a few miles further south and we would able to land on LAX... :music_whistling:

Awwww, just a little more to the east and we could have the whole Grand Canyon :(

Wags said that they "need to walk before they run" in map building and that the maps can be extended (the current map was extended, right?), so don't lose spirit on this.

I'm curious if that small part of LA will also be represented like Las Vegas or it will be just "generic" flat land or generic village or something.

I am disappointed... the map doesn't quite reach Florida :P

I`m fine with it reaching LA - from the West ... :pilotfly:

I'm more concerned whether they add FT. Irwin or 29 Palms. The grand canyon will be fun to fly through though.

Source: Wags' screenshots of the new map in the mission editor.

I surely hope that other airfields would be included - at least to a functional level, even if they are not modelled in all detail. But as the stated goal of the Nevada map always was to be a training ground, the modeled 3 airfields are probably the relevant and thus only ones ...

The area depicted in yesterday´s overview is also considerably bigger than the one from the Oct. 2013 screenshot.

It seems like we´re getting much more of the Grand Canyon, Arizona, Utah, California and all the no man´s land in between. Gotta love that!

Actually, the new map DOES seem to include most of the Grand Canyon.

Notice the blue outline on the original (official) image seems to be blocking out the Mission Editor interface, but the map itself seems to be fully zoomed out in the editor window.

Also the distance of 329 nautical miles as indicated on the map is 610 KM.

610 KILOMETERS A SIDE.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you are a tester, so does you first image show the actual in-sim map ? (if yes, that's nice) :D

however the earlier beta map showed a less detailed outer area (with China lake, Tonopah, Grand Canyon West), maybe those areas are in that 610 kilometers zone what is less detailed (?)

by the way: i think the main runway is the E-W runway at Creech and not the SE-NW runway (runway direction symbol on the map)

there are many airbases/airfields

What do the different colors mean?

Dark green is USAF it seems.

Red might be commercial or something similar?

And the rest?

3 it is, remember no matter the size of the map, the focus of this map is NTTR and for training missions and such.

That`s bad news!

The mission setup will be a little bit different....if you like to have a Blue vs Red scenario. Both side need to fly to different fixed area, before they can enter the "playground".

I thought we have a couple of airfields on different location to the border of the map.

Anyway, a new area and FARPs can be placed all over the map :music_whistling:

That is a bit of wasted potential, since all those 3 bases so close to each other makes red vs blue multiplayer very tricky - this way it is going to be mostly limited to training, as you said. Too bad since what we´ve seen from Las Vegas shows an amazing attention to detail. It is a bit like buying a Ferrari and only driving it to do grocery shopping 15 minutes from home.

Oh well, this will probably not change at this point in development - it will make a great training range still and very awesome to fly in the choppers. It will be an amazing proof of concept for EDGE and I can´t wait to get my grubby fingers on it.

Again, the map was picked for Red Flag type training missions (not to mention its EDs first go at new maps so 3 airfields and such is perfect for getting the hang of building new maps), Hormuz will be the first full combat map.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some RED v. BLUE range objects (such as psuedo airfields) to pop up by modders at some point. Allowing for perhaps more distance between RED v. BLUE scenarios. I'd guess..

Red Flag would be great to have on here. Along with what Beach said, hopefully there will be some other airfields pop up. Especially Edwards, It would look great on this map.
