Yurgon Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Could a temporary expedient be to reduce the noisemax value for the TGP display only? Is this possible? Interesting idea. I don't think so, but maybe some DCS or Lua wizard knows more about it.
JazonXD Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 How to spot targets with TGP? Literally... I can't see anything in the TGP with all the ground clutter that they have added with the new engine. Switching it to FLIR seems to make it even worse... I literally called JTAC for tasking to send the data directly to my plane so I can hook it onto my TGP but even if I slave the tgp directly onto the target I can't even see it! Any tips on finding the targets? I'll have to pray that there's going to be a fix at some point. Thanks. StandingCow Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 It's a known... what I assume to be bug with the most recent engine, although for some reason the bug reports were moved to wishlist, but at least ED is aware of it. So, you aren't alone, everyone is having the same issue. For me the A-10 is pretty unplayable for TGP required missions... it's one reason I am holding off on the enemy within campaign. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
Cik Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 what might be worth trying is using JTAC with a laser pointer so, use the SPI they send you to get pretty close and then use laser search to find a pinpoint, then simply employ directly onto that point with whatever you have. in the early versions of 1.5 there was the model enlargement setting that made visual CAS a possibility but it was mostly removed unfortunately. not sure exactly how to do it but you can still enable it in the config of missions themselves i believe. maybe give that try if you really can't get the TGP to work.
Yurgon Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 If you're okay with editing text files inside your DCS installation directory, this semi-fix might help for the time being: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2620174&postcount=70 Good luck, guys! For me, that workaround made "The Enemy Within" playable and enjoyable again.
JazonXD Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Yurgon thank you for the post! I think I'll be using that until ED does something with the next update. There are still quite a few things they need to do though IMO. 1 AMD 5600X -- Gigabyte RTX 3070 Vision -- 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 -- HP Reverb G2 -- Logitech 3D Extreme Pro -- Thrustmaster TWCS BRRRT! thomasleecht Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 DCS 1.5 A10C TGP issue --please FIX THIS It has been very difficult to find targets through TGP of the A10C in DCS 1.5. Ground textures and clutter are too heavy under TGP view, and they even show up a lot in WHOT and BHOT mode, blending the enemy targets with the ground. It is impossible to find targets like this. ED please fix this!
Shaman Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Yes, same issue. They must change how TGP renders all these units and backgrounding ground textures, as there is no heat glow from units at all. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
thomasleecht Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Yes, same issue. They must change how TGP renders all these units and backgrounding ground textures, as there is no heat glow from units at all. Right. I suppose those grass and bushes don't give out much heat. There should be a big contrast between vehicles and the ground in WHOT/BHOT mode, like in DCS 1.2.

EntropySG Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 ok after we used the stable version 1.2 of DCS we just now upgraded to DCS 1.5 since it it officially out of beta now. I just did a flight and check if everything is working. I can 100% confirm what others have reported you cant see SHIT in the TGP using FLIR mode. I literally cant find a target unless I know 100% where it is. This has been working very nicely in 1.2. I never complained about anything but now 1.5 is out of beta. This is a real pain in the ass and I dont understand how this beta version can be pushed to a stable release when one of the most critical systems in an aircraft like the A10 is almost useless due to errors in the graphics engine. Im not happy about this at all [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BaconSarnie Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Sadly this thread will be merged with the others on this subject into the "wish-list" thread, which is utterly preposterous. This is a very real issue and needs addressing, as someone who is primarily a Hog driver, as my sig shows, having a fully operational TGP is essential. And lo, Reverend Vegas did say "Take forth unto the infidel the mighty GAU 8 and expend its holy 30MM so that freedom will be brung upon them who knoweth not the joys of BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTT" "Amen"
Capn kamikaze Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 It's just dumb at the moment you'll find it easier to spot targets 20 miles away than 2 miles.
Mike77 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Could a temporary expedient be to reduce the noisemax value for the TGP display only? Is this possible? That would be awesome. Belisarius Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 You guys are all lucky, my mfcds and cdu display are blank and I have a constant stall alarm since upgrading 1.2 to 1.5. ....luckily there's m2000 to distract me for now.

Yeah 1.5 seem to be riddled with bugs right now... Today I saw a maverick fired by ai literally flying up into the sky and then doing UPS AND DOWN UP AND DOWNS until it was about 140kn then it just exploded. I literally had no idea. Why. Just why. Shez Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I've watched some Targeting pod vids on youtube and it looks like finding targets would actually be a chore depending on the enviorment. Dessert looks easier but the target is still a blurry mess. It's horrible at the moment. I did a night time mission and spent 30 minutes circling a target area trying to find the tanks I had to kill... ended up giving up. This really is a critical bug imho... the TGP is very important in the A-10. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
kobac Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I totally agree with you, it is very difficult to see an armored&mechanized units in this terrain and with this camouflage colors. ED please change - fix the targets visibility. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...
baltic_dragon Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Hey guys, In the wish list thread Lilkiki posted what I think might be a good workaround. I used Barthek's textures before and they look great - now they are updated for 1.5. Will try that myself once I get home from holidays  Hi guys, also noticed this problem with TGP/IR, I suggest to use the Bartek's texture mod. This mod gives the best results regarding the lack of FLIR rendering. see : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=132444 For more information, please visit my website. will- Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 What about the FOV? I find incrediabitly hard to spot any target below me with such a narrow FOV. Marking targets now from a far seems to always be off target also, so I've learned you can see tanks, etc by looking for a glimmer in the image.
