hughlb Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Hi guys, I'm looking to purchase a complex aircraft module, like the A-10C, with its many systems modelled and clickable cockpit, detailed flight model etc. Problem is, I'm not really into the A-10; more into the fast-movers. My understanding is that there are two (or soon to be two options), the Mig-21 and the Mirage 2000c. I would love the Hornet, but it's obviously needing more time. In terms of the quality and detail of the module, is the Mirage on par with the Mig? I'm also looking for a flight model as brilliantly detailed as the F-15 and Su-27, do/will both the Mirage and Mig offer that complexity? (I'd love to get both, but I can only learn one at a time!) Thanks. | Windows 10 | I7 4790K @ 4.4ghz | Asus PG348Q | Asus Strix 1080TI | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 2400 DDR3 | Asrock Fatal1ty Z97 | Samsung EVO 850 500GB (x2) | SanDisk 240GB Extreme Pro | Coolermaster Vanguard S 650Watt 80+ | Fractal Design R4 | VirPil T-50 | MFG Crosswind Graphite | KW-908 JetSeat Sim Edition | TrackIR 5 | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kelevra9987 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I can only say that the Mig-21 is easy to learn but very hard to master. For the Mirage, I don't know but I think/hope that it'll have the same fidelity as the Mig has. If you have the Money, take both of em. If not, then I'd take the 21 but it will suffer in the Modern Arena against Su-27/Mig-29/F-15. The Mirage on the other hand does have true BVR capability and could fight against the more modern fast movers. Cheers... Abburo Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Hard to answer to this. Mig21 is already here and is known as a milestone in flight simulation and even in DCS. Mirage have to came to prove it, even Razbam is a well known aircraft producer. Wait a bit longer to see the reviews and until then buy Su27/F15C to enjoy fast movers at lower prices. King_Hrothgar Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 DCS: Mirage 2000C RDI claims to have a high fidelity flight model and advanced systems modeling similar to what the A-10C has. However, it hasn't been released yet, so that's just the advertisement. Only those connected to the project know exactly what it does and does not have. The MiG-21Bis has been out for over a year now and I've had it nearly the whole time. Its flight model falls a little short of ED's and BST's PFM's, but it is pretty decent still. It's Certainly better than the SFM/AFM used by many FC3 aircraft as well as the Hawk and C-101. In terms of complexity, the aircraft is simple from a technical standpoint but difficult to use. The radar and weapons are finicky while the plane itself unforgiving. It certainly takes some time to master.
USAFMTL Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 M2000 can run the Mig-21 into the dirt 99.99999% of the time. So can the F-4, ask Gen Olds. [sigpic][/sigpic] US Air Force Retired, 1C371 No rank or title will ever be as important as the unit patch you wear.
OnlyforDCS Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Depends on what you want from a plane/module. The Mig21 has one of the best flight models in the game, an actual Mig21 pilot actually built it, and the system modeling in it is par to none. It is a scary and thrilling ride but it takes some seriously creative flying to be much of a threat in the sky, compared to the mode modern fighters. As for the M2000C well it's not out yet so it's not really fair for us to judge it one way or the other. It should definitely be the more capable plane, however if fidelity is your thing, the devs have already stated that it won't feature 100% systems from reality, as they don't have access to all of them. Some of them will be guesswork. As for its EFM it will feature one from it's open beta, and apparently it's already quite advanced. StalkerM Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 i think nobody can adress your question precisely at this time since nobody knows anything about razbam's M2000 but rumors. The best option is to wait for the release and then you can decide based on reviews! :P
theGozr Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Get both.. wont regret.. Fly it like you stole it..
Drona Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 You can practically end a war with the MiG-21. It has the nukes!!! You can blow up an entire city with it in on one pass. I rest my case. :smartass::pilotfly:
WinterH Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 This question can not be answered yet since Mirage isn't released currently. It is stated to have detailed systems and flight modeling, but we haven't yet seen the results. MiG is out there, and is one of the best modules, the best according to many. Personally, it is my favorite module. That said, capabilities of the planes are obviously very different, if you are of the "I wantz to win everythingz" type, than Mirage is obviously the more advantageous of the two :). hughlb Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 Thanks for your quick responses, guys :) I must admit, if the Mirage was out and equally well regarded by the community, I'd get that first, simply because of how it squares up with 4th Generation fighters, especially in BVR, as Kelevra9987 points out. It will compliment the Hornet and F-14 when they are released. There is that uncertainty about the state of the, albeit high fidelity FM, at least in the Beta release, as well as just how in depth the systems are. It's quite a lot of money, well for me anyway :) | Windows 10 | I7 4790K @ 4.4ghz | Asus PG348Q | Asus Strix 1080TI | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 2400 DDR3 | Asrock Fatal1ty Z97 | Samsung EVO 850 500GB (x2) | SanDisk 240GB Extreme Pro | Coolermaster Vanguard S 650Watt 80+ | Fractal Design R4 | VirPil T-50 | MFG Crosswind Graphite | KW-908 JetSeat Sim Edition | TrackIR 5 | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Para_Bellum Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Get both. The Mig-21 in DCS is an absolute masterpiece, can't praise it too much. It's systems are fairly simple compared to newer AC but flying and fighting the Mig is incredibly rewarding. I've also pre-ordered the Mirage but since it's not released yet we can pretty much only speculate on its quality. I do have high hopes for it but we'll see.
hughlb Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 Purchased the Mig-21 with no regrets :) I figure I'll wait and see how the Mirage pans out; I'm sure it will be excellent. hughlb Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 I only have DCS 2.0, and noticed the MiG isnt working presently. I saw there was some mention of a hotfix about five or six days ago.. Anyone have a solution yet? | Windows 10 | I7 4790K @ 4.4ghz | Asus PG348Q | Asus Strix 1080TI | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 2400 DDR3 | Asrock Fatal1ty Z97 | Samsung EVO 850 500GB (x2) | SanDisk 240GB Extreme Pro | Coolermaster Vanguard S 650Watt 80+ | Fractal Design R4 | VirPil T-50 | MFG Crosswind Graphite | KW-908 JetSeat Sim Edition | TrackIR 5 | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
OnlyforDCS Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 An update for DCS Alpha 2.0 is coming this week. I think the hotfix will be included in that. I still recommend you install the 1.5 version, as all the training modules for all aircraft work only on the caucass map, which is not yet integrated with 2.0 Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
Kev2go Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 (edited) it depends if you like old school or newer generation aircraft. Personally id get both, because mig21 is still fun to mess around with. However if you only had to get one of the two. I would recommend the mirage 2000c. Because at least the m2000c will be able compete with fighters of its class ; the 4th generation atm the mig21 has no comparable adversary from a similar era in DCS. IT can only fight itself. It obviously really not much of a match for aircraft a generation ahead of it. Belsimtek is creating an F5E which will make for a competitive match against the mig21, but who knows when that will be ready. the Mirage 2000 is already in pre order & going to be released very soonish at some point this month. Flogger23m Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 If I had the option between the two I would take the Mirage 2000C any day. More modern air frame. But the MIG-21 is released now, and it is overall high in quality.
