Trivia: Did you know that ED employs ex-military personal with L-39 flight experience? ;)

Good to know! I'm sure she's in good hands *sound of credit card waving*

I have a question though. Would it be possible to clarify one of my previous posts? Although I guess ED don't want to tell yet...

I wonder how they're going to handle the release of C and ZA. I mean, they said they'll release C with ZA after, so is it going to be one price for two aircraft, or two separate modules? Because I can't imagine many people buying C, when they can buy basically the same aircraft only with weapon capabilities instead.

I am not sure, I am sure there will be more news as we go along. I would imagine it would be two different aircraft, but how it will be handled I am not sure.

You have have Multiple Variants in a Single Module.

(ie FC3),

So if it ends up being 2 for 1, the 2nd Aircraft will likely be patched into the L-39 Module Entry LUA.

But that's not saying they won't be released as separate Modules (ie A-10A and A-10C)

Well the main reason I posted this question is that I saw a lot of "I don't want to fly civilian a/c in DCS" posts here and although I don't mind it, C and ZA are basically the same, only that ZA has weapons. So if they let people choose from two modules, I can imagine they would just buy ZA as there's not much to gain from buying C with it. So two-for-one does make more sense to me. :)

I didn't, but I guess it's not too surprising either: any guy from Russia/"east" world with military fighter experience is likely to have flown a L-39 sometimes. :smartass:

I've a mate, now flying "big boy" Sukhois, who still recalls with emotion how he once got flat tyres on the L-39 for landing it not so good (high temperatures in his country didn't help, IIRC).

Cheers

I agree with that. Realease a C version first and then ZA as an update make sense to me as well.

Just to intertwine my opinion in this thread.

I find it supportive and constructive that ED communicates there business decisions to there community and it sounds logic to have preconditions for third party developers.

I don't read it as personal to anyone or to who ever makes what and how, but it is a good thing if DCS stands for a framework where goods are delivered. Personally the worst thing I can read about a to be released product for DCS is: We are very busy in our personal life and we do this for our hobby. Then silence.. and chit-chat. I truly believe this does more harm then good and for sure does not stand for a professional result.

With regards to the L-39. I buy whatever release is close to reality and has an active cockpit :)

I am in favor of not hearing even one word about a product until it is very close to a beta release that is reasonably close to a final release. I know some people can't stand the fact the Belsimtek releases more betas before finalizing earlier ones, but I for one enjoy and fly all of their products more than anything else released for DCS. I will hold judgement on the DCS:L-39 until I see how it fits into their already aggressive schedule.

If I think of the version of the L-39 like the T-38 vs the AT-38, I would prefer the primary version: the standard L-39 trainer. It is what I see flying over my head every week and what I would want to fly just for the sake of enjoying the flight model and some of the air demonstration team colors. If the differences are truly minimal, then why wouldn't I buy and fly the combat version in training colors in case I change my mind and want to use it for combat? Of course, I would be more than happy to get both versions for the price of one :) All I can do is wait and see what ED produces and when they produce it.

If I am short of cash, combat aircraft come first. If I was only going to buy one trainer, it would be a T-38A. But I am planning on buying the Hawk and any other full-blown DCS standard aircraft (and even FC3 level modules) as long as my finances can support it.

Man, I was one of a few people asking for an L-39 trainer from ED during the Flanker 2 days. A good old zeal reignited. :)

Another new aircraft coming to DCS World later in 2014 will be the venerable L-39 jet trainer, developed by Eagle Dynamics. We will first release the L-39C variant and then later the L-39ZA variant. This aircraft has acted as the primary jet trainer for many countries around the world for several decades. In addition to its training role, the L-39 can also be loaded with ordnance and act as a light attack aircraft.

We also plan for this module to include multiplayer front seat / back seat capability. We believe that this feature will add a new dimension of gameplay for this aircraft and several others like the UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, Hawk, and C-101.

Stay tuned for more details!

Where did he say they both will be paid modules?

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Wait so is the Virtual Patriots L-39 a separate project and ED is making their own?

Yes...

Remain on topic though. This thread is for ED's version

Was a separate project, but apparently it's been cancelled. ED's is the only one in the works now.

I am Czech, so take this question in a really patriotic manner.

Will ED Albatros deliver with czech cockpit and with Czech skin? You know... It is Czech.

I hope not only a skin. The list of countries should really be expanded.

Someone might remember me as 'FlyingRussian' from the Ubisoft Lock-On forum back in '03

Not interested in trainer aircraft in sims but hopefully this benefits other modules (F/A 18D anyone? :music_whistling: )

Don't forget that only the C variant is a trainer.

The ZA version is a light attack variant.

(but yes, finally seeing the F/A 18D come out would be awesome :) )

I meant this is aircraft made by Aero Vodochody in the Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia in past). So I wonder if it will contain the original version.

I think they are modelling the Russian trainer version, so I don't know what that means for a Czech version of the cockpit and such, maybe it can be modded afterwards. When we have more information we can see what they are going to do.

What a shame it is. Me not like it, but will argue not, ser.
