Frusheen Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 With the Orion update, hand tracking has really improved: https://www.youtube.com/embed/rnlCGw-0R8g?autoplay=1 Thanks but I don't trust their own videos. smirkza Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks but I don't trust their own videos. The videos provided before Orion were nothing like what people actually experienced. I'm skeptical as a result. I have just ordered a 2nd Hand Leap Motion, so will see how it works with the DK2. Obviously there is currently no integration with DCS - but fingers crossed they can get it slotted in nicely. Just need some sort of haptic response for when the finger tip makes contact with the switch/knob and virtual arms to link to the virtual hands and voila, a top notch sim experience. On paper anyway - I'll let you know how it feels and responds to actual use. Cheers, Smirkza

I watched a video recently on gloveone which shows it is actually tracked using leap motion. I had previously thought it was a standalone product. If it's using the leap SDK it may provide the haptic solution we need. Provided leap is any good of course. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051

Ah well, as soon as it comes in I'll do a review... Cheers, Smirkza

Frusheen Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 are you saying v2 software wise, or hardware wise? I took it to mean hardware based on what he said in the video. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
bxlplk Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I took it to mean hardware based on what he said in the video. From what I understand, LeapMotion is working on integrating their features into a headset, not on creating new stand-alone hardware. So while they are still innovating, as far as us Rift/Vive users go, Leap Motion v1 is what we'll have to play with for the foreseeable future.

ThorBrasil Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Wags Far from this vision of the instruments. In the real aircraft is all near the pilot's vision. The version that the ED ta doing will be equal to the actual or equal to the video? is to adjust the zoom in the game with VR? The instruments are easy to read? Wags you can make a video with the final version of the Rift? FeistyLemur Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Hey Wags, please consider adding native support for Leap's Orion SDK. This is looking seriously cool: Ok that video looked pretty awesome even for someone who is skeptical about vr and motion control.
TomOnSteam Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Ok that video looked pretty awesome even for someone who is skeptical about vr and motion control. It looked good. But if you can do all of that in less than 1/2 the time with the mouse and more accurately it's still a bit of a hard sell to me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode

Flyinside does support 1.3 and ATW is a massive leap forward in smoothness. As soon as DCS supports 1.3 I hope to see a similar improvement which should make it playable for a whole load more people with lesser system specs. Cheers, Smirks Cheers, Smirkza

SkateZilla Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Wags could you give us an idea when to expect the updated VR support? He posted Earlier in the Rift Thread: Dear all, With the release of the 1.3 SDK, DCSW is no longer working with the CV Rift. We are aware of this and hope to rebuild in 1.3 shortly. Please note that there are other issues we still need to resolve in DCS before we and Oculus feel the software is working well: 1- Add Xbox controller use in UI 2- Fix "laser pointer" (was working great in 1.2 SDK) 3- Fix 2D mission loading screens 4- Fix 3D UI background We hope to have these and rebuild in 1.3 soon. whitav8 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 @ED, Many, many thanks for providing early Oculus 1.3 support - fast head movement is now a delight and the overall smoothness is great even for us DK2 users. If we could somehow insert ReShade/SweetFX effects into the post processing, I might be able to reduce the effects of screen door, and not have to purchase the CV1 and also sharpen the instrument panel. I joined the Virtual Aerobatics multiplayer site yesterday as a TF-51D and flew in loose formation with a solo aerobatics p-51 (smoke on)and what an experience! We are able to fly in situations where we never could in real life but feel like we are (minus the G's). Frusheen Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Dave, Unfortunately, reshade and sweetfx etc cannot work with any VR title due to how direct mode rendering works. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
