend to leave them alone now and move onto other Sabres.

What wonderful skins! I really appreciate all the effort. When I learn how to make skins for DCS, I will surely contribute a few skins. Right now I don't have the time or skills to produce a quality skin. I will have to look at a Youtube tutorial some weekend. Thanks again to all of the guys and gals with the skims and time, creating such wonderful works of art for the rest of us to enjoy.

To all those that have downloaded my latest skins with the included generic Squadron livery from www.lockonfiles.com:

I have realised that I may made an error in the "description" file for the Basic squadron livery. (This applies to the included Basic livery file ONLY!!)

If you find the sim is not applying the default numbers to your wingmen then open the included Basic Squadron livery folder, then open the "description" file (notepad works fine) and delete sections 3, 4, and 5.

This is what you are deleting ("(LIVERY NAME)" is used as example only):

{"F86_BORT NUMBER_01", 3,"f-86f_bort_number", false},

{"F86_BORT NUMBER_10", 3,"f-86f_bort_number", false},

{"F86_BORT NUMBER_100", 3,"f-86f_bort_number", false},

{"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_01", 3, "f-86f_bort_number_tail", false},

{"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_10", 3, "f-86f_bort_number_tail", false},

{"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_100", 3, "f-86f_bort_number_tail", false},

{"F86_BORT NUMBER_01", 0,"(LIVERY NAME)", false},

{"F86_BORT NUMBER_10", 0,"(LIVERY NAME)", false},

{"F86_BORT NUMBER_100", 0,"(LIVERY NAME)", false},

{"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_01", 0,"(LIVERY NAME)", false},

{"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_10", 0,"(LIVERY NAME)", false},

{"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_100", 0,"(LIVERY NAME)", false},

Then close the file, it will ask you if you wish to save changes, click yes. That should now allow the default numbers to be applied by the sim.

To emphasize again this applies to the included BASIC Squadron livery ONLY.

The same files uploaded to "DCS User Files" now have the corrected "description" file in them as I had already uploaded to the first site when I realised my mistake.

Apologies for my carelessness but old age is a terrible thing.

Skin Mods F86 - USAF Labels and Insignia

I just installed the latest update.

But I find that for all of my mod skins the USAF Label and Star Insignia are mis-aligned...seems like the new skin is overlapping slightly the base skin.

I put all the skins in the Bazar/liveries/ folders for the respective aircrafts....the textures show up correctly except for this issue.

What do I need to do the fix this?

Just a quick note to say Thanks for the improvements to the texture mapping. It's nice to be able to have the gun ports match the camo paint on both sides :)

Most Canucks will know the answer, but the booby prize goes to the first person to tell me what the significance of Sabre 23314 is these days... wink.gif

Skins to be updated and some new ones to be added. One of these days I'll start on the pilot...

Complete skin scrub here.

I read a few comments and I saw that the its generally "drag drop" into the bazer/livery folder.

The problem isnt the skin not showing up, its that its showing up on top of the defeault skin so I have both showing up on the same model.

Could someone help me correct this?

All my stuff is now updated to fix the markings layer the update added and re-uploaded to www.lockonfiles.com and will be up at DCS User files soon. (I knew the updates would create issues but its still a pain in the bum!) Hopefully I can get on with some new ones now as I feel like I've stalled!!!!

By the way does anyone know where the P-51 pilot .dds used by the F-86 is located as I want to paint the helmet?

Quick question guys, before I start sorting out my skin packs. Does anyone know where the texture for the lining inside the jet exhaust is on the template, I have lots of skins with a very light panel inside on the bottom, I would like to sort that out before I get going again.

This is what I mean: Yellow arrow indicates the texture panel in question.
