what can you do different than putting the dot on the target?

Just imagine a 109/190, that you have to shot from very close. if you are very close, you put your sight right on the plane. same for ground target, just put the sight right on the target, wait till you're close and shoot.

of course once you're gaining experience, you're doing maneuvers to evade ground fire, but for a start, do some training on unarmed ground targets...

hey there eekz, can you please look into the serverlogs what happened there ?

i havent had sth like this before(well there was sth but that had to do with some ed leftover from a testversion and was only possible with externals).

I never ever called somebody on dcs a cheater, but in this case i DID.

either cheating(dunno how though) or some problem with the netsettings in a way that there was a player who was just invisible for me.

please find the time in the logs and tell me if there was sth suspicous or if i was just as blind as i never evor have been before.

thx

after 3 times rewatching, i can only imagine that the guy had a "tracerbug" and was perfectly below me ... as you can see, there were no impacts or tracers passing by in anysecond ... would mean that he hit every damn bullet ... can be ... but in that case i would like to know his name to congratulate him on this most awesome kill

in the first instance you were getting shot at there was a spit on you're six, and it was that guy you claimed it wasnt. I don't know about the second as like you I didn't see anything.

Maybe it is a bug but we would need to see logs and tracks to really find out, and on a busy server with large tracks it is difficult.

Just a reminder 1.6 No multiplayer disputes on the ED forums, including inter-squad flamewars.

If you do have an issue with someone on the server please PM eekz

It's been a few patches back maybe last year sometime but, I remember squdmates and I had this issue where we could not see one us setting on the ramp. Existing out and back in fixed it.

No flamewar from my side here no worries .... Just the normal adrenaline from the fight coming throu...all good.

Eeksz is informed and has the proper time when it happened.

I guesswhen he has some info from the tracks you will get it.

We had some similar issues yesterday on our server when amates plane stood still in theair allthough he waslike 10km awayfrom that ĺleftover" plane.... I shotthe leftover plane and he exploded 10km away ...butwe blame instabiliti of our routeserver because both our dcs server crashed shortly after that and even our tsserver was not working as intended... Was fixed after a complete restart

Thx for looking into that

reserved slots cause inviaible planes. everyone else sees them on the ramp. not sure if thats whats causing this or if its something different but i had an invisible spit on a different server the other day because he was in a reserved slot with an old\broken script

Burning skies doesnt have reserved slots afaik, though i could imagine that it has to do with someething leftover from an old script of anyy sort.

I was talking to bodyorgan yesterday and he told me that he had SDhot a 109 in a similar fashion like i died yesterday , BUT not at the same position.

So i can very well imagine that it may be of the same sort of issue like i encountered the day before on the =STP= seever shortly before it crashed.

Had my first ground kills : you just need to aim indeed. At least on soft targets. Tanks I still fail to kill them after two complete cannon runs....

As for the dogfights I have a major problem in my spit: how to you recognize bandits? Are there typical things to notice like dihedral angle, sounds?

My approach from now on is waiting to be shot to know for sure it's an enemy in my 6...... And even with this, I usually fight back to realize I was just being shot by a P51.... :D

First: Make sure your labels are on, they make the dots just slightly larger.

Second: Make sure you have a zoom binded somewhere on your control set up. I'm constantly zooming in and out on people to ID before I'm committed.

Third: Make sure you ID the target before you fire.

P51s have a a red tail or a yellow nose and squared off wings and a silver body.

Spitfires are the darkest dot there is in game currently due to their prop and have elliptical wings.

109s have rounded wings, green camouflage, learn their fuselage's shape. 190s are also green camouflage, some have a red and yellow band around the back of the fuselage. They have a radial front.

Fourth: Practice, Practice, Practice

Fifth: Hop on the teamspeak, many people work in pairs and groups feeding each other information as well keeping their 6's clear.

Sixth: Use the radio with the message's informing you of enemy flying over the different target areas.

Seventh: Tracer colors. Allies have a lightly colored red for the mustang. Spit have the light red aswell for MGs and yellow for cannons. Axis has mainly green. The 190's shoot green (mg) and a dark red for cannons, but you mostly notice the green. The 109 mgs are green and really stand out, never noticed the the cannon, maybe its a blue?

Its being mentioned before, but eekz we need a ping limiter and a secondary airfield for the axis. thanks

+1

I think the guys with the edge live closer to the server and have faster PCs.

My internet connection is second to none, but my ping is about 160. My CPU is i7-2600, a bit dated.

As to identifying the enemy? Get zoom in and out setup on your controller's buttons. No excuse, you can easily see who you are about to fire at.

Thanks for all those tips!

I tried to learn the various shapes in the encyclopedia, but was not sure of the skins actually used on the server: those are the same as seen in encyclopedia?

I was not sure also of the tracers color for each plane: so green is definitly German I guess :)

That CPU is still good for gaming for a few more years yet.

Yeah if they set it at 190-200.

And totally agree with you about the zoom view, I have mine mapped to the slider axis on the warthog throttle.

This sounds kind of wrong. Please correct me if Im wrong, but Im sure I've seen both 109s and 190s in grey camo. Also, the 109s have square short wings, the round or rather elipsoid wings are the Spits themselves.

I find it is very easy to identify the Spit due to its wing, and its rotor prop and the P51 is very fat in the fuselage with a distinctive tailplane. The germans are much harder, and sometimes they look like the allied planes from a certain angle. Im still having trouble with proper ID but Im getting better.

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Early 109Es have square wings, but 109Fs and later (G,K) have rounded wings.

The 190s have the more squared looking wings, but they are still rounded at the corners.

Some of the 109/190s marking have gray in them, but the wings always generally have that standard Luft marking of green and grey. They don't have many choices on the server either way.

Plus the LOD (level of detail) when far away defaults the colors I believe. This is very true with the spitfire, it always has that blue color to it far away.

Eekz, a quick question. Will your server be migrating to the Normandy map as soon as it hits (pre)release in 2.X Alpha, or will you be waiting for the 2.5 Merge?
