There is slim-to-no chance of a DCS-F-18C release this Christmas. Maybe, in another universe, an F-18C for DCS.

 

There's no reason to anticipate DCS F-18c prior to DCS 2.0. No it does not require 2.0, I just don't see any reason to expect anything else.

 

I would gladly post a YouTube video of me eating my hat if I am proven wrong.

Absolutely: that was the last good Hornet sim we had and it is hideously dated now. The desperation for a Hornet sim has one online group still flying that too.
