In the mid-to late 90's all Navy Tomcats were given an air to ground capability. Here's a VF-14 F-14A.

Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.

I would prefer an F-14A, but I agree that a bit of bombing ability would be nice to have too. So the upgraded A's would be the best compromise. The reason I'd prefer the A is for historical reasons. It saw the most action with the USN and was the only one to be exported.

F-14 vs Mig-23 please.

Already happened in Lock on nearly a decade ago.

Anyway I would be for whatever version, its still F-14 = Awesome.

Reading, yes it seems the A and B both had bombing capability added. I see the bomb in the plane in the pic obviously, but I have no idea how to tell an A from a B visually. Well, ya so I don't care about the letter. It would just be nice to do those fly in, strategic strike missions and either have to fight your way in or out, all in one A-A and A-G for a couple or few people type missions. Same reason I want the F/A-18C. I dont fly with big groups, so having to have enough people to have both F-15's and A-10C's is a bit much of a requirement most of the time, so missions end up A-A or A-G.

The exhaust nozzles on the A are shorter and taper in more because of the B's uprated engines. That's how I tell. :)

Thanks for the hint! Every new module is an education.

A and B doesn't have a glass for head up display (HUD) only the D version. The hud is directly project on front window, so you can see a green part on front window on A and B version.

Another thing the SuperTomcat (D) is the only one who has a double sensor just below the nose !

Sorry for my english ;)

Seeing that image again i'd say : F4U (hopefully not birdcage), F-14 (no matter which version it's instant buy) and probably A6M.

But i still hope for a MiG-23. :)
