This one's not in the film, but I feel like it fits the "feel" of 80's air combat perfectly.

I will definitely be making videos of the Tomcat and Hornet with this song.

Sounds like its 1 note off of ArmA 3's theme, but it would make good combat footage music.

I like it!

what is release time F-14 for DCS world?

It is a very complicated aircraft to make. You not only have the pilot systems but also the RIO (RADAR Intercept Officer) systems to make. And they have to work together.

I'd rather wait and let them get it right than have a busted Tomcat SIM. My W.A.G. (Wild Ass Guess) is maybe Dec 2016 or Spring 2017. The NATOPS for this plane is over 1000 pages long.

I offered to put them in contact with areal F-14A & B pilot. His was my Division Officer back when I was in VF-32. I hope they respond soon.

Don't be lazy. Leatherneck has a awesome website with lots of infos for the Tomcat:

http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/f14/

On the bottom is a Dev Schedule with some dates for milestones (beta).

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Isn't there a pre-sale/beta for every DCS Module? So I would assume there will be one for this module as well.

I honestly don't get the point of "pre-sales" why not just "on sale" when the planes are good and ready? Why all this rush to get money now? No it's not your money (it will be yours eventually) and you can't get it now!!! I love LN and the MiG-21 but the actions of the other devs have left a sour taste in my mouth... From now on I will only buy planes after they have been thoroughly reviewed.

P.S. I Still feel the need for speed!

No one is forced to pre-buy a module, by all means if you are more comfortable waiting, then wait. Same goes with people that get upset with beta releases. I like having my aircraft purchased and ready to go, I dont have to worry about the module dropping mid pat period and having to wait a week or so before I can get it.

Just wondering, is it likely that the AIM-54 will be effectively outlawed in multiplayer?

I know some servers already allow only R-27R/AIM-7.

aim 54 is super easy to dodge so i doubt it

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but there is in fact not a whole lot of data on the Aim-54 and it's actual performance in the field.

Because if that's the case the fact that only the tomcat ever used it, and the Aim-120 has replaced it in fleet defense, even though it has less range, to me seems like the phoenix is not very relevant in today's battlefield against complex Jammers and CMs.

Well it's main advantage is that it forces you to dodge, bleed speed/altitude etc., so the F-14 can line up a nice juicy AIM-7 to finish you off if necessary and if there is more than one F-14 coming after you...

The F-14 was expensive and with the end of the cold war, the budget just simply couldn't be justified, along with the AIM-54 being just a single platform weapon, so its future was tied to it.

Also considering modern conflicts involving the West, they almost always involve opposing nations which have inferior air forces, so you don't need the extended range.
