The plume in the screenshot is being masked by the bright background though. That comparison is not fair. Completely different conditions in the screenshot and the picture.

Brisse,

That's why I said "The screenshot below is poor, but sort of gets the point across:"

I'm not on my DCS PC so had to grab a screen from the forum. If you compared a better screenshot to the photo, you would see what I mean.

80+fps flying in the blank North-East corner of the map

And I actually found that I can run at 60 F/S capped instead of 30 - and that with a full battle raging around me! I see an occasional small glitch here and there, but nothing show-stopping by any means. Kudos ED, you've done an excellent job with v1.5

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Ok so I need some more help. So after seeing so many users posting talking about 60-90-120 FPS I asked how to can I see what my FPS are (new to PC gaming).

When I display my FPS in 1.5 the number fluctuates in the range of 8-9-10 on high settings. Then I adjusted to medium and then low; same 8-9-10 range. I was trying to see if I could get at least 60.

Is the numbers I'm seeing 8-9-10 representative of FPS/10? And I'm actually getting 80-90-100 FPS? I ask because the new performance is great on high settings, but my FPS counter is misleading.

Something else is going on. You are using the LCtrl+Pause button correct?

Yes, I hold down LCtrl then tap Pause.

I get like three or four lines in yellow on the top left of the screen; the top line is the FPS. If I LCtrl+pause again it gives me much more information and I feel like I'm looking into the Matrix. After a third tap all the info goes away.

It's confusing because I assume that 9 or 10 FPS would be horrible, but I can taxi around in high traffic and not notice a difference like in 1.2. Even tested fast and low through the mountains with no noticeable lag.

Yes, I know why, and I have answered the same question multiple times.

Apologies

Did'nt see any posts about it and there was no notification on the main website.

Uploaded beta on my Steam version until full release.

Thanks ED, great job:thumbup:

Well, I have no HOTAS at the moment but I've been checking in here now and then and I have to say I'm very disappointed!

Reason being, I have to now spend money and buy a joystick.

DCS really is starting to look superb. It's taken a long time and a lot of patience from the fans I see posting regularly, and the community looks to have grown considerably and has a great vibe to it.

Congrats ED. Keep up the good work. I'll have to slowly get back into this, and find time to do so!

Uh! Interceptor was my favourite game at that time. Played it so much I could intercept the enemy and fly upside down cockpit to cockpit few meters apart. :pilotfly:

I only have played DCS a few hours. I tried with my Oculus DK2 long time ago, but neither was ready at that time. Now I'm getting ready for 2.0 and Oculus CV1 and I'm sure this combination will be so jaw dropping awesome.

VR is how sims like this should be experienced in. I wan't to sit/fly in my F18, cockpit to cockpit upside down and feel like I'm really there. It will be EPIC!

Hello, is there any timeline of when 1.5 gets to public version? I ask because bad bandwidth and little space on hard drive to have it installed 2 times

Hahaha, i was also remembering F/A18 Interceptor, coincidently i made a small homeage to it in screenshots thread .... http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2509443&postcount=11660

Just did a little stress test. 300 BMP-2s (15 groups of 20) just moving between 2 waypoints. At normal time, both 1.2.16 and 1.5 were smooth. In 1.2.16, at 4x acceleration, things started to really choke up. In 1.5, things didn't start to really choke until 7x acceleration. Pretty good improvement.

fyi, I just have a modest system. 3.6 GHz i7 3820, 16 GB RAM, GTX 680

Checking out 1.5

It had been a little while since I flew any modules in DCS. The upcoming 2.0 and the anticipation of Edge kind of kept me away. I guess I am kind of like a kid waiting for a new toy. Don't want to play with the old one any more because I know that the new one is coming soon. And in fact....I can feel it in my bones.

Also in anticipation, I went out and got better hardware, a 27" monitor, ordered Trackir, and am looking to upgrade my video card. SO I am on my way to becoming a serious simmer. My wife is about to kill me $o I am sure that this is a sign that I am getting into deep waters.

Anyway! I started into 1.5 with the simplest plane for me, the F86, and then went to the P51, Huey, Mi8, CA, and have not bothered to dive into the other stuff I have.

I must say that thus far I am very pleased, blown away is more appropriate. The F86 improved by leaps and bounds! It has a few minor weird things (flaps and hydraulics are a little quirky) but it's not a real problem and I know it's probably being addressed. The Mustang is just great, as are the two rotocraft.

I have a few questions though. Maybe some of you have had similar experiences so I want to toss em out there.

I posted about the non full screen issue already and was offered a temporary solution until they get it fixed. I know that I can just hit Alt + Enter to get the full screen mode, however. When I do and the screen goes full, my darn mouse is still calibrated for the non full screen. So the cursor is off by whatever the ratio of full to non full is. It's kind of funny to try and get out of the sim using the mouse because I have to fiddle with it until it highlights the EXIT tab to get me out. But!!! When I go back into the sim, it usually goes into full screen. I know this will get fixed soon but was just wondering if the mouse issue was something others are experiencing.

When I use my mouse to operate switches and buttons in the cockpit, the aid label that pops up after a few seconds for whatever control I am operating activates and it sticks around no matter what I do until I hit another switch. Again....I'm just wondering if this is something that anyone else is experiencing.

As I scrolled through the Bugs and Problems section, I could relate to a number of other buggy things that we all deal with while they get this thing up to snuff. :pilotfly:All in all though, I have to say that these guys have done a stellar job and I am very thankful for their efforts. I will be very glad to continue to support ED and all of their affiliated vendors.

I also flew on line for the first time this morning and cannot say enough about it. It has some bugs but who cares! Its great!

I was wondering though. The servers have better graphics than my single player. Is there any reason for this. I thought that you pretty much saw everything the same off or on the internet due to your personal settings. Also, is there a way to take that little envelope off of the screen. I tried to check where the messages were located but couldn't find it.

I have to say one more time how I appreciate what all of you guys at ED and your vendors are doing. You have truly created the best flight sim out there today. I don't bother with any of my other sims any more. They just don't hold a candle to DCS.

THANX GUYS!!!!!:music_whistling::music_whistling::music_whistling:

Oh....I'll just tack this question on to save from creating another thread, even though it really doesn't belong here. Why is it that when I log on to the forums, I get auto logged off if I post kind of a lengthy thread or reply? When I respond to someone or post anything that takes more than a few minutes to type up, I get logged out and have to tog back in to post. It is happening right now, even though I see at the top of the page it has my name as logged in already. Is there a way to prevent this?

Make sure you hit the "remember login" checkbox (or whatever it's called) when login in.

I'm not certain about multiplayer, haven't partaken in said activity in a long time with DCS, but my SP graphics cranked, with DoF turned off, looks photo real. The water is sooo much better too - again, photo realistic. A really nice step forward with the graphics in 1.5.

So check your settings in the graphics tab - do yourself a favor and turn off DoF (Depth-of-Field). It just makes the image look blurry and smudged.

Have fun and good luck!
