mvsgas Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 October 1986? Does that book even apply to the versions RAZBAM is building? To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
iLOVEwindmills Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 It also suggests 2 additional hardpoints possible when strakes fitted, so an ITER rack on centerline with just the left and right position used?
Tilly-B Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Point is, it can take a 500lb bomb on the outer wing pylon, which means Mk82 or GBU38 But would you take the extra bombs in practice? Or go with sidewinders for self defence?

Or go with sidewinders for self defence? If you have decent CAP my suggestion would be the extra bombs. However you have to take into account where you are taking off and landing plus the ordinance limitations. Personally if I'm flying with another harrier or three I'd just take the sidewinders just incase Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. -Zero- Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Can i load 2 AIM-9 in just one Pylon like the A-10? Or it always needs one AIM-9 per pylon ? Tilly-B Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Can i load 2 AIM-9 in just one Pylon like the A-10? Or it always needs one AIM-9 per pylon ? I've only ever seen British Harriers carrying twin missile racks, and I dont think it was ever common But if anyone knows different, I'd be glad to be corrected. Double the AIM-9s is always a plus ;P
joey45 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Was that on the fighter version?? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. iLOVEwindmills Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 (edited) Sea harriers do have that option, I've never seen it on an AV8 and its not on that loadout list either. And AIM120 on the gun stations. Btw, is there any particular reason the FA2 would not be possible at some point? Does it have more restricted stuff than the ones that are planned? First picture is Sea Harrier FRS1 with Blue Fox radar. The second one is Sea Harrier FA2 with Blue Vixen radar, designed to work with AIM-120. Good luck to find good data about Blue Vixen... And it would be easier for the team to go from Night Attack to Harrier II+ with APG-65 (once AG radar SDK is available to 3rd party dev) than to make a completely new aircraft.:smilewink: Mirage fanatic ! joey45 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 The closet we'll get is if I paint the av8 with the radar with FAA colours.. iLOVEwindmills Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 FA2 is very pretty, but yeah they do need to get around to making that A7 at some point.
Tilly-B Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Did the US Navy/ USMC use twin sidewinder rails at all? I'm sure I've seen F18s carrying twin sidewinders/AMRAAMs before, so in theory they could be used on the AV8B?

drPhibes Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Here's a real-world example of FLIR on the HUD of a F-15E: I assume that some kind of color filter will be used for the correct green monochromatic look in the final version of the Harrier. amalahama Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Well the image needs to be half transparent, but it's an start! Regards
Cunctator Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 FLIR on HUD already looked pretty convincing in RAZBAMs FSX Harrier (especially considering that FSX wasn't designed for this kind of tech). I have no doubt the final realization in DCS will be great.
Torso Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 (edited) I see in the pic of the real one the image is scaled to fill the entire HUD. Currently the wip image of it looks scaled to the size of the MFD screen(could just be perspective of course). I wonder if in final version it will scale to each accordingly like it appears it is doing in the RL image. Either way, freakin cool and thank you Razbam for sharing. Your PR has really been fantastic lately. Thank you for that. It is really appreciated. Edited February 21, 2017 by Torso
