S-GERAT Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Actually I have a logitech g940, I love the force feedback and after repair the throttle wiring never have any other issues with it, but after months viewing reviews of the warthog I'm at the EDGE  of buying one. I am looking for more precision, better touch and look. My doubts come when I start to think about how long it's on the market, the lack of spare parts and the possibility of the launch of a hornet hotas next year. What do you think mates ? Should wait for something new or order a Warthog ? :helpsmilie:
Charly_Owl Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) I have the Warthog and I could never go back to any other stick. It's just that good. There is no force feedback on the Warthog, but I can live without it just for the firm, stable metal grip this stick provides. It was a must-buy for me, and 2 years later I still have zero issue with it. a1adin Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I have a very bad experience with tm warthog, so if you ask me, I say don't ever buy anything with thrustmaster brand on it.
S-GERAT Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 I know it's the best hotas with difference at the market, with the best materials and design, but my fear comes for the support they can provide actually, and the launch of a new hotas from them . I had thrustmaster products in the past and I no had any problem with them, but if they have run out of spare parts and stop providing warranty services that's a serious problem for us. At least in my case I'm going to have two years of warranty from the shop, so if thrustmaster leave me without support the shop should replace my hotas for another one or refund the money. Because the support they gave to you a1adin is a shame. I can't trust in them reading these things.

Berndt Mangler Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Be advised; TM has no parts for the warthog If new sticks are assembled today they are using up inventory of broken parts, with no intention to make more. buy it new today.....Nop, find or make parts for it since I already have one....Yup. I've been trying to get a FAT black MAMBA, but these are no longer made, I'd be in the same boat had I bought one 2yr ago, ...or would I??? For what ever reason TM WartHog is still the best out there. We must face it, there's just no money in this. Get an aircraft with a steering wheel, and we have options. Yup, I'm a little pissed off about it and if you read this whole thing, Thanks and remove the white centering ring an inspect the Pressure Cap for me. Gladman Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 In your position I'd buy a X55 setup and wait for the new TM gear. No parts is not a good thing considering the amount of issues you can read about on this site alone. I've had TM before and they did break. They're all cheap plastic on the inside. pyromaniac4002 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Mine's still running strong after several years, so at the least I don't think the build quality is any worse than anything the competition has to offer. If it were me, I think I would be more inclined to wait and see what they have coming out to replace it. Buying used, you can never really be sure what kind of condition you're going to get it in. If you do manage to get a good one, I'm sure you won't regret it. I've never dealt with the customer support and I don't doubt the horror stories on here, but it seems to me you'd have to be quite unlucky to actually have something break. Chances are you'll be just fine for a long time to come.
Tricky11 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Yes get the warthog. There will always be people saying they break easy and stuff and use cheap plastics but you get the same with every product out there. If you look after it it will look after you. Simple as that really. Also where are these people getting this info from? I am sure thrustmaster would not tell anyone they were building stick with broken parts even if they were?? Just seems a bit daft to me. I also own a thrustmaster t500rs wheel and pedals and have been using them for over a year and not a problem with it.. Thrustmaster all the way
tommytank Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I've had customer service issues (see earlier posts/threads), but I'd still say get one.

Thrustmaster all the way I'm getting it from personal experience. I had the Cougars and although I thoroughly enjoyed using them they did break and it was a cheap plastic part that went. I'd buy TM's again but with the understanding they are no higher quality than CH or Saitek and will cost twice as much. I do like them but they are not higher quality. They are not higher quality. The reason they are more expensive is they have more buttons and switches..
Rudel_chw Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I've a Thrustmaster Cougar (the previous Hotas, bought it on 2002) ... It's broken twice on 2012 and 2014 (the metal gimbals, once the X axis, the next time it was the Y axis) and both times Guillemot has sold me new gimbals .. I've also purchased from them the potentiometers. It seems odd to me that they have spares for a 10 year old Hotas but can't do the same for the newer model ... ¿are you really sure that they don't have spares? Eduardo. Witchking Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I love mine and I bought mine at Bestbuy, so I had no issues with service when I sent my throttle in for repair. It came back and works awesome. To this day, the micromouse thingy on the throttle bothers me and I hate it...but in terms of the stick, it is bar none..the best. I will be waiting to buy the F-18 HOTAS if thrustmaster does end up making one. Should wait for something new or order a Warthog ? :helpsmilie: Or you could go one step further :) I have a hog setup, but then with a MSFF2 stick with a CH Fighterstick handle grafted on fully working as CH intended....so I have exactly the same full functionality as the hog stick (bar one button) but with FFB deluxe :D FWIW I have the 940, a refurbed brand new one, the hog ,and the Hog is leagues ahead in terms of feel, but then the MSFF2 is leagues ahead in terms of feel when it comes to the FFB delivery compared to the 940 as well. Keeping the 940 as a backup stick for when I run out of MSFF2 parts, even tho I have never had to replace a single thing in years :music_whistling: For me I have the ultimate setup now, so all IMHO.
S-GERAT Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 Thanks for all the opinions guys, I understand the risks, but from long time ago I have the desire of buy this HOTAS and when I think about the release of a new one from Thustmaster ( let be clear here, Logitech is out of the market now, CH have very good but outdated models, and the x-55 released recently makes a new HOTAS from Saitek soon unthinkable ) eat my nails, because the Cougar was in the market a lot of years before Warthog was put on sale. Maybe we get a HOTAS Hornet next year, or maybe the Warthog still on market a long time, and as many time I spend thinking about this it comes worse. So I'm going to take the risk and order a new Hotas Warthog, if I have problems with it and they release a new Hotas soon probably I can make a deal with the shop in order to change it for the new paying the difference. And if it works well probably my mind will be thinking about buying other expensive ( and useless for my WAT ) and beauty things for this hobby, so I will be happy for a while. I forget to say that I'm willing to continue using my 940 to play helos and older planes and use their pedals to fly with the Warthog. Sorry for my English if I make some mistakes, but isn't my native language and thanks again to everyone. :pilotfly:

Plastic guts hate, scripted programming love. When you calibrate it, try not to get that extreme edge, just go till you barely feel the end. There is no gate to stop over travel. We really never get to the edges that will stress the Gimbals nor the Pressure Cap when we fly normally. Only when we calibrate, just don't over do it, best to go not enough than too far. Art-J Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Whenever TM Hornet comes, one has to remember the beginning of the Warthog saga, when first production batches of it were "famous" for throttle units going tits up during first months of usage. It did take a while before TM improved both hard- and software. So - I'd suggets not being in hurry to buy Hornet immediately after release, unless you want and can afford being a Guinea pig for their new, pricey product, of course. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

S-GERAT Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 I received them at friday, and I was very impressed with them. While expecting more quality compared with my 940, when touch them I noticed that the build quality is a lot better than expected, the stick seems of a real plane ! And after using them during the weekend I love them, the precision of the stick is a thousand times better than the 940, and the feel on the buttons is amazing. Hope it works fine for some years, at least I tested them and seems perfect for now, and without software-drivers issues. :joystick::thumbup:
