DCS World 1.2.14 Discussion

Is the open beta supposed to update right now? My installation seems to hesitate... even if I use manual update from menu.

I'd pay for campaigns, even if they're simply a string of well put together SP missions (they wouldn't even need fancy cut scenes or voice acting, although would happily pay more for these); gives you something to do and certainly better than the disappointing Quick Mission builder.

I don't think there is a capability for cut scenes right now anyways... but voice acting would always be good.

The pay campaigns are a good idea. The problem is they get broken and need to be constantly updated as DCS is updated.

 

Just ask any respected builder, or read the threads already out there on the subject.

Of course my main aim is not criticize great work of ED and developers, but there were more important bugs to fix rather than A-10C Ready light. I know these fixes are essential and necessary too, though...

 

I wonder how this job is done? We've got bad bugs in latest (v.1.2.12) update, and personally I was expecting some fix for one or two of them!

IMHO that is exactly the issue that is being targeted at. Now being paid, the mission builders will have incentive to keep the missions updated as new DCS patches are being released. Nice move from ED.

A guarantee of support for a certain amount of time (from the mission seller), or lack of such, would significantly affect my willingness to purchase.

While it may be disappointing that some bugs aren't fixed on each patch , I can remember a time when auto updating was not a part of DCS and all the modules were separate large downloads that included the whole world.

 

With the introduction of a separate DCS world and then all the modules as plugins, followed by the automatic update system I think they did a heck of a job unraveling all the spaghetti.

 

At least now small patches are frequent and possible without much hassle for the user.

 

With Edge coming online I can live with a flicker on the runway for a while. If edge comes soon enough I could care less if they fix the minor bugs in the current world.

Not to take anything away from that accomplishment but 'all the modules', at that time, equaled a total of two.

It's already December 18th in my country.

I installed this Update/Patch this morning and flew the Huey for a couple hours.

 

This afternoon I went to check out some things and discovered that my Module Manager wanted me to Install practically every Mod ... that I already have installed.

I couldn't move past the Available Mods tab until I said Okay to Install a pile of mods even though once clicking that and starting those downloads, I could see ALL my Mods in the last Tab where you can get your Serial Key #.

 

I haven't gone online yet, but I hope this won't require me to use another User Key (one of the limited Installs) ??

I don't get it ? Why did I have to Update and/or Install so much for such a little patch ?

Is this going to completely screw things over for me ... again :?

 

EDIT: Okay I bit the bullet and logged into the Multiplayer Servers and I did NOT get any Prompt to Register Serial Keys .... so that's a good thing. One huge worry eliminated.

But I'm still curious why all the Installs ?

But I should point out that when in DCS World, I look at the Bottom Right Corner and it says my Version is 1.2.12.35194 ? That doesn't sound or look anything like 1.2.14 !!!!!

How did you install something that hasn't been released yet?
