I don't get it, I need at least a month to get familiar with the airplane and to get ready for meaningless combat action. After a month I'm ready to enjoy the airplane, and there is no room for another new airplane to pop in. So, from my point of view this is mass production of modules. I would be more happy to see EDGE asap since current graphic engine is way obsolete in every aspect. Well, there are preferences so all people might not buy every module I think. I'm one of those who collect everything and try different things in between. It's more of "lateral" approach I think: learn to do one thing with one aircraft, then learn to do the same in others as well. It works better for me not to get too obsessed with one aircraft at a time, better counterpoint to work I guess. I admit it's not the most effective method but suits me. It look like everyone think that EDGE = NTTR and that both will be release in the same time... Don't you remember that http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=129972 ? I don't even think that this map can work without EDGE since its build for it, and since NTTR will be release for December, their is IMHO a change to see EDGE just after the 1.2.11 So EDGE/DCS 2.0 maybe will come end November/early December i think ! The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics are pleased to announce that DCS: Strait of Hormuz map will be coming to DCS World in the winter of 2014. This will be the first, new combat theatre maps for DCS World 2! But of course it is just what i think ! By the way very nice newletter, thanks ED ! Even bits of news used to be huge thing, now that it's getting close it does not have same impact. No. More like "we will attempt to release before EOY". As much as I would like to hope for best I don't see 2.0 happening this year. Lots of unexpected stuff come up during testing phase. It has to!!!:huh: If EDGE is rendering the images (even the old map) the work load is decreased. It has to help FPS. but if U mean image quality, then most likely correct. I read a thread indicating the graphics were lowered to allow better fraps. Had to do with the level of Polygons used to draw the image to the screen. It mentioned the levels in DCS were equal to a 3D movie. So here is hoping that edge will allow the increased level of polygons that will surely add to image quality. That statement referred to the Jets in DCS. I don't know if buildings and trees, bushes and such had high levels that were dumbed down for FPS purposes. Hopefully so. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig. The new modules releasing sound pretty nice especially the Su-27, but we're coming to the end of another year and it looks like EDGE may slip again. Like most here a new environment or face lift is much needed. Oh well, the wait continues. :helpsmilie: You guys should be pumped that NTTR is now in DCS in testing... that is a huge milestone for EDGE. Not sure I can stress that enough... You guys said it. I already bought the 109 K and the L39 Albatros, but for me EDGE and the SU 27 are the main thing I´m waiting for. The rest can wait to the EDGE is out in my humble opinion. Gut feeling too and lets admit it, a huge amount of work goes into creating all that wonderful so i am one for paying for it. The news concerning EDGE isn't very encouraging in that it won't be ready by November or December (according the first paragraph of the newsletter). Training aircraft aren't going to be very useful in combat missions so that isn't doing much for me. I would have rather seen a NATO aircraft capable of SEAD missions released.....but that's for another thread. I do apresiate their busting, and knowing what it takes to build software I have atmost respect for the end product that I'm seeing. I know I wouldn't be able to drive that train any faster, and I know there are always unexpected things as simple as people getting sick that are not accounted for. That's besides the fact that with such complex product many underwater rocks surely exist. Hence as much as id like to I don't see it this year. Which is not end of the world either. Anton.
